Seems like everybody find it normal that they add their own tip as they were satisfied with their own service. Yes the prices might be same as London and I assume the toilets were as clean as in London too and the service as efficient.....

If they are called EXPAT it is because they have been relocated by their multinational company thus you know the answer. All the others are immigrants.

50,700 fishing boats makes 22,7 boats per square km of Thai territorial waters !!! Understand why they fish illegally in other countries waters.
Easy to track by AIS, out of territorial waters FINE, AIS off: FINE and remember everybody can check the AIS traffic on sites such as https://www.marinetraffic.com/ Don't look for problems look for solutions.

Automatic Identification System required on all foreign vessel, why do you think this is?

and what life jacket will they be, what you find here in the store is a joke. Better inspect the boats and ensure they are not floating coffins.

Another proof that dead penalty has absolutely NO effect.

Anybody ever tried to import a decent marine automatic fire extinguisher to Thailand? (almost) mission impossible, this while they are no Thai alternatives. Another day, another boating acccident.

Why are taxis the only cars without GPS ? Not even a smart phone with Google maps.

Another yacht show? How many do you want?
http://oceanmarinapattayaboatshow.com/
http://www.phuketboatshow.com/
just get easy registration for yachts, let foreign yachts (and crew) for 6 months in the country without trouble and collect the money flowing in. It is that easy.

If you have the money a Thai Elite 5 year PE visa that give unlimited one year entries could be an option. Just pay 500k baht for the 5 year option.
I'll be in a similar situation soon, and whilst 500k up-front can be hard to get, the effective cost of 100k/year for peace and mind is looking more and more appealing.
If I recall the "PE" is actually better than it used to be, in that it now grants you a full one year extension of stay - i.e. no trips to immigration every 3 months? Seriously sounds more appealing every time I think about it.
But what guarantees that the next governement or the next general does not decide to cancel these Elite Visa without refund?

I'm sure this is good for all these eager Thai language students...they should complete their courses in half the time and then return home.
In most countries learning the language is a requirement to stay in the country. In Thailand has soon as you know the language you are kicked out.
Having learned a language only used in one country where you are not welcome anymore is not really attractive.

Criminals! Teaching English, taking away jobs from Thai who all speak fluently English.
Let's see... 17 farangs mean you need to employ 17x4= 68 Thais to get the farangs valid work permits. Thus by being illegal they took the jobs from 68 Thais, at least that is the immigration logic thinking.

Or just declare that they are more yachts in Pukhet everybody knows that. The only other main marina is Ocean Marina Yacht Club Jomtien Pattaya which is obviously less than the 4 marina in Phuket. Unless there is a marina in Chiang Mai of which I am not aware.
-
“I think Phuket has the largest number of people with registered private yachts in Thailand."
Duh! not difficult as the only other real alternative in Thailand is Pattaya with only one marina.
Why would yachties want to come to Phuket with their bureaucracy, AIS requirements etc.. while marinas such as Langkawi are much more flexible?
What about Indonesia? They are really going to attract yachties with their yacht permits from one year to six months
http://www.thejakartapost.com/news/2014/11/11/govt-eases-yacht-permits-marine-tourism-boost.html
The main requirements for yachties is not facilities but ease of bureaucratic requirements. At the moment Thailand is a bureaucratic nightmare.

see Facebook page caravans club ThailandThere is someone selling caravans on the way to Chang Mai not far from Nakon Sawan. They have about twenty in a yard at the
side of the road but I dont think the Thai drivers would know how to tow one and the way they drive it would not last long

I had an RV in Texas for 6 years. Loved It!
But you need a "Dump Station" to dump both grey and black water.
So the question is: "Where you gonna dump the poop?"
Please tell me you are joking. Or did you see any cows in the field walking around with plastic bags taped to their asses?

I turned my Mercedes MB 100 into a camper left one (back) seat removed the rest and have now a bed in the back, you really think they would complain about this?

Another reason motorhomes would not be popular IMO is that apart from in cool season up north being stuck in a metal box all night would need aircon and you would need to run the engine all night to power the air.
Carryboy do make a motorhome baised on a pickup but not popular for the reasons stated.
cheers
They are glassfibre not metal and there is a thing called a generator (those running on LPG a very quite) Solar panels and a decent battery bank work as well. You do not need much BTU to cool down a small well insulated space.

Have you ever driven over half the roads here? best of luck in a large motorhome
Gee, I wonder how the millions of buses and trucks manage
Why does it have to be large? My parents travelled the whole of Africa in the sixties with a T2 VW bus. Without DVD player!
-
I also don't understand why. I think it is just a mater of time e.g. the Chinese are now waiting up to two years to get a German caravan, also in Korea it is getting very popular.
You do not need any facilities for a motorhome (as some people here pretend) that is why a motorhome is selfsufficient. Water tank, chemical toilet etc.
I build my own (basic) motorhome bought a van (150 000B) that nobody wanted because Mercedes and not Toyota or Nissan. Have some solar panels to charge my batteries and a cool box which I fill with ice (available everywhere in Thailand) and then run a fan through it, enough to cool down to bearable temperature. It takes me 2 minutes to turn my table into a bed. I have a small toilet and a small stove but of course food is available everywhere in Thailand so why bother?
Safety? Come on, look how many motor homes are rented in South Africa not really the safest place. I camp with my daughter on the beach and all the Thais around were very friendly, they probably thought we were very poor :-)
Yes maybe hotels are cheap but you need to book in advance and they would mostly not accept pet (have a little dog as well), if you take the cheap ones their bathrooms are always dirty and smelly you are lucky if you have fresh linnen.

I have a small 17 ft junk rigged sailing yawl (probably the only one in Thailand), just looking for somebody to join me in the sailing and help with the maintenance (restricted, just cleaning and a layer of varnish on deck from time to time, hull is fibreglass).
I do not race I just enjoy relaxing and chatting. Boat is fully foamed and very safe.
