  1. If you have the risk to get beaten by a soi dog...will be better to go to a hospital and get a 2 shots preventive rabies vaccination. Avoid to walk over a dog pack. Dogs get more aggressive when in groups..It is a typical "wolf" behavior. If just one attack...will be followed by all

  2. I believe that the population of Chiang Rai Amphur Muang has doubled in the past 5 years. The growth is mostly young educated young Thais looking for quality of life and economic opportunities. I expect that the growth will double again in 5 years. Mae Fah Luang University is growing rapidly with a new medical doctorate and nurse program. A new medical school building is under construction. The engineering department is growing at a rapid rate. Very few retired farangs live in Chiang Rai and I don't see this changing very much. They much rather live in Chiang Mai. The two big bypass roads under construction will help relieve a lot of the north-south traffic through the center of the Chiang Rai city. There is not a lot of need for a new or expanded Highway 118 and I don't expect that it will be built in the next 10 years. They could do some badly needed improvements on 118 that would make it a lot safer to drive.

Hi Donald. I just found out that a 100 talang lot facing the new bypass to the airport was sold for 4 mil. Before the construction of the new road, just 2 years ago, those lots were selling for 1.5 mil. The same is happening with the new mix use townhouses built by the Airport and Bandu main roads, where new housing and commercial projects are in the way. In my opinion, Chiang Rai will develop faster than Chiang Mai, not only because the Chinese tourist traffic. The commercial traffic will use Phayao-Lampang route to Bangkok. Any new industrial development in North Thailand will prefer to be located on that route, than close to Chiang Mai where real estate cost is a lot higher. I can see a future development and increase in real estate cost in Phayao and Lampang too.

  3. Thanks Prayut!

The Trade Pact designed by the big US Corporations and Banks, is not more than an EMBARGO to countries not accepting their commercial rules. That's is why no BRICS countries are on it...even invited. The US is afraid of the emerging economic and commercial power of Brazil, India, China, South Africa.....and other emergent economies. Just in oil Russia and Brazil are richer than the Arab countries...but the case is that the US and its Oil Corporation wants to keep world dependent in oil...on THEIR oil, when already Brazil and India are getting into alternatives sources of energy. The US is not interested in anything that will change its corporation profits. That's all....and that is why this pact still a secret.

A very bad deal for the world's future and peace.

  4. GOOD NEWS!!!!

Trump and Carson may be a good team for President and Vice President of the US.

Trump is insane and he will need an urgent brain surgery..... with a very long convalescence. During that time the US will bankrupt, that it is exactly in what Trump is an expert. After that, Trump will take all the billions he can stole and move to Dubai.

Carson will become the President in substitution, and will have to work very hard to resolve the country's problems. He may succeed.

All Americans will need brain surgery at that time.

  5. Thinking in safety, and on the 1 mill range, a AWD drive is a very good option. The best car for the money in that range and AWD is the Subaru show in the picture for 998K...discounted from 1350000 when introduced last year.

The only concern will be the service in Thailand, and the resale value. Subarus are not very popular in Thailand, but have a very good reputation in Japan, and do not sell better in the US because are more expensive than Toyotas and Hondas.

A AWD Honda will be my option over 900K. I do not know if available in the HRV model, my favorite. Very good looking sport SUV.

  6. Around 600K the best buy will be a 2015 Honda Jazz or City 1.5 for a small car, roomy and powerful.

Good resale value and many good used ones on the market.

The 2015 Ford Fiesta sedan 4 doors automatic 1.5 still selling for under 500K. But service and resale value are not very good.

The 2015 Nissan Almera 1.2 for about 500K may be a good buy for the money, but resale value in Nissan is not so good like Honda and Toyota.

The Toyota Yaris 1.2 for about 550K is a nice car, but is not competition to the Honda Jazz, in space and power.

Over 750K there are a lot of good options, if you wants to spend that kind of money.

Be away of imported cars if you wants to be free of service troubles, and to pay more expensive insurance....but...sometimes... taking a risk in an imported second hand car can be very exciting experience..... if lucky. Even a 15 years old Mercedes Benz, Audi, or BMW, easy to find for under 400K, can beat easily a top of the line 2015 Honda or Toyota in every aspect.

I still missing my 2000 Mercedes Benz 300 CD diesel station wagon I had in the US.....and very difficult to find here.

Nobody will sell a good one. I sold mine for $8,000 in 2010...to move here.

If you find one..let me know.

  7. blink.png . How is that possible so soon after winning the Nobel $$. That never happens in Thailand. thumbsup.gif

    OP states

years of illness that left him nearly penniless

Perhaps Philippines hospitals are similar to Thai ones in their charges.

    RIP

Hope I'm not off topic. 3 days ago doctor said he would like to see MRI of my shoulder. When I was quoted 13,000 Bt (about 520 AUD) for the procedure I refused.

Wonder why some people claim Thailand a hub of Medical Tourism?

13,000 THB?...Just that for a MRI??? In the US, without insurance, a visit to a hospital emergency room for any reason may cost $500......

  8. No doubts that Trump is a very smart business guy...in the worst sense, but what amaze me is that so many other business people get in trouble because him, and so many people still getting into his sweet talk.

Trump pulls the same scams in many other developments, one I know directly in Baja California, Mexico....but now he is building another in Argentina, starting another in Scotia, and I will be not surprise if he will get into Asia soon. He is the King of Scams....and he may be nominated by the Republican party for the US Presidency.....

Trump never will be elected, what just to see him in the presidential race..it is a shame.

  9. The BIG difference by my own experience, is that Filipino women enjoy sex very much, are not tied up by religion believes, and most speak good English. A Filipino woman is a Western with Asian flavor.
