  1. Sure, you can get unlimited broadband for less than 4 bucks a month in Asia,... I don't believe it !

You're not in the rip-off, developing world West any more mate. smile.png

It matters not where I am - and the world wide web is just that.

    Asia-Pacific bandwidth is fairly expensive.

    Enjoy your "free" internet !!!

It isn't free. Perhaps being unable to read is why you get shafted elsewhere. :D

  2. You are aware the speed will reduce greatly at some point (very soon I expect). True does not sell unlimited 3G - there are specific limitations and after that point is reached the speed will drop. You might want to read the data on what you bought and advise what your download limit is using the "H" 3G speed.

    I'm not using 3G.

I'm using the local Wifi hotspot, connected using Wifi.

  3. I appreciate everyone's concern about my salary.. but that's beyond the point! Could this topic please focus more on Kalasin itself. Cheers!

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kalasin_Province

As for your salary, 33,000 x 12 is a lot more than 18,000 x 10 or 11. Two months off fully paid is a great way to end the school year. When you get there I would just go around and talk to other foreign teachers in other schools there. Being rural Isaan there is almost certainly going to be positions available as new 'teachers' start, get a shock at just where they are, and make their excuses and leave. In such an instance don't feel bad for your school, though perhaps a little bit for the director who was probably taking the other 15k of your salary for himself.

  4. Government school EP in a neighbouring province pays their teachers 33k x 12 months, filipinos who teach science get the same (they of course have degrees in science). They are also much better than most of the native speakers that go through the doors as teachers in the 30-40k TEFL field.

I have never known any teacher in Thailand to get 12-month paid salary.. This must be a good school !!

    Eh?

No. You must be really inexperienced and not have met many others than degreeless chancers.

  6. The customers are the emerging middle class Thais in Bangkok. Couples that earn each 30 to 50,000 Baht a month, live in a condo that costs 20, a car to pay off that costs another 20 and leaves them with 40,000 Baht of spending power. They still eat in the streets day in day out but blow out 3 or 4,000 Baht for a night out on a weekend. And this is a rapidly growing market!

This is the reality that is much larger than most expats realize.

Most of course have nothing to do with this class and are surrounded by locals earning and living 1/4 of that, so it comes as a surprise just how many Thais are living as such.

  7. Bought a Samsung Gal. Tab, the internet in my house is from a LAN cable though. I wanted some sort of wireless for the tablet.

The Truemove Wifi signal is 3 out of 4 bars in my house in BKK,

    Just look at where's covered.

    http://www.truemove.com/3g/en/wifi_area_bkk.html

So go to the 7-11, buy a truemove-H simcard for around 50b. Put it into your phone and top up with at least 150b.

Call the help 1331, they were great with excellent English and just tell them that you want a username and password for Wifi. They'll set it up in a minute.

Then dial *871*4# and you get an SMS with your username (the phone number) and a 4 digit password. Put the simcard into your tablet and off you go.

    Unlimited Wifi for 107b p/m!

It takes it out automatically every 30 days so just do a top-up at the 7-11 before the end of every month.

Fantastic service. I'm just downloading a 290mb game and after that will do a speed test.

  8. I am totally satisfied with it. I can commute, tour ans go for a track at the same day. Great allrounder. Of course it should be better 20 horses more. For 200k great value for thailand.

What are people realistically expecting with a pipe, fuel controller and air filter?

Does the US version have more HP? if so, how?

  9. so how are you satisfied with the bike guys? Was it worth buying or are you tired of it already?

from most reports it's a great bike for what it is. For 200k it seems like great value if you're looking for something like that.

Can somebody make a youtube with a real bike sound,

No they can't. get one's lazy ass to a dealer and ride one,

  10. I want to drive my children to school on it. Is there a gas tank seat mod out yet? Perhaps use the frame sliders, one standing on each side?

Where is the sarcasm font when you need it whistle.gif

There was a school near my old condo. Many mornings at the traffic lights I'd see a policeman taking his two young kids to school on his bike. One on the rear seat, one splayed out flat on the gas tank, no helmets of course. Then running the red light if nothing was coming. Imagine the results of that in the West. Policeman sacked and possibly imprisoned, kids taken away to care.
