The government should compensate for these deaths.
Will they get to the bottom of where the insurance policy money went to ?
If a clerical error, then surely the insurance should pay out.
Or just more stuff swept under the bulging rug ?
Why should the government compensate for this?
It is not the government's responsibility. You act like a U.S. welfare recipient. Never thinking where the money the government spends really comes from. Private business is just that, private. If there is wrongdoing then go to court. Don't always expect the government to intervene.

Was 500 baht about two weeks ago. Anyway, when I hand them my paperwork, that is what I give with it. If you give more, you will probably not get any change. So, give the correct amount. I have never gotten a receipt.

If he can hold them off for another 20 years, he will have nothing to worry about. According to the PM, corruption will have ended by then.

You can buy liquor at most of the larger super markets, ie, Big C. Tesco Lotus Extra, etc.

I don't steal them because I always get the one with the messed up wheel. It would be too hard to get away.

How many are considering a move if there are more immigration offices? Would you consider moving to Roi-Et now?
I know when I moved to Khon Kaen. The fact that there was an immigration office here was a definite factor.
-
That may be so, but Obama sure thinks he can.

It may be worth staying in Khon Kaen for the night so that you can get there early. Yes, it is only about a 15 minute drive for me.

Went to Khon Kaen immigration today to do my first Extension of Stay. Got there at 0800. Door opened at 0830 and I got my number. Number 5, that is. Number called about 0840, sat down with immigration officer. Had to fill out the new form about my social life and such. Only filled in a little bit and sign the form about overstay. Immigration officer did his thing and at 0915 walked out with my one year extension of stay. Oh yeah, he also stapled the receipt from the tm-30 and put the slip in as to when my 90 day report is due. I don't think it can get any better than that. Every Time I have dealt with Khon Kaen, immigration they have been superb.

You are not the only one. Quite a few people have told me that there are many shops around town that do great work. But, no one has told me where even one of them are. An address or a land mark would be nice.
Thank you

I believe there is a Maxxis in Kalasin. They sell their own brand of Tire plus all the other main brands such as Bridgestone and Michelin. They do front end alignments, balance wheels. They also do brakes, shocks.
I use them here in Khon Kaen. There are about 3 maybe more of them here.
Prices are quite good.

Does anyone know of an Auto body and paint shop in Khon Kaen where I can get some minor damage on my Chevy Colorado repaired? The dealer says, they don't do it.
Any help would be appreciated.

I am from Texas, so I greet everyone with "Howdy". I don't often get a response.

20 yrs ago I couldn't collect Social Security,
And 20 years from now, Social Security will be a distant memory.
Don't agree there will still have goverment hand outs in 20 years
Social Security is not a government hand out. It is something that had to be paid into, and I paid into it since I was 14 yrs old.

TerryLH,
You are correct. I am not very familiar with any of the names of streets. I usually just know which way I want to go and take a songthaew that is heading in that direction. When I am ready to come home, I call a taxi. That is why the interest in the Bus.
-
well I should say to start off it is actually 15 baht to ride.
I live in Khon Kaen and never rode this bus. So the Mrs and I decided to ride it and see exactly where it goes. We left from Fairy Plaza because that is where we were when we decided to go on this venture.
The bus seems to come by every 20-30 minutes and stops right out front of Amazon Coffee. Which is a good place to wait for it. The bus is quite nice and like I said, it is Air Conditioned. It seats about 20 people with hand holds for those standing up. There were about 10 people on the bus, so we had plenty of room. I couldn't figure out why there weren't more people on it. After all, it was air conditioned and only 15 baht. I think it is even less for students.
Well anyway, off we were. It went up past the post office and proceeded that way for quite a while, then it turned on a road that I was unfamiliar with. I have seen it before but not sure what is down there worth anything. It zig zagged through the streets but never went by anyplace that was important. It didn't stop at any hospitals or government offices or anywhere that I could imagine going. It did stop at Central Plaza, "kind of". It stopped on the other side of the 4 lane highway. You would have to try and cross 4 lanes of traffic in order to get there.
We proceeded until we got to the city gate, turned left and headed toward the airport. Right after passing Makro and the mini C it makes a U turn and goes to the new bus station. There you get on another, pay another 15 baht and go back almost the same way.
I can't for the life of me think of why I would ever ride this bus again. It doesn't go anywhere near any decent hospitals, doesn't go to the drivers license place. Doesn't go near the immigration building. Can't go to Big C or Tesco extra.
The Mayor says that the service will only continue if there is ridership. Well, how about going someplace that the people want to go.
The mayor did say that maybe next year if there is a demand for it, they will add extra routes.
I say change the stupid route you have now and maybe people will ride the damned thing.

Don't know if this will help. I used White Swan to move my stuff from the USA. They constantly keep you in the dark. I always had to contact them to know the progression of my shipment.
On the other hand, I used BoonMa relocation service to ship the family dog. The girl that handled everything involved is named May. She called constantly to keep me up to date on everything.
If I had to do it again, I would have used Boonma to handle the whole move. I suggest you call May at tel. 086 511 4266 and see what she can do for you. They are located in Bangkok, Just google them and get the address.
I have no affiliation with this company, but when someone does me right, I like to give them a good word.
Good Luck on your move.

I just obtained a Non "O" multi entry visa from the the Thai Consulate Generals office in Houston, TX. I did, have to show marriage certificate and wife's passport to the person accepting applications. Easy as pie though. Turned in, in the morning and ready for pickup by 2:30 PM.

My Linksys router is dual voltage, so no problem in Thailand.

Your child is also eligible to get a Thai passport as long as the mothers nationality is Thai, stated on the birth certificate. Then your child can have two passports. At least it was this way when my kids were born,

Thanks, my bank has the capability. Guess I'll give it a try.

A little off subject, but does anyone know of a woodworker that can make me some clothes racks in Khon Kaen? Doesn't have to be fancy just strong. Something like this.
