  1. I had some of that fun last month or so too, wanted to transfer from Bank but it said I had to wait 2-3 days to do a 2nd transfer because the first one was too close to the 2nd I was trying to make.. (a day or two before, can't recall).

So I thought I would use one of the other option which is the email transfer system we have back home, it said it would take up to 5 minutes.. so I was like.. fine.

I do it, the money disappears from my account instantly (I click that I completed and then the next page tells me it will take up 3 days, so much for 5 minutes.

I messaged support cause I "kind of" needed the money now.. not that it was a big issue but by the time they replied (about a day and a half later) the transfer was already done.

That's all fine and dandy but, I was expecting 5 minutes when the normal transfers take 15 seconds. Couldn't get the money when i needed it (to transfer to help a friend that was in a bind)

So you're saying, they no longer have all the tables at the entrance to the Immigration building where people had long been required to fill out a COVID questionnaire before entering?

They were still doing that in late September when I was last there.

I didn't see none of that no, a little walk in temperature check booth, looked like a metal scanner from airport and an actual xray machine to scan backpacks is all i encountered there.

maybe different entrances have it but i didn't see nothing.

I think that info regarding mandatory proof of ATK tests was required at some prior period of time, but no longer is.

As I posted above, they now have just the questionnaire that everyone entering the building is required to fill out... asking various things such as... recent travel abroad, recent COVID symptoms, recently having been around COVID cases, etc etc...

I answered no to all of those, and was allowed to enter the building without being required to present any proof of an ATK test or having to do an ATK test...

Now, the question I don't know the answer to is, what would have happened if I had answered YES to any of the various questions on their questionnaire. If I had, perhaps (though I don't know for certain), they might have required something else.

PS - I can't remember off-hand whether they had a temperature scanning machine set up at the entrance or not....

well, I went last Thursday, no tests, no form, no temp check.

i did have to go through a little metal detector airport style thing and walk through another one and that was it.

    so much fuss over nothing.

I went a decade not being able to do as arrival date too early for their data base - then had one success when they updated software - then back to rejects after passport renewal until they started the new web site and software:   https://tm47.immigration.go.th/tm47/#/login    - now seems to work.

But for you seems officer did not like how you wrote address or some such thing so make sure to do as they want.  I live in Latphao but had to write it Latphao, Latphao for one official (technically correct but normally understood as being Latphao area of Latphao if just write once).

yeah you'd think that but I had a Thai lady here over the weekend and was explaining what she needed to do with me on Monday (tell them it was accepted before and that I was getting annoyed with it)

so i wrote passport number, put country, clicked the search thing, it auto filled (exactly the same as it was before)

and next day, it was accepted.. the same information as was rejected 2 days before. gotta love consistency!

to be honest, i'm thinking of getting on Malaysia trip for a few hours so i can get a new entry date, new TM6 (mine is falling apart) and whatnot.

    maybe next month!

The old information was still correct (not a new extension/passport/address)?  The country was selected from the list provided?  I did mine last week and approved next day (but that was Bangkok).

yep and it was the same information as the first 3 times they declined me.. so 1 out of 5 on the new system

I wrote before i went to immigration and pushed a bit and some old lady came out with a printout of my applications with some check marks on it, must have been her that declines/approve them..

quite a pain really, would be much simpler if the site told you why it was rejected. I feel like i'm annoying them when going there but my info hasn't changed in almost 10 years so, not sure what their problem is. so in a few days imma bring my laptop and we can do it in front of her (its auto filled anyways) and i'm sure it will "magically" get approved with the same info.

just to get declined in 3 months again, of course.

Couple other details of my BKK CW visit on Tues:

--They're still requiring the COVID questionnaire form to be completed prior to entering the the building where they do NOT ask about your vax status, but DO ask about all kind of other COVID-related things in the prior week -- have you had any recent symptoms, have you been around COVID positive people, have you traveled internationally, have you tested positive, etc etc.

