Does UK highway code say anything about driving against red? Asking for a friend.

Section 70
[The driver shall reduce speed when approaching a junction, pedestrian crossing, vehicle stop line, or circle (rotary).]
Section 70 refers to bus lanes.
Section 32. In using the road the driver shall be careful in avoiding
the conveyance not to hit or graze a pedestrian, notwithstanding at any part of the
path, and must give warning signal for the pedestrian to be aware when it is
necessary, in particular, a child, elder person, or the disabled using the road, the
driver must take special care in controlling his or her conveyance.Chapter XIII pedestrians
Does not mention unmonitored pedestrian crossings at all.
Section 145
.... In the case where a driver has hit or grazed a pedestrian crossing the
path outside the pedestrian crossing and being amid the pedestrian crossing and the
traffic sign indicating pedestrian crossing area, or crossing the path outside the
pedestrian crossing by passing under, over or through the barrier or traffic barrier
installed by the traffic officer or competent official or existing on the pavement or in
the middle of the road, upon reasonable ground to believe that the driver, who is
accused, has duly taken special care under section 32, the investigation officer has
the power to release the accused provisionally without bail when requested by the
accused or the interested person.Sect 145 implies that outside pedestrian crossing safety zone section 32 applies.. so inside safety zone must be driver at fault automatically.

My Jeep was once rear-ended by a motorbike when I stopped at a stop sign in the village near my home. Long story short, I was "advised" by the local police to pay to get the motorbike fixed, just couple hundred baht, because, as they explained, "Bill, you live here. You KNOW no one ever stops at that stop sign." ????
I learned to drive in Thailand. And my Thai driving teacher scolded me when I stopped at a stop sign and explained it's too dangerous and that I will get hit from behind....

These markings warn drivers that there may be pedestrians crossing or waiting to cross the road. They also tell drivers that they must give way to pedestrians on the crossing.Jul 18, 2017
Fake news or bad translation.
Can you tell what section number that is from?
The Thai land traffic act of 1979 says that drivers must slow down and beware of pedestrians but not give way. They also say that pedestrians must beware of vehicles etc and wait for it to be safe..

My Mrs never accepts she has to stop when somebody is on a crossing, her excuse is the car behind might run into us. Most dangerous place to cross because some will stop and others don't. even on red light crossings. At least Thais usually shout at drivers now who just plough on ignoring the lights
That's a valid excuse, I've been hit from behind a couple of times by motorbikes that lost control when I stopped for pedestrians at zebra crossings.
And had a handful of close calls with screeching breaks etc...
And I stop by slowing down very gently like 50 meters before the crossing .. the last time I was fully stopped for 4 seconds when a motorbike hit me... They get super confused when someone stops for pedestrians and it causes grave danger to everyone including the pedestrians... Ps, the pedestrians didn't cross the last time lol.

That's good to hear.
The cynic in me immediately suspects the fines are never paid. Hope that's not true.
Many of them are not paid i bet. But it seems clear to me that people are afraid of the system.

There's a red light near my house with a camera system. I got fined a couple of times and now I've noticed that almost everyone stops for yellow there. This proves that Thai drivers respond to persistent enforcement.

I've been living in Thailand 7 years and have never been bothered by a foreigner in any way... Not even seen what would look like a foreign criminal... Except a hells angel that lived next door.. he didn't bother anyone afaik..
That being said, I haven't been bothered by thais either... Except on the roads...

These rag-tag mobs han no coherent system of electing a leader and just as this Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi came from nowhere soon, a successor will be found and don't be surprise if he will be even more cruel and deadlier than his predecessor just to prove himself...
Yeah, that is one possibility. It will perhaps maybe create rifts and internal fighting in the isis leadership. This could weaken isis. Hopefully.

If you are continuosly live in Thailand on tourist visa? Yes, then you are right. They not welcome you no more. That´s only out of the simple reason you can not comprehend that a tourist visa has that name because it´s created for the purpose of tourism. Not for stay indefinately in Thailand on, bacause they will assume that you can not take care of yourself without working. That means that they will believe that you are working in Thailand on a tourist visa, which probably 97% of all people living on those do.
All other people are still welcome to Thailand. (For your information 6 month and over, can never be considered or referred to as a short term stay. If you are her eon short term stay on tourist visas as they are intended to be used for, then you have no problem as long as you live up to the requirements.)a person who is traveling or visiting a place for pleasure.
that is the definition of tourist.

I did read in another forum (german frequent flyer board) that the Chinese are the ones, who are inflating the Baht.
My be somebody here has more information or can tell that this are just rumours. It's probably true in some sense. Lots of Chinese investment = strong baht?

Good bye
The currency policy of the government is to be blamed. The strong THB is what makes the ticket prices so expensive!
Nothing Thai airways can do.
I hope the government comes to it's senses and takes drastic measures to weaken the baht again.

Far too expensive try this formula
lower prices to beat competition+get rid of dead wood management = full aircraft= Profit made.
It's hard to lower prices when the price is set in a very strong THB. Salaries, tax, etc, all paid in THB.

This may or may not be true, but...
I stopped flying with Thai Airways a long time ago because of over-priced tickets and lousy service.
It says in the article because of the strong baht.. the ticket prices have not gone up in THB. But the exchange rate has.

Just keeps getting weirder. Can't they just refer to them as "two women"?
Who decides if they are pretty?
Do they carry a official Thai card that designates them as pretty?
What about if they are ugly? Who decides that?
Heaven forbid they are "fatties".
Who teaches journalists in Thailand that every noun needs a stupid adjective preceding it in a headline?
I think being a "pretty" is a profession. Usually correlates to looking pretty, but that is of course subjective

Soo.. the price of the chemical will go up. The price of the farmers products will go up as well.
The use of the chemicals will not go down.
So in the end all this means is that the consumers will get the same banned chemicals to eat but now have to pay for this added buearocracy.
Am I pessimistic or just realistic?

3. Because it was already investigated and a nothing burger. Trump wanted it investigated again. But he should have asked his own agencies, not a foreign govt.
4. The dossier is from a FORMER intelligence officer. Not a govt official.
What does the law say. The law that trump is breaking.

Ok. So let me get this straight. What you are saying is that Trump can ask to investigate Biden but only if he asks his own government agencies to do it. Why didn't trump simply do that? Didn't he know it was illegal what he did?

I hate Trump. I really do. All the lying. The racism. Destruction of Obama care. Etc.
That being said, I also hate injustice.
I have some questions:
1. Is eye witness testimony enough to remove a president? Doesn't there need to be hard evidence? It would be too easy....
2. Does the president have the right to investigate ANYONE? Isn't almost EVERYBODY his political rival at some point?
3. If Biden has nothing to hide, then the Ukraine won't find anything. And then Ukraine is not interfering in the election. If However Biden did something illegal in the Ukraine, then surely the public deserves to know about it. How is that Election interference?
4. Didnt Hillary get the infamous Trump dossier from a UK intelligence officer? Isnt that Also a foreign entity interfering in American election?

Thai central bank chief says 'very worried' about strength of baht

Can't they just print a bunch of money and and massively lower interest rates? Wouldn't that weaken the baht while at the same time stimulating the economy?
Ps. I'm obviously not an economic major ????
