    My point exactly. Never will.

No. It doesn't need to because the shocking traffic crimes really don't occur - in civilized countries.

Thailand is quite literally at the same level of order as the US west in the 1840-1880s.

Nothing will come of fines because nothing has come of fines. What's the definition of insanity?? Doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result.

Could be because fines are too small.

Yesterday in Bangkok followed the GPS and turned right, didn’t see the sign saying you must not. Thought it was strange that I was the only one but the road was quite.

Didn’t know Mr BIB could sprint so fast, out of his little hut and right across the wide road hand held high.

MrsJ explained that the GPS said go right. Mr BIB, smiling, drew a map of what we should have done.

She tried, but failed to negotiate any lower than 200 Baht, better than bigger fine and some points I guess.

And while ever that happens …  no hope

I play golf to enjoy it now. To me, there is no point in playing off the whites if I am going to do nothing but hit 3-woods for my second or even third shot all the time. Boring.

I can break 40 around the shorter nines about 50% of the time. My aim is to break my age, have equaled it a couple of times.

I play at least once a week with a Thai couple. He's 83, she is a very sprightly 81 yo. About 20% of the time, she will succeed in outdriving me, which brings a big smile to her face. Long swing arc. She's working on beating me off the stick, unsuccessful thus far.

When I owned the Merc, the service bills were a lot more than I was paying for my golf. One invoice would have paid for six months'worth of caddies.

My post wasn’t 100% serious BUT where we play caddy fee is 350, the tip between that and 400 so as a minimum 1400thb each time we play… then ‘the odd!!’ ball  in the water … then breakfast… 20km drive each way … all that repeated usually two and sometimes three times a week adds up

Anyway let’s get back to the main point of this topic… tks guys

Of course you would, I am 78 yo. Duh. Although if you were to play off the blacks while I played off the reds, it might not be as easy as you think.

But you would never experience the "in the zone" feelings I have had in winning championships. While I have never tried illicit drugs, I imagine the natural high is like that.

Even at 20 yo, it's too late.

BTW, the most highly paid athlete in sporting history is Michael Jordan. Second, third and fourth spots are filled by golfers - Tiger Woods, Arnold Palmer and Jack Nicklaus. I doubt they or their sponsors regard golf as a waste of time and money, neither do 440 million golfers.

You are too young to play off the reds…I’m a year or so younger than you and still use yellows.. Mrs J didn’t start playing until she was 48…she is 66now. Not unknown for her to shoot 12 over. Only way that I can beat her is to get her off same tees… even then she would more often than not win…..55555

Our monthly golfing bill is more that the annual service on her car…..by far

  4. We bought an 'E' PHEV at least 2.5  years ago now. Knowing that out of warranty bills could be huge and the fact that model has had a few problems, purchased an extra five yeras manufactures warranty. So now only have to basically pay for annual service.

Buying an older Merc can be a risk but it will have  considerably reduced depreciation, realised, if you decede to sell at sometime in the future.

If I'm still around when the warranty runs out will no doubt have sold it just before.

It suits us, would probably have gone for 'equivalent  BMW if the rear seats had folded down buit they didn't. Having it set up for two seats and large luggage space suits us.

As pointed out you spend your money on whatever you want ensuring of course to keep enough for a rainy day. Of couse had they not 'now' been CKD then would very probably decided on something else ....

In my Benz the engine turns off automatically whenever I stop the vehicle to save on emissions.

Does this mean I can still play with my phone?

NO ...  ours runs on battery a lot of the time and the answer is still NO.

Anyway you have hands free operation available .. if you dont know, how PM me and i'll walk you throug it ... 555

so That's around 9 weeks.  Interestingly enough, a few days after I applied, money for the cost of the passport was taken out of my UK bank account.  Wondering (and hoping) therefore if that means it will take less than the advised 11 weeks.

Anyone else with the same experience?

My Thai Credit Card was billed on 7th Dec.

  7. MrsJ bought a Civic RS new in 2017 and sold it in 2019 … lost a bit!!

Was quick, economical, huge boot and loads of legroom in the rear. Service prices were reasonable.

Downside, ride was firm and NVH on some roads I thought quite excessive.

The RS has the full set of air bags and was the reason she went for that option. I think the 1.8 would have been a better choice.

No idea about the Altis …

Any information on all-in costs for a round at any of these courses ??

As you say. they are offering competitive rates .......

You should be able to find their promotions on either their websites or Facebook.

MrsJ and myself play Muang Ake two or three times a week … In the last three years has been improved considerably, now it’s very nice and greens are really good. We have been members since about 2008.

    I’ve seen a price after 1pm of 1050 all in I think.

Caddies are generally good. Worth a visit. Mon-Tues-Wed are reasonably quite.. very busy Fri-Sat-Sun

It's like being an F1 driver - I just see this flatbed driver as part of my pit team.

I agree - I spent 2 months earnings on that BMW - imagine spending a whole two months earnings on a car! Absolutely crazy!

Your had work has paid off … it cost me over a years pension to pay for my Benz … and Cristian’s E63 is coming my way when he leaves … so forget it ????

  10. You must be really unlucky. I always order in the evening Thai time and pay immediately by bank transfer. Without fail it is always in my BB account shortly after 2pm the next day.

It makes no difference whether it is my monthly 65,100 transfer from the UK or the much larger transfer that I did yesterday.

And always shows International Transfer on my phone and later FTT in my bank book.

At which point do you phone the Hotel directly?  Unless you have booked, the Hotel's phone number will not be displayed to prevent individuals trying to scam their booking system by cutting them out of the loop.

Most hotels have their own websites.

And of course you can just ask Google… What is XX hotel’s phone number
