  1. Even if there's only 50k there, one or 2 a week or whatever cause problems and you tar them all with the same brush? We used to send our riff raff to America, then we started sending them to Oz cos it's much further away!😊
  2. A few Brits make fools of themselves abroad, and all 67 million of us are supposed to be embarrassed?🤔
  3. "Authorities have urged the public to avoid confrontational behaviour and to settle disputes peacefully..." Always a good idea to take heed of this very sound advice in Thailand!
  4. Andrew65 replied to Maybole's topic in Chiang Mai
Is there a Villa Market there? Villa had the best cheese selection that I had seen in Bangkok.
  5. I have 3 friends, long term residents of Thailand, who moved to Cambodia around 6 years ago, mainly due to lower costs there. I was first in Thailand in 1985 and it then seemed 'comparitively' much cheaper then than it is today. Back then Happy Hour in Soi Cowboy was 25 Baht a drink, and an 'all-inclusive' night out cost 1,000-1,500 Baht.
  6. Such things added to the rich, exotic, Thailand experience!😊
  7. Many years ago an old Irish friend told how he was walking down Sukhumvit Soi 5 one day and a big african guy walked up to him and said "Hello darling"! Soooo funny!!😆
  8. Many years ago I was playing Pool at the New Wave Bar in Sukhumvit Soi 7, BKK. A young (African) black guy and who he said was his sister were also playing Pool, I suspected that he was pimping her, and that she wasn't really his sister.
  9. But that would potentially greatly reduce tourist arrrivals into Thailand (AKA money).
  10. Many men don't need ya ba or Charlie to become belligerent/aggressive, just alcohol does the trick.
  11. These days some become so ripped by injection, a side-effect is called 'roid-rage'.
  12. Maybe Stelle Artois (AKA 'wife beater')? But I don't think it's widely acavailable in Thailand, mayve Singha or Chang?
  13. I always suspected that it's the stuff of fantasy when Thailand says that it has a 1% unemployment number.
  14. ....as sick as a parrot! (English Football managers)😁
  15. I had a few old frends who had paid 30k Baht to get visas for Thai girlfriends who had previously been refused them.
  16. This probably has it's roots in the British tradition of pubs closing between 10-11pm, a mad rush for "LAST ORDERS 'aven't you got 'omes to go to!?"😁
  17. When I lived in Thailand (and hanging around in boozers most nights) I suspected that falangs drink driving was rife, much more so than where they came from, mainly due to lax law enforcement, light penalties etc.
  18. When a bystander became irate, Degsie started saying "Calm down calm down, aye aye! Wanna fight!?"😁
  19. If the Devil were to cast his net in Thailand...
  20. Is he really that different to many other Thai politicians? His biggest crime was to say that he was going to help the less well-off? (That's what some politicians in most counties do?).
  21. At a bar I used to frequent in Bangkok the Thai lady wife of the owner used to lock the door when the loud drums etc were heard approaching from down the street.
