  1. Unfortunately for Thailand, the EU will require evidence and not assurances and promises from puuyai. That works with Thais but not the rest of the world.

This wiĺl be an important lesson for Thailand if they are serious about being respected members of the world community.Ii agree

I agree but lessons are only important if they are learned and not repeated, unfortunately that's not always how it works here and Thailand never reacts until faced with the final dead end, even then they want more time and it's everybody else's fault anyway.

  2. ..... the hot tempered Natthapong was later transferred to his affiliation command.
....."As far as I know, the man was hot tempered and jealous so he often argued with my sister to the point of assault once," she said.

With these eye-catching behavior characteristics, the unfitness for the duty as a policeman is obvious.

It is bad if such unsuitable persons can shop themselves into the police force with money, relations or recruitment test cheating. The Society does not need short fused, hot tempered armed policemen.

There were official comments yesterday about him being some sort of Walter Mitty where he confused fantasy with reality etc but not only was he allowed to remain in the BIB he was promoted. None of this came out until there was a suggestion of impropriety involving his wife and the now national police chief who didn't even know her name despite her working in his office.

  3. flying billboards or pieces of them seem more of a threat/problem than trees.

Power poles can be inspected and reinforced where needed as can billboards. Ok trees may be somewhat more diffcult to assess their sturdness, but the billboards and power poles are being ignored by those who are responsible for maintaining the standards they must meet for instalation/building.

Put the blame where it should be, on those people that should be held responsible, for maintaining the systems in a safe manner, not a rain storm/front moving through.

I seem to remember about 3 years ago when some billboards collapsed killing someone they were all going to be checked. I don't know if that happened.

Another crackdown, purge etc that never happened ?

  4. A couple of good reports on the BP website with the national police chief doing his damnedest to distance himself from suggestions he was involved with he deceased lady and surprise, surprise making a mess of things,

He's quoted as saying although she worked in his office he never knew her name until after her death. Great boss, doesn't know the names of his own staff. He scoffed at the idea of an affair as only married female officers are assigned to his office, so married women don't have affairs ?

  5. Why is it that every event, a murder, a normal death of an old person; anything at all; is blamed on Thai's or Thailand. He we are, TV posts questioning Emotions and Leadership of Thai's. All you need to do is to read the U.S news where everyday gruesome stuff are reported. Police brutality, gun violence, school kids murdering their own mates and teachers, even cannibalism. Why don't these bastards who whine about everything here crawl back to wherever they come from...

This is a story of a Thai man murdering his wife. Why would we be discussing cops and school kids killing each other in America ?

Have you seen the news whenever a American cop kills a black man or a school massacre happens in U.S. school ? Have you noticed no one starts a news report by saying "this happens all the time in Thailand".

There's also the childish ' if you don't like it here ' leave comment.

So to fit in perfectly we can never say anything negative or criticise to prove how much we love the country ?

I'm sure the people who come out with the ' leave ' comments have never had cause to complain about anything. rolleyes.gif

  6. Hey, what happened to this high profile case? Just 10 days ago, the investigation was "80% complete", the miscreants were known, and the police/army were closing in.

    Update anyone?

Looks like the usual publicity grab to show how on top of things the BIB supposedly are then it goes quiet for any of a host of reasons.

Officials were queuing up to get their tuppence worth in and alluding to all sorts of political motives but as usual are never called on to explain when it all goes quiet.. Thai journalism isn't big on follow ups and in the current atmosphere, as outlined by the PM in no uncertain terms, they are even more cautious than usual.

  7. So in reality, there's just a bunch of lower level public officers, with a couple of C10s in the batch, mostly from the NE.......!

Unexpected?...........not really, although there was a glimmer of hope that some serious effort had been employed to get some of the big money thieves.....but as we all know, that ain't ever going to happen!

Just imagine, the people who compiled the list having the nuts to include names which would immediately attract the censor's blue pencil and have the spotlight turned on them for doing so.

It might just suggest that some of the ' safe ' names to be included have unexpected connections. Instead of investigating why names should be included it seems safer to investigate why they shouldn't ! TIT.

  8. Hands up anyone who is surprised by this ?

It's going the usual full circle of a great PR fanfare and the PM personally would be the sole adjudicator on further action. a couple of days ago it was said ' more evidence ' was need in respect of some of the names despite this supposedly being the Top 100.

Now the whole list is being carefully screened which could mean anything but the list is finding its way to the ' File and Forget ' category.

Thai journalists aren't noted for follow ups and especially not now with all the warnings they've received but if anyone dared to ask a question at a later time the stage is set for a ' still under consideration ' answer. After all alleged corrupt officials do deserve the most favourable of consideration and fairness.

Contrast this with the speed at which a corrupt Police General was dealt with but of course other factors which can't be discussed ensured time was of the essence.
