This is when China has imposed its own Flight defense zone in the South china Sea to back up its ridiculous Territorial waters claim in the same area . Thailand will not be popular with many ASEAN members if it carries on playing up to China
LoS doesn't have the international diplomatic chess experience to handle this sort of thing and probably thinks they are pulling the wool over everyone else's eyes.

Carefully selected hand picked people ?

From your table in the far corner? What about using your finger to point at the bottle in the fridge? If you can't speak or read Thai or English, then yes, your going to have to get off your fat arse, waddle across the vast expanse of the dining area, (take supplies and establish a base camp if you need to)
Find a crane, pay a cooli, or find some other way manage the monumental effort of lifting up you arm and extending a digit to indicate your hearts desire.
I want you to guess which digit I am thinking of right now.
Just because something is possible it doesn't make it sensible. If you can see the alcohol on location why can't you have a picture in the menu? Is there something inherently evil about a photo of the same beer that you can see all the people around you drinking? Isn't the sight of other people enjoying alcohol around you more of an enticement to drink than seeing a plain glass of beer on the menu? Perhaps your next suggestion would be to blindfold the customers so they can't see any alcohol at all. I think the wait staff should also be required to wear blindfolds when they serve it, lest they accidentally see some beer.
You are dealing with one of TV's in house trolls who have no desire to debate only in trying to be smart, and failing miserably.

Hasn't this become the essence of Thainess by taking the line of least resistance ?
It doesn't matter if the result isn't the right one as everyone's happy, except maybe the tigers, and nobody had to work hard.

Major scam and people being rounded up wholesale it seems but it's all gone quiet about the retired army officer of senior rank and his wife who left the country just as the story broke. Could be a coincidence of course.

There is no way I would ever seek to justify this or any other act of violence but I do understand some aspects of frustration when I see couples etc sitting together and some are there in spirit only as they are bent over their smart phone and taking no interest in those around them

Legend says Robin Hood robbed the rich and gave to the poor.
Thai Robins' rob anyone and keep it, well ok some for family and friends, gf's and mia nois.

But according to Phuket authorities wedding ceremonies at the beach are forbidden...
and do those overseas looking at pictures of pristine beaches in their brochure realise the pictures are most likely of beaches in the Philippines ?

Thais certainly can talk the talk
I feel for Thai govt officials, politicians, executives etc having to soldier on against a whole world that doesn't understand anything and is completely out of step with LoS

I can't speak for the whole of Thailand but in parts of the North East the whole issue is complete nonsense.
Bars, restaurants, especially near schools, cannot advertise by using bunting, pictures, bar towels, bar mats etc that have the names of alcohol on them in case children see but many of the premises are open so anyone passing can easily see alcohol being consumed, bottles on the tables etc.
What's worse seeing a picture of a glass of beer or seeing someone actually drinking ? Of course there are no alcohol ads on television and children are unlikely to see anyone in their own family drinking far less to excess.

Is he also confident that when the deadline can't be met the EU will naturally understand Thailand's position and kindly give another extension ?

"Thai employers, she said, are now reluctant to hire the illegal workers for fear of punishment from the law."
If there was no control I bet they would employ illegal workers to increase their profit.
The usual hypocrisy, we'll reluctantly obey the law when the spotlight's on us and when it's not we'll fill our boots.

I call it Thailand's Lost Decade and the politicians are much to blame. 10 years of lost progress. They should be ashamed but they are not and therein lies the problem.
No system is perfect and where there's flaws and loopholes politicians are the first to exploit them. If there's none politicians manufacture them and not for the benefit of the nation and its people,
It's so easy to blame the system not themselves as taking responsibility for anything is all but unthinkable.

If there's a prima facie case take it to court and let the accused produce all supposed documents in their defence.
Sorry, TIT so we will give you a deadline to produce and if the family water buffalo takes ill please feel free to ask for an extension which, under the circumstances, will be granted ALTERNATIVELY if you feel obliged to flee the country !

Better make sure of the quality control or the Disney brand name will go downhill fast.

Jatuporn minus his usual red shirt in attendance but I thought he was in all sorts of trouble or is their appeals ?
I'm surprised he was allowed to get involved given his track record, not the type of person anyone other than his own people would want to be seen with.
Is anyone up to date with his activities etc.

"Ex-crimebuster has more assets seized"
I think it's time to stop describing him as a crimebuster, ex or otherwise, and start calling him a criminal who occasionally made moves against some of the opposition.
Couldn't agree more and I don't understand why the media persist using that description, ' corrupt ex-cop ' would be more like it.
Are they trying to inject some idea of the seriousness by using such a title because if so it's sadly misplaced.

Pongpat was at it for years yet nobody knew !
If a situation we can't talk about hadn't happened would we be reading stories like this about him ?

"He said the firm had tasked him with investigating two points: why Thai police had issued arrest warrants without prior summons"
Because your clients would have run away?
In addition to your valid point it also raises the regular question as to why the BIB telegraph their moves in advance in many cases yet not in this one ?

This was supposed to be the definitive list of the Top 100, now 115, corrupt officials with other lists to come.
Now more evidence is needed against some ! oh dear, is anyone really surprised since very little here is ever as presented in the initial fanfare.
It is good to know that new people may not be needed as lower level officials can be re-shuffled. So job done then and no need for drama.

Anyone who has seen the BIB in action on a ' helmet ' day knows who many m/cyclists simply speed up, serve around the officers and speed away. All that happens is some shouting, arm waving and a tune on official whistles.
The Sgt was ' unlucky ' in that there was a camera running, he was in uniform and easily identified since it's unlikely the BIB took his licence plate number. Yesterday a friend suggested the BIB use cameras at every checkpoint but that was easily shot down as apart from them not wanting everything they do and say recorded does anyone think if the number of all the m/cycles that failed to stop was recorded they would actually be bothered to trace the owners for details of who was riding the machine ?

The Dept talked tough " we're going to do this, that and the other " then backs off which isn't surprising.
Thai officialdom is very god at talking but when it comes to actually doing things, well that's a completely different story.

The BP website is reporting that this list of the Top 100 officials needs more evidence in some cases and has been sent back for more investigation.
How Convenient !
If the top list has flaws what's going to happen to the other lists of presumably corrupt people who didn't make the Top 100 ?

I'm presuming they reproduce facts from the Met Office who insist that tropical storms originate from high pressure areas.
The website is interesting as I have one version on my notebook, a completely different version was downloaded to my tablet and the waste of time one for my smartphone never opened as it always crashed.
