  1. ...believe it when I see it.
  2. The Daily Telegraph often runs articles about beautiful towns or beaches only an hour from London. There's me thinking it's not gonna be beautiful for much longer then!🤔
  3. I now find Eva to be better, BKK - LHR anyway.
  4. More of an 8 pints of lager and a vindaloo guy myself😁
  5. Eva don't give away free seats to wealthy/connected Thais though!
  6. Another table would be interesting featuring only airlines that aren't state-owned/backed. Thai would've gone bust 20 years ago if they weren't.
  7. Yes, we pretty much fixed their unemployment problem for them, whilst also paying them millions. The UK now has 10 million migrants (overseas-born people)...and 9 million 'economically inactive' natives, so that's worked out well then. (Also 7 million on NHS waiting lists)😊
  8. Some companies in the UK have almost replaced their local workforces with migrants, legal (unskilled) migrants. Maybe the Thais are on to something? (Many of those are Polish too).
  9. I also thought that doesn't sound very Polish. Polish surnames tend to be like Wifi passwords!😊
  10. They probably nail those people when someone notices the massive amounts of milk & sugar that they're buying!?😁
  11. I got the impression that it wasn't because notes were marked or damaged, they either didn't have change for 100 bucks, or they just didn't want to get rid of so many smaller notes.
  12. Up until recent times it was only 3 metres wide in places due to erosion.
  13. It's possible that the sachet of coke slipped between the pages of his passport when he put the passport in his pocket.
  14. Probably used to do similar wherever it is he comes from, until it became known about. Part of the reason why he's in Thailand.
  15. I always kept a roll of 20's, fifties & 100's in my pocket purely for this reason. (Also tried to avoid having $100 bills in Cambodia cos it could be incredibly hard to 'break' them).
  16. Many year ago I was on a Thai B747 upstairs in business class, I was in the rearmost seat, which wouldn't recline, it was placed in such a way that the rear bulkhead was so close behind it that it couldn't recline, it wasn't like there was a problem with the seat itself.
  17. There are certain jobs reserved for Thai workers. In my hometown in the UK the largest employer (3,000 employees) has pretty much replaced it's local (unskilled) workforce with people from Eastern Europe, I think that happened very gradually. It used to be the one place where if you couldn't get a job anywhere else, you could get one there. What can happen if there isn't some kind of control over such things.
  18. Healthcare in Thailand isn't as cheap as it's made out to be, maybe only if you're American. I have 2 old friends who are back in the UK now, one in Liverpool, for cancer treatment. An old Irish friend had cancer treatment in Bumrungrad that cost £38,000, how many expats have that much spare cash? Another (very wealthy) friend made around 5 million Baht on a property, he ended up giving all of that to B'grad, according to a mutual friend. Ciggies in Cambodia are way cheaper than in Thailand. Half a draft lager 50 cents in PP (is that about 18 Baht?), where will you get that in Thailand? Many expats are counting every penny. Visas are also way easier in Cambodia,
  19. Draft-dodgers/the children of wealthy Russian's?
  20. Many moved to Cambodia, including 3 of my old friends. It's cheaper there than Thailand, which ain't as cheap as it used to be. I first visited Thailand in 1985, and lived there from 1998-2018. Also in the last 10+ years Thailand has started tightening-up their visa rules. up until around 2010 it was very lax in that regard, an old American friend had a passport that was almost half-full of overstay stamps!☺️
  21. Robinson Crusoe was based on a real-life man called Alexander Selkirk, who was Scottish.
  22. Some rules only apply to certain countries it would seem. This contravened The Vienna Convention.
  23. "...You wouldn’t see this kind of thing in Geneva or Monte Carlo". You don't see 30C winter weather in those places either!😊
  24. They wanted to put up my rent in the UK by 30% last year.