--Also, they are enforcing the face mask wearing policy in the Immigration offices at BKK CW.  While I was sitting inside there waiting for my queue number to be called, there were two other farang guys sitting nearby at various points who were NOT wearing face masks...  And in short order, one of the female IOs came up to each of them, and said 'MISTER!" and told them to put on their face masks. They also chided another guy who was wearing his mask below his nose.... So, come prepared!

hey, could you confirm something for me? I have to go to CW in like 3 weeks for a sticker to be put in my passport, i have an appointment.

however, they sent me this in the last email

"All visitors at the immigration bureau (Chaeng Wattana Immigration office) are required to present proof of negative ATK Test (taken no more than 7 days) and pass through the thermo scanner for temperature checking before entering the building. This requirement will be effective until further notice.

Please be informed that you will be required to prepare proof of your ATK test in order to enter Building B (Gate number 2) for your appointment. You will also be asked to fill in a health screening form (which would take approximately 3 minutes).

Without proof of ATK test, you will not be allowed to enter the building, and your appointment will be automatically rejected."

is this really being enforced? they sent me a picture of an ATK test with a date written on it and name signed.. it's kind of stupid as it doesn't prove anything but..

I don't want to be turned around for not having one, quite the trip for me

None I have met were like that at all. If anything very reserved and lady like. I have heard guys talking about stereotypical loud, obnoxious whiney overtly gay in your face Ladyboys....but I think pretty much a Pattaya / sex worker type. Ones I have met working normal jobs not like that. Some real petite little stunners too. Immaculately turned out. Hair, nails, clothes, makeup...

I guess its the same for a real women sex worker vs civvy. Depends on the outcome you want from living with a partner

oh yeah, I mean I met like two of them in almost 10 years so it's not a common occurrence

first was that walk in interaction then second the one from last weekend (Tinder match)

I walk on the beach almost every day with my dog.. on weekends there are a lot of tourists (from BKK and outside of here) that come for the weekend and in all those years I was never, not a single time approached by a regular woman

I've never ever been close to Pattaya but since I mostly keep to myself at home with my dogs, the chance of me meeting a ladyboy (that is not an obnoxious) out is basically 0%, so the only interactions I have had on the beach were gay men, bar girls and ladyboys being obnoxious.. the "Heyyyy" type.

Probably your colleagues know already what you like. And it's your life so why do you care about them? You don't have to bring him/her to the company party. IMHO it is never a good idea to bring her even if you would have a pretty young stunner.

And for the long term relation: Normally those long term relationships take time to form. You don't talk to someone and ask on the first date if they want to start a long term relationship with you. Date what you like, see "her" a couple of times, invite her home, and if you are happy together then ask her to stay. And if you don't like that idea after a couple of meetings then don't.

    this is on point.

here's my little experience vs them, it adds nothing to answer the original post but.. idk, i'm bored and it might make someone laugh

so, very recently met a one who was a tourist and within 100 meters of where I live.. I had nothing else to do so I said why not.

the particular one I met was rather tall, not feminine face and had an obvious male voice and at least double D.

It was awkward, not much English was spoken and my Thai is rubbish at best.

if curious, no sex happened. it was offered (I think?).. I got touched inappropriately and all that, I expected that.

first experience I had with ladyboy was like 8 years ago, while I was talking to lady friend at a little restaurant, one of her friend comes over.. very tall, looks like a man with long hair ladyboy. sit right in front of me, asks me whats my name, where i'm from and then 10 seconds later "do you want to F me?"

apart from this, all of them have been very forward like that..

now don't get me wrong, if a woman does the same thing I get equally turned off, similarly with gay men.

for the women, I instantly think they are "pro" and it's a massive turn off. for the gay men/LB (I get cat called by both) then I know they are basically men and yeah.

anyways, my opinion on it might be rough from meeting the wrong types of LB. nothing against them but I don't go out of my way to interact with them (or avoid them)

but if you meet the right kind, very feminine or if none of the above bothers you then I'd say go ahead, who cares what your friends would say anyways.

    like, really.

