Bangkok is near the sea and "benefits " from the moderating effect of a large body of water. Chiangmai is approx 400 mi from the nearest sea, thus having continental climate.

Madamme, was also upset at loosing MyDootv, but a quick google brought it up in a new format. A new sign in (with her old details) and she was away again. She also retained the remainder of her subscription.

Yeah TiT, it's a complete mix and match, if you are going to change your plugs, make sure you have the right socket to suit.
I like the snieder range as they can take my UK plugs, but you cannot use side by side.
So almost every location in my house has a different type of socket.
The 3 pin snieder with the haco flex coming down is very good.
I cannot find Sneider on the net, do you mean Schneider?

John the Baptist's diet was locusts and wild honey.
In the middle East, locusts are considered a great treat and a swarm of them arriving will cause a mad scramble to catch as many as possible. The have the texture of prawns and a taste similar to chicken.

A better idea would be to give farmers in suitable areas fruiting cherry trees. But are there the proper bees to polinate them?

My daughter regularly sends me 1/2kg packets of Duang Dee coffee. So far all have arrived. It is the sending of packets TO Thailand that is unreliable.

I recall asystem in Bahrain about 25 years ago whereby any candidate for a driving licence had to show a "pass" certificate from one of half a dozen "approved" driving schools before taking an officil test. These schools soon became extortioners and the idea had to be scrapped.
However thai driving standards are poor and some form of pre-test instruction is necessary.

I am confused. What is the difference between a lantern and a bird . Surely engines are designed to handle both ?
A bird can manuoevre to avoid an aircraft.

According to local press, she was screened before leaving Sierra Leone and again on arrival in London. At those times she showed no symptoms. The disease must therefore have been its very early stages and might not even have reached a stage of being infectious.

I am a beer anorak. When I first went to Thailand in 1978, there were 3 beers availble:- Amarit (occasionally available on draught)was sweet, Kloster was tasteless, Singha @ 6% was the best of a poor bunch and I still prefer it although it is less tasty since they reduced the strength.
The best would be an Export Pale Ale of the type that UK brewers used to supply to the troops in India in the time of Empire. These Exports were extra strength and well hopped since both of these ensured that the beer kept better. The high alcohol also allowed the use of ice to cool (not chill) the beer without diluting the taste too much.In the days of empire refrigeration was rudimentary but ice always available.
I look forward to a proper Pale ale being brewed in Thailand.

I first got to Chiangmai in April 1979 by train vi Kuala Lumpur, Penang,Hatyai, bankok, Ayuthaya and Lampang. In Ayuthaya I ate in an old riverboat and was accosted by a film crew who fed me Thai whisky all evening and I woke up the next day with the most foul head I have ever experienced.
In Chiangmai I stayed in a chinese hotel on Moon Muang I think it is now called Muang Thong Hotel. I ate often in Aroon (Rai) and at midday I found myself surrounded there by girls from the nearby Commercial College, all wanting me to help with their English homework.
I could walk down the middle of Thapae Road with only the sound of a Samlor ringing his bell at me trying to attract custom.
I came back every year for about 5 years and met my wife there in 1982. It has of course changed a lot and the hippies have all become old grandfathers.
