  1. Very sad news. Mr. Carter is a good man and politician, very rare to find in the US. I met him long time ago, when working for Habitat for Humanity in Mexico, and I was very impress with his personality and kindness.

I hope he is smart enough to know that the US is the worst possible location to treat cancer, with all the treatments designed to please the system, and where money rules over common sense. Surgery, Radiation, Chemo....it is obsolete..and kills more than cancer, and was replaced a long time with alternative treatments that are not licensed in the US.

I know, if not easy to reject an US doctors opinion, but the #1 World Power, do not have #1 Medicine. Many other countries apply the alternatives treatments no available in the US, specially 3rd World countries like Mexico, Cuba and even Thailand. Better places to treat cancer than the US.

Believe me. I was diagnosed with "terminal" colon cancer in 2007, and I rejected any treatment that will affect my body's self healing system, my energy, and my mental sanity.

Buddhism and Thailand saves my life...and I am not in remission....Tumors are gone, and my health better than ever...

US doctors said that its was a "miracle".....and probably were very sad for not getting the BIG money Medicare would have to pay for my treatment.

  2. Nissan March is too small I couldn't Eden fit my suitcase in the boot. Ideally I'd like to buy a one year old Jazz, does anyone know how much they depreciate by approx. I know some cars hold their value very well in Thailand and my feeling is that if it's only going to be something like 10% cheaper I'd rather buy new.

In England we have Parkersburg guidebook on secondhand car prices but I understand there's nothing similar here as a guide to second hand car prices.

I was researching value of our 2013 Jazz, thinking in trade it for the Subaru XT. We need 4x4.

Our Jazz value is around 500.000. We bought for 620.000 new in 2014. but we were looking for a second hand Jazz at the time, one owner, low milage, and top of the line with the 7 speeds auto trans. Found only one, 2009, but the owner was asking 450.000 at that time.

I think that a Jazz 2008/2009 value may be around 300/350,000 now.

  3. More about the JAZZ....., the MOBILIO and the HRV.

The HRV is a very good looking hatchback Honda, but cannot be considered a small car, and its price is about 900.000. Amaizingly the cargo space is not much bigger that the Jazz, because in the Jazz the rear seat folds in 2 ways, and one way allow to load up to 2 complete standing bicycles on one side, and other cargo in the other side.

The Jazz is the only car in the market with that rear seat folding system. For some reason the HONDA JAZZ name in the US is HONDA FIT...and in the US is on the list of the best small cars.

Other option is the Honda Mobilio...for about 750.000, it is longer but do not look so strong like the Jazz,, and the rear seat folding system is the normal type, like on the HRV and most hachback.

In my particular taste....the honda HRV is a great looking SUV...but the price is too close to the SUBARU XT ALL WEEL DRIVE.....my favorite SUV in that price range....and still a bargain...998.000. The only problem may be the resale value.

I have to admit that HONDA probably have all the best options in cars at this moment.

  5. To the foreigner looking to the past, and wanting to keep Chiang Rai peaceful and picturesque...any new road, any new development, never will be welcome. but.....many locals are looking for new sources of income and grow. With all the new Thailand's project with China, most new projects in the country are related to logistics and foreign investments,.and the Chiang Rai, Phayao, Lampang corridor to BK is the logic route for China products, and source of land for industrial projects. Probably, Chinese investors are behind many new infraestructure projects in these areas.

  6. Those Thai city administrators and majors are losing the opportunity to resolve 2 problems at the same time, accidents, driving infractions, and budget.

Big part of the budget source in American cities come from parking and driving tickets.

When people know that a parking infraction may cost you $200, a driving infraction $500, a DUI jail and more than $10,000 in legal fees, and an accident with injuries to others, a lot of money or jail, like in California, people will be a lot more careful..

If will damage people's wallet, people will behave...in any country.

And..... cities will improve its funds.....and hire more people to take care of the city, more police, etc, etc...

    Easy solution....

  7. Very hard sentence for the crime...but....in some countries the penalty increases when the criminal is a foreigner. Long time ago, a young American was cought with marihuana entering Turkey and spend long time in jail....A movie mas made about its lhelly ife in jail and the long fight for re trial.

Anyway..drugs are deadly..and not only for the consumer. When I was young, dating an older medical doctor, I suspected something wrong about her behavior some times.....until one day she got in panic when her 2 years old daughter ingested something that was in her bag. That day I found out that she was using meta anphetamines. Soon later, during an argument, she attack me with a knife and I had to run for my life to never come back.....

Unfortunately, drugs dealing increased a lot after that time, specially in the US, when it is so common that the police do not pay attention anymore, and drugs are sold in front of schools all day...

I remember, in 1993, in El Cajon, California, to watch a dealer selling for a bunch of teenagers, and at the same time a police car passing by, in plain daylight. Later, assisting a Santana concert on an stadium in San Diego, so many around were smoking, and the smell of marihuana was so strong, that I can say that everybody was in drugs that night....including the police.

  8. Sure....police attitude with a rich and famous was wrong..but not anusual in other countries. In this case was an accident, and she didn't look drunk or impared at the scene....At the funeral....she may did what is normal for Thais...but not for farangs. I give her the benefits of the doubt.

In the case of O.J.Simpson in the murder of his wife and friend in California, he surrended his self after trying to flee the country, admited his guelty to the police officers at the police station in front of his lawyer... but.....he was allowed to rest and relax one night before signing the confession.

The next day his new lawyers were with him...You all know the end of the history....

  9. Most women wear 7 different personalities.

1... in front of co workers, and family

2....in a foreign country where nobody know them

    3....with their female friends

    4... with their male friends

    5... with their husbands

    6... with their lovers

    7... between 4 walls

    Asian women personalities?...Totally unpredictable

  10. I understood that the Minimum Wage in Thailand is about 300 THB/week....or about 9000 THB/month, .and I understood that the Government had some kind of control of that...but... few months ago a big and expensive restaurant opened close to my home, and some university students I know in my area are working there.

Last week, I asked one of the students about his new job. He work 6 days a week, from 3PM to 1PM serving tables and helping with other shores on the new place. The compensation is 2 meals a day plus a salary of 5.500 THB a month, and rarely he get tips to increase his earnings.