  10. I used to have True internet several years ago, I don't remember it being great but I'm sure it 's better nowadays

When I went back home and came back I took 3BB and never looked back, I used to have 100/10 package maybe 7-8 years ago and then they upgraded me for no extra charge to 300/20 (can't remember the exact numbers) and then later to 1000/300

About two years ago I saw there was a promotion to have 3BB and DTAC together (which I already had) and it was 1000/300 and 20GB of Mobile data for like 750 baht per month. I took that, they forced me on a year payment because apparently foreigners can't have monthly (don't know if it's really true but whatever) and paid about 8000 baht with a yearly discount per year.

The only thing I have to complain about is that they forced a new SIM card and phone number on me even tho I already had a DTAC account so now since I am used to the old number I keep 2 SIM in phone, one for incoming calls (mostly deliveries) and the other one for Data.

I remember about 2-3 times in the last 7-8 years that 3BB went down for extended periods of time (more than say 15 minutes)

  11. 40 years old, no drinking, no bars, no massages or any paying for sexy times

3500 rent (4x5 meters simple room) including water and electric, 50 meters from the beach
750 baht gigabit fiber home internet and 20GB mobile (combined)
150 baht per day for food  = 4500
60 baht for 4x 20L delivered jugs of drinking water
1900 baht per year for visa extension (160 per month)

1000 baht per month for grain free food for dogs

all in, simple life but about 10,000 a month

my internet is paid yearly, not monthly with a discount so it's not technically in my "monthly" budget but it would be if they'd let me pay per month so I include it.

I "need" nothing else.. it's about 10% of my income and I just save the rest.

so yes, I still think I can live on less than 50k a month and I've been doing it for almost 10 years now

and in 10 years, the only thing that went up for me is the rent, the landlady jacked up the price because of "electric" by 500 baht twice by now.

  12. well oh well! 3 months before my visa needs renewed it finally worked!

I had a look at the previous rejected ones and it was exactly the same information on the PDFs

I think either they really "fixed" something or the old lady knew I would be there the next day if she rejected my application again and didn't want to deal with me.  (I don't blame her, lol)

technically because I went and did this early, I have to do it again on the 9th of October (just before renewal) but if everything works well then i just have to put my passport number and country and it would be autofilled.

    we'll see!

  13. I just submitted my new application after kinda forgetting about it for the last week.. it's due on the 19th

I'm the guy who always gets rejected, it has never worked once even with the old system.

Last time, I pushed a bit about it and some immigration lady came clutching my printed "application" pages (there were like 2-3) in her hand with some checkmarks on it.. they then processed it manually and told me next time it would just work. (yeah right)

so this time I will try it once or twice and if not approved then I will go to immigration with laptop in hand, information all filled and she can correct/submit it herself and then reject it herself right after.

hopefully she is right and it works but.. this is my last 90 days report before renewing my Elite 5 years visa stamp in November. which means i have tried almost every single time for the last 5 years and it has never worked.

Around 3 years ago I paid a million baht for an Elite visa. Was met just off the plane by a stunningly attractive lady, who drove me to immigration in a golden cart, honking at commoners to get out of our way. I then made my way to the far end of the terminal, where I purchased my usual bus ticket to Jomtien, and waited with the commoners for the best part of an hour for the next available bus.

yeah, it's quite nice the cart and skipping regular immigration, you can even get driven out i think up to 50km with a fancy VIP car (BMW or such, can't remember) and I used them to bring me to the Mochit Bus Terminal where i got a 160 baht bus after

haven't used that in like 4 years tho

My point is that they require your current address to keep track of you in case you're up to no good. But if you're up to no good you could report giving a false, or old address, and no-one would be the wiser. In fact, if you were up to no good you may not even bother to report at all.

you're not wrong, at some point immigration started bothering me for a "copy of the house book" after never having asked me for one for like 8 years, they had tried previously and I was unable to get one based on i'm renting from a old lady who rents from a guy in BKK that uses a third party company to manage his rents.. the company didn't have it and the BKK guy couldn't be bothered to provide paperwork for 4th party.

solution to it was to go and bother a friend in the same province but very far, ask her for book.. she signed for it and we used that. i never lived there but the only three options were.. lie, move or go back home cause I couldn't renew visa.

