  1. In my case it's a little bit different. My account is already in Eur (FCD) account. Thus no exchange should be made. But I fear for the bank rules at UOB that specify that it's only possible to take money out of the account in Thai Baht
  2. Strange ...... My view on the Teachers in Thailand is quite the opposite of yours. And I can state my point of view with the teachers at the school of my daughter. An English Program school. The teacher, no difference between Thai or foreigner teachers, spend their days in school with giving the students a printer page to color, or a printed page with worthless questions taken out of the Internet. After the tremestrial test, or the semi-year test, most students had a very low result and the teacher advised the parents to left their kids take "special classes" with her/him for a good price per hour.
  3. For several reasons, I plan to go back to Europe for longer periods of time. In the mean time, I would to keep my 1 year Retirement Visa (Visa type "O"). The question is, suppose I leave Thailand for "x" months with a Reentry permit and I would fail to show up during that period for my 90-days report. What would happen? Will I be fined 500 baht/day? Would my Visa be cancelled? As far as I understand, the 90-days report starts 90 days AFTER coming back to Thailand, but Immigration don't says anything what happen with the 90-days report while someone is outside the country.
  4. I use OTP for all my accounts (even not banking related) and ever since I use OTP I receive from time to time messages that somebody tried to access my account. But was unsuccesful. Also, logging in from my phone is done with "Authenticator". No password is typed.
  5. The dead cyclist is dead. Bad Karma Amen The 6 "injured" cyclists will have to continue their life with losed limbs, proplably handicapped for life (= no income), high hospital expenses, etc. People only look at the 65+ deaths a day on the Thai roads, but don't think of the 1 million people who get injured on thai roads and are left with immense bills and a future as a handicapped person. Sad
  6. I am not sure about that. On Android, if you connect your phone to any other device via the C-mini (USB) port, the phone will switch into "charging" mode. On this mode, the other device has no access to the phone. In order to get access to the phone system, you need to swith the phone to "Data transfer mode". To simply access a phone data over a "Public" phone charging system means that the hacker would have access the public charger system to allow this hacker to download the data. Seems too far stretched to me. I think that the way this hacker works, is by people giving the hacker access to your phone by clicking on the link which put the phone on data transfer mode and put the caller on "Hold" while doing his/her hacking. "The phone was put on hold ....." explains everything.
  7. I will move next month back to Europe and need to send my funds in Thailand back to Europe. I read about different companies to handle thism eg Wise transfer. I would like to know of users who used such a company to make money transfers about their experiences with them. Easy of transfert, transparency, costs, etc. TIA
  8. "Can" get you 1 - 20 years in jail and a fine up to 200,000 Baht. "Lesse majestee" offenses carry a SURE 18 years in jail and no chance to get a cut of the jail term. Dare to post a REALITY about a bad service at a restaurant or a hotel makes SURE minimum 3 years in jail and a lot more than a poor 200,000 Baht. All depends where the priorities of Thailand are, and they are already well known by most expats.
  9. They are majoring in "Bone breakers". Once they finish school, they can start working as "convincing people to pay their debts".
  10. There you have the answer: It was all a MISUNDERSTANDING from Anutin's new rule. The rule got lost in the Google translation ......
  11. Are you sure about that? What if the 2 students died because of the inaptitude of the rescue services who caused a fire?
  12. The PM of this country is in the first place a military who don't give a rats ass about 1 citizen. That what they learned in the military school. And judging the jerk reaction of the politicians lately, they have all the IQ of an amoebe when it comes to governing the country.
  13. That military (Junta) government was applauded and welcomed by ThaiVisa members were welcoming Tugsuban and his croonies of the PAD. You got what you wished for. Som Nam Naa
  14. Is anyone really astonished by this news from the puppet master? Typical behavior of a clueless person. Reminds me of our secretary who pushed the "Send" button accidently while writing an email and was doing everything possible and impossible to stop the email, not realizing that at that time it was not possible to stop an email once you pressed the "Send" button. To be fair, there soo much headless monkeys in the Government that they make the Muppet show ridiculous.
  15. Every Saturday I can see a Farang with his wife at the local pub and his wife is not even allowed to go alone to the bathroom. The whole night, he holds his wife by the hand and she is not even allowed to ask a for a drink. Thai jealous man? No need to look far to find the same behavior in Farang man.
  16. As soon as the files are lifted, tourists will return to Thailand. This was proven a few months ago. So, stop with the usual words that this will be the end. Too many old farangs wanting a kiddy woman at the price of a hot-dog. Not counting the freaks who want 2 ladybous.
  17. Expect this whole thing to be reversed in a few days and the Thai government "Wai" their sorry for this decision. Everything will be back to normal by the end of the month and tourism will be blooming again. Followed in February by mass infection world wide due to the Thai and the tourists being exposed to the infected "....." Chinese ".....". History repeating itself again.
  18. To level the criticism here, almost every coutry in the world allow their own citizens to enter their country without restrictions. This is not a Thai only rule. In 2021, at the height of the COVID infections, I asked if it was possible to return to my home country whilst I was living in a country which was "RED" marked and I got the response that "own citizens are always allowed to ge back to their own country".
  19. No words for this disgusting behavior from the Thai Government. Putting again the lives of their citizens in danger for their Chinese Masters. Thailand at his worst.
  20. The REALITY is a little bit different in Thailand. Mr "x" is a property developper who admitted the crime and showed public remorse of his actions. So, expect him to roam the streets again in a few weeks (assuming that he would be jailed). TIT
  21. My girlfriend will be shortly come to visit me in Thailand. If we would decide to make a trip to my home country, does she need to first fly back to the Philipines to ask for a Schengen Visa or can she apply for a Schengen Visa in Thailand? To clarify, my girlfriend has her residency at the Philippines.
