  1. Now until 31st March via land border crossings, is it 30 day entries or 45 days entries given to eligible countries who previously were given 30 days? Just want to make sure of this, otherwise I'll have to look at flying instead.
  2. Can a foreigner & Laos national go on the title of the house/land if they are married and buy it together?
  3. Was this at one of the small cheaper hotels or more expensive hotels? Did you book the hotel online via a site like Agoda or Booking dot com and just put one name on the reservation, but book the room for 2 people?
  4. She is Lao. She said to me it's no problems as far as it's not staying in her village. I've read online about the issues with non-married couples so I'm not 100% convinced that it will be safe to stay in a hotel with her in Vientianne, even if she told me "no problem"
  5. What about staying in a Vientianne hotel with Lao girlfriend as a non-married couple, is this risky?
  6. I've already done two 45 day visa exempt entries via BKK airport plus 30 day extensions during end of 2022. This is about to come to an end so I'll need to exit and come back in again. I'm looking at doing a land border bounce via Nong Khai and stay in Vientianne for 2 nights then coming back to Thailand again to get another 45 day visa exempt entry, then do another 30 day extension. This will be my 1st ever land border crossing. I will also spend these 2 nights at a hotel in Vientianne with my girlfriend. We are not married. Will any of these things I've got planned be an issue? (The border bounce or staying in a Laos hotel with girlfriend as a non-married couple)
  7. I have a 6-month contract in my condo (which I presented to do the TM30) and I did a border run to Cambodia on January 20. I have to go make a new TM30 then? At the rental agency they keep telling me that it's not necessary... I'm confused You need to do a TM30 within 72 hours of arriving or you will get a nice 1,600 baht fine by immigration when you go for an extension of stay. Don't listen to the agent or owner.
  8. Seems there are a sheetload of tourists in Thailand these days, judging by the insane number of people at Immigration. Thailand must be raking it in big time now as Immigration has never ever been this busy as it currently is this month.
  9. Are they regarded as a "safe" bus company?
  10. Anyone had any positive or negative experiences with the (Bor Kor Sor) บขส 407 Pattaya to Nong Khai bus?
  11. The 45 days exempt is both for flying in and land border crossings, correct?
  12. Has anyone here taken a bus from Pattaya to Vientiane? How safe are the busses & drivers driving this route? Alternatively, what's the best way to get from Pattaya to Vientiane and rough costs if anyone here knows? Fly, bus, train? I'm assuming that you need to take a bus to Nong Khai then another bus from Nong Khai to Vientiane, correct? Is there a VIP bus & roughly how much are the prices? Does the bus depart from North Pattaya Rd bus terminal? I believe we also need to have USD$40 or 1,500 baht on us for a visa to enter Laos for up to 30 days.

    Haircut in Pattaya

Who the f-ck cares how much it is in the US. This is the Pattaya thread, not the USA thread.
  14. Acyzin - yes, this brand was 200 baht when I bought it from that 2nd rd pharmacy which I mentioned previously. Fascino, any difference in price between the one on North Pattaya, Central Pattaya & South Pattaya Rd? Which one is the best one to go to?
  15. So we can walk in and get convert our overseas licence with an IDP on the same day now to get the temp 2 year licence?
  16. Did you run into any issues when going over to Laos with either yourself or your son? Considering that they regard as sex before marriage to be a big no-no as a way to extort bribes and they seem not to recognise marriage in any other foreign country.
  17. I'm wondering how easy or complicated it is to marry in Hong Kong and what type of costs are involved. Anyone here with 1st hand experience over the past few years?
  18. After marrying in the UK, was is a quick and easy process to get the marriage recognised to be legal in Laos?
  19. Which other countries are "friendlier" than Laos should one decide to get married to a Lao citizen? Has this changed in the past few years? From what I've read, people have gotten married to Lao people in Thailand in the past. For example, this thread from 2012:
  20. I've heard getting married to a Lao person in Laos is very difficult and expensive and not many people attempt it. Not sure how much the costs are or how long it actually takes though. Also, you're not meant to have sex with a Lao national before marriage, so this could prove problematic for many foreigners. Do people usually marry their Lao partner in Thailand, or another country? Will the marriage be recognised in Laos? "Permission for marriage or engagement to a Lao citizen must be submitted in a formal application to Lao authorities. Penalties for failing to register a relationship range from USD$ 500-5,000, and possibly imprisonment or deportation."
  21. 2nd Rd, near Soi Diana, next to the massage shop. That small pharmacy there. I suspect some on Soi Buakhao would be similar.
  22. Yes, you're being fleeced. 200 baht for the Thai brand is normal.
  23. Is this something that happens very often in Laos? Foreigners getting caught and having to pay fines? Do the owners of the hotels or neighbours often dob in the foreigners?
