    And the installation was professional?

Yes… they discuss with you where you want the camera located and where to take the supply from. Nearly all the wiring is hidden. If you have an EO rear window blind make sure the guy positions the camera so that the blind clears it.

    No complaints at all….so far…

Have you been happy with the unit?

    What about the installation?

Only had it a few days…have yet to pull the SD card out and look at night time number plates on my pc.

MrsJ and myself both have the app on our phones.

Have been wanting this model for some while. Just took sometime getting used to shelling out that amount of money on a car cam.

Then Thinkware had a so-called sale and 2000Baht off. I think the price may still be the same now though. As paid cash instead of CC I think it came out at 14,132 Baht… for the two channel.

Yes a huge price but if it saves me a lot of hassle in the future, then well worth it. FYI it is not their top model!

Thinkware fitted it … included in the price. Their LINE account is carcamkorea and the guy there speaks and writes english.

Couldn't you rig up an extra battery say in the boot space for such devices.

Ah ... forgot to mention that you can have the camera wired directly into a live supply, via a fuse of course, and can set the cut-off voltage to whatever you want ... that stops the battery draining excesively ... however if your vehicle is still under warranty, as ours is, then not the best of ideas.

We had the supply taken from a spare cigrette lighter socket. suppose could connect in an external power pack.

Its such a flawed system. Because I go back to the UK for 4 months or so every year I choose to keep my money in my UK bank account. I pay all my shopping bills and most restaurant bills on my no fee credit cards where I get the mastercard exchange rate which is close to the Wise rate. This means I need nowhere near 65k a month cash. I therefore use an agent for my retirement extension.

From what I hear the going rate for what you do is around 13Kthb, so seems you are well set up.

Us on the other hand, even though the cars and house are paid for, on average get through more than 1.2Mthb a year,,,Golf/holidays/ medical etc etc. and that doesn’t include if we change a car. So bringing money in through WISE for us is the best way.

We have never been back to the UK since we left in 2007. Often thought it would be nice to visit May-June or June-July but guess never will now.

Maybe others would be interested to know who these no-fee credit cards are with… I read a lot of complaints about card charges……

Finally getting some good progress. Despite the Australian embassy website saying that all enquiries re death, birth and marriage certificates has to be done through the relevant Australian states government website, I got an email from Bangkok embassy  saying that Bangkok can issue us with a certified copy of her death certificate and for that we now have an appointment for end of the month, that’s the earliest available slot. I assume then that we can get that translated into Thai and the MFA will happily apply their stamp to it. I’ve ordered her to go nowhere near a laminating machine now or ever again.
Now just need to arrange to get her married name returned to her maiden name. Will they give us any more hurdles to clamber over.

Let’s hope not and that you have now got it sussed.

Nevermind what others say it is important to nearly every woman to be legally married.

Did it twenty years ago this year… never looked back.

    Enjoy……

It is my understanding an IDP is only obtainable within the country the licence was issued so yes, A person would not be able to obtain an IDP against the Thai licence outside of Thailand.

To obtain an IDP against a Thai licence in Thailand, said licence be a 5 year full licence and not a 2 year temp licence.

    That is correct….

For AAA you can google.  If its another source and I think there must be others I woukd attempt  to google also

This guy is in Thailand and is talking about getting an IDP here in Thailand for use with his Thailand licence.

Whether an IDP is required by law or not… for the sake of 500thb it could save you some hassle.. so best to get one… YES I do know a Thailand License has your name and address written in the english language.

  9. Paint itself is expensive and quality paint is even more expensive. Also important is the skill of the guy who puts it on.

On top of the base coats are two coats of clearcoat.

Go looksee at 2-3 paint shops work. Take a Thai speaker with you who at least has some understands of what is involved in a respray.

  10. Here is an update as we are there now.

Gassan Legacy ….. Normal all in price is 1000thb.

On Monday and Wednesday there is a 150thb discount.

On Tuesday and Thursday there is a 150thb discount if over 55 years old.

With every all in purchase you are given 4. 25thb vouchers. Can be used for food, cloths, golf balls etc use one voucher every 125thb spend. Limit of two vouchers on golf ball purchase.

As I understand these offers are at least until 15th April BUT you can buy 5 vouchers for 4500thb and use them after that date.

Room stay with breakfast is 800thb. Big room and swimming pool is in service.

Went to Gassan Khutan today… very disappointing, course dry and greens very slow.

Legacy is in very good condition, greens are ‘rapid’!   So we will also stay here next weekinstead of moving to Khutan as planned.

Guys get on the Golfdigg app and you can find the best prices.  I live in Central Thailand but anytime I am in the tourist cities or Bkk seems to be the best bet.  Palm Hills usually is a very nice track and usually has some pretty good discounts.

Interesting ... have just looked at a few courses, App says Green Fee only price and to book at least three days ahead.

Now ...  eg Gassan Legacy is showing 2500thb on the App. We are off up there on Sunday, 'all in' price is 1000thb and to stay is 800 or 850thb, forget which. Gassan Khutan is 'all in' at 850thb but App is showing 1750thb. For anyone interested their accommodation is closed until 23rd May. But there is somewhere to stay locally or can stay in Lamphun.

Of course present 'all in' prices are mainly due to Cov19 and in 'normal' circumstances the App may very well find the best prices.
