  1. I actually enjoy all the stereotypical myths that exist. Some really make me laugh.

"All Thai women want a western man"

"All Thai woman are bar girls or prostitutes, especially if they are with a westerner"

"All Thai women's family requires Sin Sod"

"All Thai woman only like western men for their money"

"All Thai women that speak good English have been with many western men"

    Cheers

Let's put it slightly differently for the sake of discussion, 95%+ of Thai women that are interested in a foreigner are prostitutes in one way or the other and only go for the money.

Now anyone can disagree with that but I only have to look at the age and looks of both parties which confirms it completely, even the ones that move oversees with their new 'love', it's nearly always an foreigner that would have a real hard time finding a wife in his own country with a relatively good looking and younger Thai lady.

For example I only know one couple quite well that lives in Pattaya that does make a good match, all the other couples, a few dozen that I know, don't make a good couple.

    Doesn't that say something?

"Doesn't that say something" yes it does you are a sad person who hangs around with other sad people, I know lots of happy couples here ,I am sure a few met in bars ,I am not rude enough to ask ,but like myself most are business people and met their wives either through work or social gatherings ,you should stop hanging around bars and get about more but then I suppose you live the life here you lived back home , very low class

  2. Thanks for all the info , i have checked the ball cock ,thats ok ,the pump never kicks in except when we use water and the only cut off i have is one that just shuts everything off , the only thing i can think off is there is a leak under the house , its not really bad ,our bill has gone from 250 to 400 , but as we all know things do not get better only worse.

  3. dont know if i should post here but as we are in Pattaya , our water bill has gone up recently so the wife got the water board to check and the guy showed her that although we are not using anything ,the meter is slowely going around , he said there must be a leak somewhere ,well i cant find one ,any ideas who we could call? any help appreciated

  4. If you do not bring a significant other with you to immigration...you may wish to walk over to soi 6 for some relaxation and stress relief...

    You're welcome...

Are you sure you have your geography correct ? Was not aware anything going on in soi 6 in Jomtien.?

Back to the OP - I always park near the market- walk over the road- only takes a few minutes- not worth trying to find a space down soi 5 .

Mind you at the moment it is very quiet- immigration is almost a pleasure to visit- you can be in and in a few minutes.

That long ? last time i did not even have time to sit down smile.png

  5. Merkel will be the cause of WW3 in the next 10 to 20 years for sure. Most of these so called refugees are moslems, they are going to want their own way of life, slaughtering animals by throat slitting ,mosques being built, not integrating and no desire to work

Cameron has shot himself in the foot on in/out referendum in UK ,most will want out now for sure

So how does that result in WW3? Multi-cultural societies are the norm these days.

No they are not , the other cultures that come to the west from places like Africa , Iran eCt etc , never integrate and become "multicultural" just left wing rubbish that has been shown to be just that ,over and over again .

my old home town in the UK was not multicultural ,it was and is even more so now DIVIDED.

I guess everyone has different interpretations. My UK hometown is delightfully multi-cultural as have been most places I've lived in the UK.

So i take it you live in a town with lots of Americans Italians , French people etc , not those from Iran ,Pakistan and Bangladesh etc.

  6. Imo Good new tv seems extremely thin on the ground atm, thank the heavens i'm absolutely luving Ray donovan and surprisingly 'masters of sex ' is still keeping its end up biggrin.png

Don't worry that boredom is about to end now that the Emmy's are over...

Today sees Big Bang, Scorpion, NCIS Los Angeles & Gotham kick off new seasons along with the 'official' launch of Blinspot and Minority Report..

Heap of new series out as you say.

    New series

Blindspot. Ep. 1. Not sure where this is going, but it was okay. Suffers from impossibly good looking main character syndrome, of course. That will probably annoy me enough to make it difficult to watch.

Minority Report. Episode 1. Not bad. Slips straight into formulation after about 3 minutes. Based on the Short story/movie.

Limitless. Episode 1. The pick of the bunch so far, IMO. Based on the movie, really a continuation of the movie. Shows a lot of promise.

The Bastard Executioner. Ep 1-2. Stupid. Don't bother.

Scream Queens... yet to watch it...

    Returning Series

Big Bang Season 9 ep1. Same old laughs..same old gags..same old story line. Sleep inducing and tired format.

Scorpion Season 2 ep 1. Watchable enough. Good for a long haul flight or a forgettable hour.

Z Nation Season 2 Ep 1 & 2. Storyline has become quite a bit silly. A reward offered for the capture and transport of the guy who is immune. A reward of what in a post apocalyptic Zombie world? Shame really. SFX and action zombie scenes are quite decent..script is cr.ap

Castle Series 9. ep 1. One of Handsum Man Grantsmith's faves...some light fun.

Yes z nation has got silly, and the bastard executioner,I gave up when they had a black guy with a Welsh accent in it ,in 14th centuary Wales, stupid stupid stupid,no wonder kids know nothing about history,

As for the big bang ,how dare you sir still fantastic.

