There's actually extra paperwork with tax compliance if Amerians open bank account in Thailand
Absolutely incorrect, Im American . I opened my account at Bangkok bank the same day my English friend did and we both were required the same documentation, And at no time was I asked to give my US social security number which is the only thing that would link me to a USA tax situation.
-
I have used TRANSFERWISE to transfer 800,000 baht plus from My USA checking account directly into my Bangkok Bank account, and it was no problem simple and the money arrived in less then 30 hours. The transfer did show up as a international transfer.
I also send smaller amounts over monthly using the same method and all has been perfect.
I believe your bank or type of account may have restrictions.
I also have at least 6 friends from the Sates that use the same service and they have never had a problem.
I transfer from a checking savings account, and it appears your using a debit account? that may be the issue

A provincial hospital will normally do a CT scan on every patient with suspected stroke.
A district hospital will usually not do a CT scan, because a district hospital usually does not have a CT.
Obviously, a district hospital will not use tPA. Transfer from a district hospital (which is where most patients go first) to the provincial hospital will usually be completed way after 4.5 hours after onset of symptoms.
You're question was "why these drugs are3 not administered in the country, at least they are not in government hospitals." This is wrong. They are administered in this country, in private and in government hospitals.
I tried to explain the probable reasons why you haven't seen it in 3 cases.
BTW your figures 37% and 0% are wrong.
And no, we cannot all google this topic and expect to become an expert.
My figures are from a scientific website, and I admit several websites have higher and lower success rates s depending on the study group, I'm not wrong.
So based on your opinion the are we to assume that those of us that live in Pattaya might only have the opportunity to receive the tPA drug and scan a the Bangkok Pattya hospital? Since all the other hospitals are non provincial?
-
Yes we can all google this topic and state figures, and the correct figure of success without a stent is 37% but if you dont get the treatment you have 0% chance. All Western world Hospitals give it to the majority of stroke victims
in all three cases none of the patients having a stroke were even given a ct scan, let along in injection of any type.
Does anyone know of any hospital that actually does administer the drugs (after the CT scan)?..same question?
you say its available in many public hospitals and Bangkok Hospital...have you confirmed this? Please tell us how?
I have not named hospitals these people were treated in for obvious reasons.
Thanks again.
Just trying to get actual facts.

Thanks everyone thus far for there comments, unfortunately most are off subject.
Does any one know of an actual hospital that will use these drugs for stroke victims?
Yes we know there are good and bad hospitals, same the world over, and good and bad staff......
Does anyone see a Doctor for high blood pressure, ask them about this?
Does anyone have Ian Corness contact info ask Pattaya Bangkok hospital?
PEOPLE!!!! this is a very important topic, if you or your mates has a stroke and you dont have access to these drugs your basically going to be disabled.
-
It may also be the case in the Private hospitals, anyone know.
And if you have a stroke you cant tell the people around you where you want to go, in Pattaya the emergency services folks automatically take you to a government hospital, I dont know about other places....
It would be nice if we could get a reply from Bangkok Hospital

Recently I have known of 3 Thai's who have experienced strokes and none were given the medication to reduce the clot. In most countries this medication if given within 4.5 hours of the stroke can dissolve the clot and minimize damage done, thus loss of mobility , speech etc.
Does anyone know why these drugs are3 not administered in the country, at least they are not in government hospitals.
I appreciate any good information.
I dont need reply like this is Thailand or the like.
please be constructive , we may all reach that age and experience and I'd like to know where to get treated and how

This should be interesting. Currently if your over a certain age you cannot get insurance in this country and if your older say 70+ it not affordable for the average pensioner, so unless they are going to devise a special policy for us all this really will bring about a lot of departures.

I did my retirement visa also this past week and was given a small slip of paper with a list of what documents I needdd to have with me when I returned to have the funds verified in 90 days and yes they also want the letter. What I did find out if your paying an agency to get your visa processed then you dont get the return letter, so thats how they get around that.

I apologize in advance for asking a question that has probably been stated here numerous times, But I have heard to many contradicting opinions of late and wanted some clarification.
I will apply for my retirement visa renewal this month (Jomtien Immigration) and will be using a bank letter to verify that my funds are in order.
My question is two fold:
1. How much activity if any does this account have to show before taking it to immigration?
2. Does the letter of verification from the bank need to be drafted on the same day you go to the Immigration office for your renewal or can it be done earlier?
Thanks so very Much
And good good luck to all.

Thai social security has a website that anyone paying into the system can view at anytime to see if there employer is doing there part.
Last year My girlfriends employer stopped paying the entire staffs social security and 2 of them actually went to the office in Chon Buri and the office itself contacted the business owner and things were caught up quickly.
Off The government has to forcibly do this and the business owners does not bring accounts up to date the Government can close the business down.

Who the hell transfers between airports?? Sure in unusual circumstance some people would, or when they screwed up a booking. But generally speaking people dont need to transfer directly between the two on the same day.
Just about everyone going to Phuket has to go through Don Mueang, amongst other places

The problem that no one seems to address is huge expense that the Thai hospitals have been absorbing by non paying patients for years. Throughout the country tourists and retirees have continually abused the system, getting treatment and hospitalization and then walking out without paying. This typically has happened in the government hospitals through out the country. PLEASE remember this occurs nationwide not just in the big cities where most expats reside.
So ask your self one question if the expats and some tourists are not paying there bills whats the best things to do?, require some sort of coverage.
I Have always felt that for retiree here, that requiring health insurance was more important then the 800,000.
I also feel that the purposed outpatient requirement is totally off base as most of the insurers only pay 1000 to 1500 baht per visit, unless you have a very large policy.
And yes the over 70 group would need affordable coverage and the over 80 group would need available coverage now which they cannot get, I believe and I may be wrong that even if you have an existing policy once you reach 80 they stop coverage. ( I guess we can stay here until we are 80)
Just my thoughts, we will see what sorts out

How do they rebate it? I might be a new expat shortly and I plan to buy BUPA. Looking online the rates and policies seem fine, certainly something I would do for my first year, and refine or change later if things don't work out. If I pay all upfront for the year, how would they rebate? I don't have any Thai banking setup. Would I need to have some sort of Thai account to process things? I don't mind doing that, but I don' t plan to be regularly or monthly transferring funds. I will bring over 4 or 5 months of USD at a time, as I will have to return to the states at least twice a year for some business things.
They send me a bank draft for the amount directly to my residence, 4 straight years now

You think a would be terrorist would bother to save on a couple of thousand baht?
Also, how old are you that you actually still make calls on your phone instead of using apps like Line, Whatsapp etc? And do you realise that even on a foreign sim card, 3G internet access a day is only about 300-400 baht?
So, once again, how would you compel a tourist to purchase a sim card? How would you implement such a poorly thought out plan?
I do not intend to educate the unedited about communication technology. Its quite obvious it can be done as other countries do it and this country would not have the discussion unless they could actually do it. So get over it!

its typical of the cynical people who troll this site. you make a holes post of basic communication and all i get in return is criticism...unbelieveable!

Just got this from the US Embassy Services regarding the need for Insurance
in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Posted
Extensions of stay based on retirement do not require health insurance.
Those getting a new retirement visa from there homee countries will have to have health insurance.
The statement is correct just not complete
