  1. A Lao gf living in Thailand. Way under 50 years old so METV is the only thing that makes financial sense. Ideally need maybe 2 more years in Thailand like this with METVs before we move to another country permanently. How much time in other countries generally is a good idea?

    Utapo Airport

Which neighboring countries usually have cheap flights to Utapo Airport and roughly how much the flights?
  3. If someone were to be unlucky and get denied entry at BKK airport with a METV, which other neighbouring countries would it be best to fly out to so they can try again to enter Thailand via air or by land? And which airports or land borders into Thailand?
  4. From my readings on the net, it seems these injections last 3 months and are a little more better in terms of percentage protection over the pill. Does anyone have experience with using this in Thailand? Roughly how much does each 3 month injections cost? Any recommendations for getting this done in Pattaya?
  5. Ok thanks. How many days in advanced do you need to make an online appointment and do these online appointments fill up very quickly?
  6. I think the Embassy/Consulates in Australia were ok with multiple METV issued pre-Covid. Any reports from anyone else recently on how they are these days?
  7. Is Laos passport holders one of them with unlimited land border bounces into Thailand too?
  8. How long would be considered "substantial stays in other countries"? What about near back to back METV from your home country with one month spent in your home country? (Not SETV)
  9. Are there big queues in Vientiane? Do they issue it the same day or how many days later after submitting?
  10. Is the 180 days in one year reset on 1st Jan and only apply to a calendar year? Say you stay 180 days from July to December in the previous year for example.

    Motorcycle license

Go back to Oz, do your pre-Learners course, get your L's and stay on them for 6 months. Book in and do your day test to get your P's and stay on them for a full year. Then get your IDP with a motorcycle endorsement on it. Then go to Thailand and get your Thai Drivers Licence for a motorcycle.
  12. Exactly my questions were silly. Because I got a very silly response below: My original questions were what needed to be declared when taking Thai baht and is it safe declaring it in Laos at the airport & at the land border crossing. Will they try and extract some of that from you if you declare it to them.
  13. Do they have ATMs in small villages? Do the ATMs give you Thai Baht? Do the ATMs let you withdraw 500k baht in one transaction? Do the ATMs let you withdraw for free with no fees? I'm guessing it's a big fat "no" for all of these questions.
  14. Won't you have still declare it at Nong Khai when exiting Thailand and when entering Laos via land? Same rules apply. Apparently anything over US$2k needs to be declared when entering Laos from any mode of transport.
  15. Yes, that's also the source I read and got the info from the Wise website. But if leaving via the airport, would they question you if you took under the 450k baht limit but your flight ticket was to Vientiane? Because the usual limit is 50k baht but legally flying over the border you're allowed up to 450k baht.
  16. If taking cash (Thai Baht) out of Thailand and bringing it into Laos, I believe the limit is 450k baht before you have to declare it when leaving Thailand, if taking it to any neighbouring country, is this correct? Is this only for cash or if you also take gold with a combined value over this, you then need to declare this when leaving Thailand? When arriving in Laos, either by airport or land border crossing (Eg. Nong Khai), I believe that anything over US$2k in cash and/or gold needs to be declared. Considering how corrupt everything is in Laos, is it safe declaring all of this when flying into Vientiane airport or crossing via land at Nong Khai?
  17. What is the reason for the 50k limit on all banks except the above 3? Why are Bangkok Bank, Kasikorn and SCB exempt from this?
  18. I have a 2 year temporary Thai motorbike licence from the Pattaya office. If only one year has passed, is it possible to go and apply to get the 5 year one or do you have to wait for the 2 year period to be expired/close to expired? There is actually a reason why I would like to do this but the reason is not important to post here.
  19. Thanks for your input. Will that be possible? The Oz Immigration site says that it usually grants a "Visitor Visa Tourist Stream" with the condition attached to it "8503 No Further Stay", meaning no substantial visas can be applied for while in Oz, meaning that an application for a Partner Visa (apply in Australia) is not possible: https://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/visas/already-have-a-visa/check-visa-details-and-conditions/see-your-visa-conditions?product=600-29B Do you have any website links where a Partner Visa (apply in Australia) can be applied for and a Bridging Visa being granted while being a holder of a Visitor Visa Tourist Stream? Thanks
  20. Is it possible for her to have a baby here in a public hospital while on a Visitor Visa Tourist Stream? Would Medicare cover this since I'm an Aussie citizen or not because the baby is coming out of her body, not my body? Alternatively, would getting private health insurance with pregnancy cover be beneficial? I think they all have 12 month waiting periods for this. I've never had private health insurance in Australia, so this is also all new to me.
  21. Hoping that some people can help here with their previous experiences. My girlfriend and I (an Aussie citizen), are planning on her coming to Oz on a "Visitor Visa Tourist Stream (apply outside Australia)" then for us to marry in Oz. We will then immediately apply for a "Partner Visa" for her to live in Oz forever with me and for us to have a baby quickly once she is living in Oz with me. I believe tourist visas are granted for a 12 month period as multiple entry and each entry can stay for a maximum of 3 months. I believe that if staying in Oz on a tourist visa, you are not allowed to stay for more than a total of 12 months in an 18 month period. Is it faster to get approved for the "Partner Visa (apply in Australia)" or the "Partner Visa (apply overseas)"? Does anyone have recent experience with this? Does going through an agent fast-track getting a Partner Visa at all? Are there any real benefits in using an agent? Is it possible to apply for a "Partner Visa" immediately after marrying in Oz while she's on a "Visitor Visa Tourist Stream" or does the application have to be from outside the country? Do all "Visitor Visa Tourist Stream" get the condition attached to it "8503 No Further Stay" so you can't apply for another visa while in Oz? Has anyone successfully got the "8503 No Further Stay" condition waived on a "Visitor Visa Tourist Stream"? Looking at the Immigration website it says "While you are in Australia, you are unable to make a valid visa application for any new substantive visa other than a protection visa." so that would mean a "Partner Visa (apply in Australia)" wouldn't be possible, only an overseas application, but when I have Googled this, sometimes "Visitor Visa Tourist Stream" gets issued without this condition in the past. Looking at the processing time for either of the two Partner Visas take a very long time. It could take up to 37 months for 90% of applicants. This would be a very long time before she can live here. I'm wondering, after applying for a "Partner Visa (apply overseas)" if she can still come back to live here at 3 months at a time on the already approved Visitor Visa and maybe flying to New Zealand and back every 3 months until the 12 months expire? Then is it possible to apply for another "Visitor Visa Tourist Stream (apply in Australia)" if the Partner Visa is not yet approved and do the same until the time that the Parner Visa is approved? There is also a "Visitor Visa Sponsored family stream", I'm not sure if this can be used in conjuction to help at all. Anyone know about this? Thanks
  22. Curious to know how much would an 18yo virgin would get for sin sod in Laos?
  23. Do you know or have a website link for the process about this, and the rough costs & what documentation is involved?
  24. Apparently the steps to get married is to go to her village, pay the sin sod and for the village police chief to come and sign some papers, then you are legally married in the village. This then allows you to move on to the next stage of progressing further to a full marriage licence which could take around a year and cost 120,000 baht for all the costs to the government, but once this initial stage is complete, you can legally sleep together and stay at the parents house in the village, if you so wish. Does this sound correct to you guys?