  7. Another 20-min-comedy: Life in Pieces. It seems to copy the "Modern Family"-principle: showing the different family lives of two brothers and one sister and their parents (but no gay couples, yet). Could be fun, could be utter crap. The first episode had some good moments but also some silly stuff. I will give it a chance...

No gay couples oh how un pc don't tell the BBC lol

  8. But farangs in particular seem to overpay for property here. Locals seem to understand the pricing much better.

Yes, they certainly do. It's called Thai price and falang price. I suspect any Thai who sold property to a falang at the Thai price would be scorned by his/her peers as a poor business person.

The other factor is whether the property is new or old. Thais won't buy an old house, at the very least it has to be fully renovated. The price goes way down for an old property; however, falangs think they are getting a good deal at double the market.

I live in a condo where the falang price for a studio apartment ranges from 1.5 to 2 million baht. No Thai would pay more than 1 million.

I do not know where you are ,but over the years my wife has sold to Thai and Falang , there are only two times when priced are higher and this goes for anybody , when the seller is an idiot and wants far to much and if the condo is in a foreign name , and then it is often a little higher , 99% of the foreigners she sells to are well clued up and will only pay the going price , anyone who pays 1.5 to 2 million for a condo worth 1 million is an idiot ,unfortunatly there are very very few of those buying lol or she would be laughing

  9. What's fascinating about this language posturing is how it clearly underlines a notion that is now in every head around the planet :

'Terrorism', for almost everyone nowadays, means : Muslims gone berserk and killing innocent people (including other Muslims, sometimes) in the name of Allah, and according to their mad interpretation of the word 'Jihad'.

The Thai authorities are saying 'they are Muslims but they did not kill in the name of Allah so it's not terrorism'.

The Western reaction on this forum (and predominantly in the West, I presume) is : 'they're Muslims and they killed innocent people, so it is terrorism'.

The question, absurdly, becomes : is it, or is it not terrorism ? a point of idle sophism, while the only urgent and relevant questions remain :

1/ what the hell is going on in this world ?

2/ how have we humans, collectively, come to this ?

3/ is there a way we could, collectively, get out of this ? could we, humans, realize that we're walking behind a demented handful of Pied Pipers who are leading us straight into armageddon, and then decide that we don't really have to keep on walking behind them after all ?

And it's not like it didn't happen before, because it did. Many times.

Disagree, people do not see Muslims as the only terrorists. Also, I dont want to get into a religious debate but Muslims are by and large peaceful people,, the people who commit the terrible acts of violence are extremists.

For your points on "what are we all doing" I agree with you that we keep making the same stupid mistakes time and time again. But I do have faith in human nature, people do not generally want to hate each other. The world is relatively new to easy and relatively cheap travel and mixing up so many different cultures and beliefs is bound to cause problems. But over time things will change..

As for crazy politicians, well the ones that cause damage all seem to get in power when times are tough because they pray on peoples fear and promise a radical solution (Germany and Adolf Hitler springs to mind). hopefully we will not see a repeat of that madness and the recent global crisis does not seem to have allowed this to happen,, thankfully.

Mind you it does seem strange that nearly all the extremists around the world are muslim ,and the bombers in Bangkok were also muslim , still we can just go on pretending that it is a religion of peace cant we, untill the next time .

  10. Merkel will be the cause of WW3 in the next 10 to 20 years for sure. Most of these so called refugees are moslems, they are going to want their own way of life, slaughtering animals by throat slitting ,mosques being built, not integrating and no desire to work

  11. Tv Series - Glitch

This one's a new 6 part Aussie series from the ABC.

This type of genre is not usually my cup of tea but I enjoyed this one.

IMDB: When Senior Constable James Hayes, a police officer in the small town of Yoorana, is called out to the local cemetery in

the middle of the night, he makes a discovery that turns his world upside down. Six people have inexplicably risen from the dead in perfect health.

Saw this some time ago ,really good

  12. "some European countries are offering 10 years legal residence to illegal asylum seekers from Syria with very generous welfare benefits"

    Which countries ?

Links to this important information please.

    Thanks

    Belgium, France, Sweden and Germany.

    rubbish!

Sweden is actually giving permanent residence permits to any and all syrians. And when they get it they are entitled to the same benefits as anyone else. And in some cases the benefits are higher and better than working.

Sweden is a very progressive country. Cameron can obfuscate all he wants, but once the asylum seekers gain their citizenship (in Sweden, Germany or wherever they can) they'll be able to enjoy freedom of movement within the EU anyway.

Unless the UK votes to leave!

    We wish

  13. After paying all my dues in the UK I cannot retire in Syria, seems not on a list. BUT, Syrians can come to the UK and get everything, totally taken care of. I have no problem with that but why won't the UK take me into account when I paid what was asked of me for my old age.......

Because it is now classed as a "benefit" as we have paid in for 40 odd years i cannot see how ,but then who cares about us ,out of sight out of mind .,much easier to give money to some rioting refuge carrying banners than you and i living quietly abroad .
