Cheap or value for money?

After yesterdays day at the races, we dropped in to Vientiane on Nerm Plub Wan, only to find a name change, which is now 'Nham Nuang'
Asked the waitress why, she said it had been sold, and the new owner wanted a name change.
End of an Era ...
Apart from the menu is the same, prices were the same, and the food was as good as ever.

New to me restaurant in a bit of an off the beaten track location that has been open about a year.Ate here about a year ago.
Food was fine, but my overall memory of the place was the extortionate price for a bottle of beer.

In case someone missed it, Tequila Reef re-opens tomorrow, as Reef Cantina in Welcome Town, off Pattaya Glang.

It would appear that the excessive scaremongering and troll 'denial of entry' posts have really taken their toll.
Most of them posted from the usual Wishful Thinking mob.

No doubt the re-opening of this Food Court has really upset the cost conscious ones.
Another one of those Thai Myths .... if its a food court, it must be cheap!

Good for you. In any case their access via Grab and now the Central luxury food court will give convenient access to many more people.
So why mention it?

Yes, they are randomly rejecting people at the ports of entry. When people fly half way around the world they are correct to be nervous about being rejected because it does happen.
Well .... on here it's seemingly happening.

Had he taken over from the English guy? I had heard he (English guy) married his longtime who ran the bar then there was a domestic problem. Lucky he got out alive.
Working out of .... nothing to do with owning or managing.

how (deleted) stupid is that at a time when tourism is under pressure - oh yes there might be numbers provided from other Asian countries but how much are they spending ?????
Thailand needs to think very hard about what it is they want, once people start going elsewhere it will be very difficult to win them back
It really defies any sort of sensible logic - 18% of GDP and it is going down the drain and self inflicted
https://www.bangkokpost.com/business/1806469/baht-concerns-abound
The strong baht in 2019 is a result of Thailand's massive current account surplus. The surplus, worth US$26.4 billion (797 billion baht) on a year-to-date basis as of September, stems from lower import value compared with export value, inflows of tourism revenue and near-record foreign reserves of about $222 billion.

Spotted on Facebook, and probably worth posting here ..
End of an era, as Smokin' Joe's and Steak & Co change hands. Sold to a Korean/Japanese venture. Former owner Ian has taken out a lease on a Lengkee unit (photo), to be converted to a Western-style Chinese restaurant and takeaway, with delivery of course, under the 'Hungry Panda' name, and is looking at other potential investments around town. Good to see some money is still being spent in Pattaya and in Lengkee, which has been suffering of late..
EDIT - just to make it clear, SJ’s and S&C are NOT closing, as far as anyone knows so far it’s carrying on as normal under the new owners...

Glasgow rings a bell.
Yes, her husband was Scottish, and she learned how to cook in Glasgow, before opening Wok n Rok.
I know they then returned to Glasgow, but I remember reading somewhere that she was now cooking in Dublin.

I was wondering the same. Formerly on Soi Buakhao specializing in Brit takeaway style Chinese food and pretty good if I recall. A UK guy whose Thai wife did the cooking.

Last heard of working in conjunction with a restaurant in Rhompo. Have been able to buy their frozen takaways from a couple of farang minimarts on the Darkside until recently. IMO the best Chinese food in Pattaya.
Rattana has been cooking in Glasgow (and Dublin, if I remember correctly) for many years now.

Agreed ... especially on Tuesday when they have their heavily promoted Taco Tuesday.
Reducing the size of the Tacos while telling you its a great deal is dishonest IMO.

fingerprints and pictures make no difference as they get same history record purely from passport system history
But how can they do this, when every time you get a new passport, its a new number?

Is it really true that they charge you 200 baht and hour to keep you in the detention centre if you appeal?

Actually the best Khao Man Gai is made from Capons, not Chickens.
