Many years ago (1970's) a friend of mine in Abu Dhabi, born of Scottish parents in Kenya and whose wife was American, had a son born in Dubai. Since the family were not muslim the boy could not have UAE nationality nor could he have a UK or USA passport. The child was unable to travel until the US embassy issued a temporary travel document. The family returned to UK and after a period of residence (I believe 5 years) eventually got naturalisation for him. This would apply to your grandchildren. I believe that the residence term may have changed in the meantime and I suggest that you contact the UK Naturalisation Office direct and discuss it with them. Ignore the UK Embassy in Bangkok

After Luigi Maraldi’s passport was given back to the wrong person during a mishap in 2013,
That is a new definition of mishap.

He also insisted that the accident resulted from the brake malfunction.....
Yup, what else.
Why do bus brakes in Thailand work in a different way from the rest of the world? I all other countries I have visited, a brake malfunction results in them locking on.

Just as an aside, please let fresh cow dung mature for at least two months before using. Fresh stuff can burn roots or tubers.

I am in Chiang Mai at the moment. I cannot find a quiet pub to have a glass and a conversation. The Olde Bell is gone, the Queen Victoria has dissappeared, the UN Irish is too noisy, ditto the Red Lion.
Suggestions please.

It may take some time, but let us get this fixed properly. A new elecion may see some cool head get elected. Inshallah.

"I owe nobody any political debt" Well done, how did he achieve it and survive?

EK is very reliable. I am arriving on Wed at 1840, probably the same flight 2 days later and connecting with PG221 at 2115 to CNX. Your pal may be able to grab a seat on this if he finds the Transfer desk who will transfer his baggage automatically. The only snag is that from International Arrivals to Domestic Departures is more than 1 Km of a walk. Agood Walker can do it in about 10 mins. He can check through Immigration before just before the Domestic Departure gate and though Customs in CNX .Good luck.

Are they unable or unwilling?

I have been sending money to Thailand for 30 years. Approx. 10 years ago the banks started to ask for reasons " due to new goverment rules, we have to inform them of any regular payments".I now send my regular payments via the Post Office but if sending a large amount it is cheaper to send by Telegraphic Transfer, My excuse now is "Grandchildren's School Fees". Nobody has ever queried my payments.

The limiting factor of any airport is usually the speed of handling of passengers. The terminal at CNX does need upgrading. A slick controller can handle up to 30 movements per hour on one runway provided he hasadequate taxiways. The problem comes from the spacing required due to Vortex Wake. CNX can handle more aircraft on its runway it is long enough and has clear areas at each end to allow for reduced climb in the event of an engine failure.

I thought that this thread was about future strategy.
Suthep's hatred is so intense that I think that if he ever got into power he is capable of having a large number of Shinawatr family and cronies put against a wall and shot out of hand
This will inflame matters so much that an army takeover will become inevitable. this will produce further bloodshed. Army Generals could not allow this and when they do take over, I suspect that Suthep himself will be arrested to prevent further disorder. Abisit will return as the least of many evils, he will be forced out after the Army get fed up and sombody similar to Taksin will win an overwhelming election victory. Then another Suthep will appear, force the Army to take over and then it begins again.

In my country vote are paid for by building new or improving existing hospitals, schools and roads etc. only in the areas where the ruling party's known suporters live.

I am a retired controller. I am horrified that anybody should interfere with such a vital safety service. Remember that Thailand is a crossroads for many vital air routes that contain many aircraft which do not touch down in Thailand. It will affect and antagonise all the neighbours.

If the army stages a coup-de-main, it is unlikely that the general in charge will allow a loose mouth like Suthep to remain free. Suthep may find himself in custody.