  16. I'd like to do a border run at some point to "reset" my previous entry that Immigration seems to have issues with on online 90 days reports (would want new TM.6 and whatnot) as I haven't left in 5 years.

would I be correct to assume that at this point if you want to go to Laos by land and come back that one of the two borders would ask for vaccination status or recent tests before letting me in (or even out)?

I mention "out" because I remember one time I was not allowed to leave Thailand to go into Myanmar (a nice wasted 4 hours each way drive), they told me to fly out to Malaysia..

I think they were making sure I had the correct visas or paperwork for Myanmar before letting me through but at that time it was only paying a small fee at the border and sitting in a car while someone sorted the in/out stamps Myanmar side and then driving back.

  17. we have the same problem in Cha-am, I was told many years ago that none of the beach was able to be "rented" because the king owned all the beaches.. well it seems that this is wrong from what I read here.

here if i ever have a lady coming over with a car then it's always some drama cause they charge for parking near their chairs and if ever told that they are staying a few hours (omg, what about overnight) then they get angry and tell my friend to go park somewhere else.

There are few places on the beach that you can park but it's a few minutes walk and the women usually don't like walking 5 minutes.

the local foreigners some of them have their little chairs like the above one from Lazada and even umbrellas and they get the dirty looks but don't care.

I couldn't tell you how much the chair rental is (or parking) because I don't have a car and live less than 50 meters from the beach so I don't sit on their chairs, i know they act like children if you ever try to sit there even when there is no one else around tho (even sometimes late at night)

favorite day of the week is Wednesday when there are no umbrellas or chairs on the beach because its cleanup day.

I know it came from there cause they knew my full name and acted like i was from the different province.

very sneaky and it sucks but this is likely the answer.

It's funny, I haven't shown my license to the police since I been here some twenty years now. If I didn't have insurance I would say what's the point of having one?

yeah, I been here almost 10 years and was never asked to show my license.. I don't drive regularly anymore but I did at some point.

Even when some lady crashed into me, didn't care about my drivers license (not having a license would normally automatically be your fault cause you're not supposed to be there) but all they wanted to do was take my bike away on a pickup and collect money for me to get it back after claiming it was my fault.

I did have a license, the other person didn't.. but they don't  know that since didn't check/care.

Kasikorn should settle almost immediately even if you select long term stay, it's Bangkok Bank which is delayed as they have a manual procedure to settle at 2pm  International

that's true but the issue isn't Kasikorn or BKK Bank here but Wise holding payment for X and Y reasons, expecting checks..

basically all Wise is doing is taking your money from abroad and then transferring you the agreed upon amount from a local bank here, it literally takes seconds until they hold it.

in this case they take from HSBC and probably confirm on bigger amounts (slow) and then transfer from SCB to SCB (seconds)

I assume there is some kind of level of "trust" here as the money doesn't disappear from my  account until a day or two later on my online banking.. maybe they get it instantly and then do the transfer but I think they just trust it will come later and pay me first.

  21. it's a bit of a mess situation, unfortunately.

I had the same a few years back and it was big, mostly blocking his ears.. I left it alone for a bit to see if it would go away and it didn't.

the problem with leaving it alone is it will make the dog scratch at it or shake his ears which usually furthers the little damage that caused it.

so I ended up doing surgery where they practically made a few say vertical cuts and sewed it all together..

I don't remember it being exceedingly expensive, around 5k (I think) but it was certainly ugly afterwards and his ear was much thicker as a result.
