This xenophobic country has surely sent a very clear message, "we don't want foreigners" !
yes it seems to be the new trend, you are supposed to die where you were born. Everybody is a foreigner somewhere.

Will be taking the ferry with my daughter next week, looking forward. I would never have done the 6 hours trip with a suicide minibus.

Where can I find the regulations about the dimensions of allowed load on a pick up?
Please refrain of sending the usual pictures of super high loads, we know about it. I just want to know what is really legal.

Best ask your nearest DLT not same here like say UK where you can.
My guess is a.... NO.
first you need a translator that understands what your are asking, second ask three different DLT and you will get 3 different answers.

Real refugees have very little and cant afford flights.
You mean if you are a rich person you cannot run away from violence and bombing from US and Europe to safe your family?

No instead they must brew the same beer just over the border and import it again so that we have to pay a ridiculous price for a decent beer.

What about scooter licences?

50 years ago it was the opposite (female) western tourists were outraged by Thai women bathing naked and doing traditional dances with naked breasts, in those days the temples were not a problem.
As Professor Chalidaporn explains, up until the early twentieth century many women wrapped their breasts with a piece of cotton cloth, leaving their shoulders bare. Or in the case of areas like what is today northern Thailand, some women did not even cover their breasts, but instead simple hung a scarf around their necks. I want to warn the next tourists that go to Paris to be wary of this type of individual.
1 / Selling in the capital is prohibited;
2 / complaints for theft and rip-off are numerous against these individuals. For any problems call the Prefecture of Police of Paris: 17 or report to our colleagues on patrols in the tourist areas
Selling is prohibited and if you do nothing they will complain that you are lazy. You can never win. I hope they speak Thai at the prefecture.

ATM system in Thailand is made to loose your card so the bank can charge you 400 baht or more every time you forget your card
Many countries have a system where you get your card before you money and guess what? Nobody losses their card.

I simply don't understand the concept behing Grab A Car/Taxi or Uber.
Why not just hail / order a standard taxi?
As far as I can see, it's a private car being used as a taxi. What about insurancw in the event of an accident? Who controls them?
They are lots of advantages,
firstly communication: you just point on your phone your departure point and arrival point (no need to try to explain to the Thai taxi driver where you want to be),
then you get a fare price for this trip (no rounds around the block, extras etc, except in this rare case)
which will be deducted from your private credit card or your company credit card (very easy for your book keeping and safe because you carry less petty cash money)
Additional advantages: no need to stand on the corner of the road waving at every taxi passing by (you get the numberplate of the taxi)
and lastly the taxi will take you where you asked him while most regular taxi driver will just refuse to take you if it is not far enough.

you cannot take a chance with peoples lives. if the pier is not safe then the whole exercise is a danger to everybody.
of course I meant why are the authorities concerned about the price the operator was charging
-
Why is everybody including the authorities all of a sudden so protective of the operators? If they think 1200 baht is a fair price it is their risk. I personally rather pay 1200 baht for a ferry than spend hours in a deadly bus. I was really looking forward to the ferry. We should be glad somebody is taking the initiative, if you stil prefer the bus it is your decision.

In the first year, $70 million in tax revenue has been generated statewide from marijuana sales.
Sure Thailand could use some extra bucks to compensate the loss of value tourists and the rice scheme.

Don't see the problem, most of those boats can float so why not use the sea for parking?
No they don't. They are made of very cheap commercial plywood if
you leave them in the water for more than 72 hours they will just sink as they also don't have any buoyancy compartment.
