  1. If you don't want the Thai government to get your assets then don't let a Thai lawyer get them either

Get an English simple will translated from one of the translating companies you see here at Thai Visa

Go to the Amphur in Bamlamung and have them process and register it for you

You will need 1. copy of your Passport (Face page and Visa) 2. A medical certificate available for 100-150 THB from any clinic 3. Original and copy of the Thai and English Will 4. You will need two Thai witnesses (the girls at the Amphur will be most happy to be your witnesses (don't forget to tip) 5. Take your girl so she can show them her Thai ID card 6. 20 THB baht to pay for it all

They will witness everything, place the information in their registry book, and will seal the envelope containing the Will in an envelope, place it into storage, and will give you a receipt

Using a lawyer is fraught with danger since they will not register the Will until you are dead and then how do you know that what you wrote is what was registered

This way you maintain control through the whole process. The only caveat is that in case of any dispute the Thai version of the Will will take precedence

BTW. I did the above process less than a year ago and the requirements I cited are directly from the Banglamung Amphur

Who do you trust the most, a lawyer or yourself ? This is one time where the DYI route is the best and safest way to go

Good advice, but i was under the impression that Thai law was different regarding wills, then that of other countries?

  2. To quote others its all perspective and each one of us will have our own vision.

Although the City has grown, it does now offer us a lot more options, more restaurants, more hospitals, more hotels, more food shops, more service providers etc

I remember when Pattaya did not have Bangkok Hospital.

Again perspective, and as we see, its going to keep changing, so hold on!

  3. One has to Understand the majority of the men who come here are not psychologically or socially fir to begin with, so it does not take much negativity in there lives to set them off. Consider this the place where the misfits come to die.

I don't know who you mix with but all the people I know are ordinary business people, family men and retirees, that just want to live the last of their time in the sun ,not huddled in a freezing flat or house back home.

Its not who i mix with its a common fact if you do some research about the types who generally come to Thailand. ZI'm not saying all there are always exceptions but obviously the amount of suicides suggests my information must be somewhat correct.

So can you quote this research?it would be nice to see who did it ,I take it that its all officially sponsored,or perhaps it's just a load of Crap taken from newspapers and the like

I have done my research and have a full understanding of social instability in individuals , its way to much to boost here, but simply put when your suicide rate is 3 times higher then anywhere else there is a reason, and it normally an abundance of unstable people. who commits suicide? This country attract people who are looking for a place thats is easier for them to cope, but eventually and unfortunately they all cant.

Another off-the -cuff remark that has no facts to back it up.

The facts are presented to you in this post, why are people jumping of buildings? because the are off centre......walk around during his season and tell me what you see !!!!

People come here as they can cope, at home they cant.....simple!..

  6. From your passport you will also need:

A copy of your last arrival card

A copy of your prior years retirement visa

A copy of your last entry into the country.

As for financial info, if your embassy letter includes enough income to meet the standards required for a retirement visa, then you will not need any bank information at all. If you need to use the bank money then you will need a letter from the bank verifying that the money has been in the account for the past 90 days.

You will also need a copy of your house book or your rental contract.

All photo copy page4s must be signed and include your phone number.

  7. I think anyplace you ask her she will be thrilled. I have another idea. In Central Pattaya there is a large shopping mall called Central Festival, attached to the mall is a Hilton hotel, on the 32nd floor of the hotel is a bar lounge called the Horizon, it over looks the entire beach area as far as you can see and has probably the best overall view of Pattaya anywhere. It opens at 5pm each evening and usually by 6pm is full so go early. The also have a special happy hour cocktail menu 2 for the price of 1.
Even if you don't propose there it would be a nice stop for the both of you.

  9. INCORRECT! The French group called Casino is the largest shareholder and has been for years., just check the Big c website.

Their website is incorrect. Do some real research and stop believing the first thing you read.

The by all means please inform where you got your information........why would Big C have its own history section wrong? I won't expect a reply.

Casino sold out about 3 months ago Jess..

Actually The deal is not complete untiil March 31st, but Thanks thou...As I said to begin with "having French Ownership should of allowed them to get Turkeys if they wanted to do so. My Statements have been accurate. Big C's largest shareholder has been the Casino group, Until March 31st.

  10. Its a very good question since Germany, The U.K., Italy and France combined produce about Half of what comes from the States, you would think Big C would have them as there are french owned.

Looks like you might have to have an Easter Ham or Leg of lamb

Big C are French owned? Never were and the French partnerships will be all over by the end of this month.

Regardless, since when has any Thai-owned and operated supermarket catered for every foreign holiday beyond Christmas and to a lesser extent Thanksgiving?

What's Easter in Thailand? It's called Songkran.
