  1. Karma might haunt the Thais some day. Russiand are known to beat up Asians (in Russia) Since Russia and Thailand have some new reciprical visa waivers, the Thai tourists in Russia might be wise to start looking over their shoulders.

Eventually what goes around, comes around smile.png

Those Russian boys might have to call on Uncle Sasha to lend them a hand smile.png

The asians in russia are mostly from the caucasus mountains and hardly look like the south east asians.

  2. Some ppl are so used to water that they even use a bottle of water to wash usually in public toilet places like gas station bathrooms. That's kind of gross in a way and if done wrongly it seems to be worse than using TP.

If you need to use water you need to use it with the spray.

  3. Is anyone around at the airport now? The two ladies are peacefully seated inside waiting for the first train. Probably in four hours!

This is what my wife wrote about the Mafia just now....

They told me all of them have they same price and if we do not want to pay we can walk!! the audacity!! they can all fly a kite!!

    Who had similar experiences?

Unfortunately I am in Germany right now and cannot help. We have a car parked in the Garage in Chatuchak, but for many reasons they decided to use a Taxi.

It's against Thai law not to use the meter or to refuse a fare, so why not phone up and report these criminals?

May be because phone call may cost an additional 10 baht giggle.gif

whistling.gifcheesy.gif Lord the principle of paying 10 baht

  4. Travelling to this area is a bitch especially if you're from the areas like ratchada even sukhumvit but the best hotels like lebua, shangri-la etc are all located along the chao priya river just like this place. It's a good place to take in the sights and sounds cos of the prime location but dam_n travelling to downtown bkk from that place is tough. Traffic was rough on that day and i didn't want to take the bts.

They have a free shuttle boat from Saphan Taksin, so it makes it quite easy to get there.

Agree with whybother... its very easy if you just take the BTS. 30 minutes to Saphan Taskin, then just enjoy the river while waiting for the free shuttle boat. Travelling by car... you'd have to be a real masochist, especially driving at the time of day Asiatique is open at.

I actually didn't know about the ferry until the last minute when i took the last one from that place to the bts you can see that in my 1st post. For me since i am a tourist and not a resident in thailand after taking an mrt and a bts i expect to be at my destination and not having to take something else.

PS the ferry was quite an eye opener.

  6. Here's a short distance before we approach the immigration checkpoint. It's literally a bitch for a non thai person to enter. Both sides have protocol for you to fulfil before you can visit but i say the burmese side is worse. A 500 bht payment for a 1 day visa and you cannot leave the area and you have to have your photo taken.

  8. If the earth connection goes nowhere it will be useless.

It has to actually be earthed.

What he says ^^. Common problem in Thailand with computer shocks and no grounded outlets.

Ok so the problem lies with the ppl that built the sockets pardon me but how do you ground the outlet?

Other than someone else that mentioned using pillows on the floor is there a way to fix this?

  9. I bought my macbook pro in singapore. It uses the 3 pronged thing to plug into the socket while thailand uses 2.

Sg is 220V according to this site.

I don't feel any electrical charge when i use my macbook pro at home.

    http://www.adaptelec.com/index.php?main_page=document_general_info&products_id=222

This is the same for thailand i think or that's the information i got when i looked under the information section when i was staying at the emerald hotel.

From this on the mac forums:

    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4320137?start=0&tstart=0

    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2430990?start=0&tstart=0

It says that you need to the 3 prong plug which i was using when i stayed in thai hotels. I plugged the 3 prong thing into an adapter and then plugged it into the wall socket of the hotel room since all thai electrical outlets only have 2 prongs.

By theory i should not feel any electrical current when the macbook is plugged in.

Has anyone else with a macbook felt an electrical current when using it plugged in in thailand?
