  1. But we are already using fusion energy every day. Storing it for nighttime use is the problem. Here is a solution for that which has nothing to do with lithium, cobalt or expensive to produce hydrogen. Made by an Australian company the formula includes Zinc and Bromine https://www.bestmag.co.uk/redflow-completes-installation-its-biggest-zinc-bromine-flow-battery-date/#:~:text=Flow battery firm Redflow has, zinc bromide batteries to date. Another technology is coming hard on the heals of this which is a solid state version called Gelion. These should be going into production later before the end of 2023. https://gelion.com/latest-news/ Both of the above are non-combustible, can be fully discharged and are happy over a very wide temperature range.
  2. True story about a man. An AVO 8 and an 11kv board. A technician (articifer) needed to check something with his meter but didn't lock off the board after disconnection. A colleague switched the board back on unaware of the situation. The AVO 8 went into orbit and undoubtedly saved the technicians life. The technician spent a week in hospital before honourable discharge on medical grounds.
  3. It would also vaporize whatever was being welded including the welder maybe.
  4. Ah. Right. I was only thinking of solar for some reason.
  5. Wow. Where can I get those solar panels.
  6. That's the case I had in mind. I was unaware of the final outcome. Is there anything ongoing re. her passport?
  7. Can anyone give me an idea what this means?
  8. Arc flash at 400v? Certainly electric shock is likely to have fatal results at that voltage.
  9. My first project was 96v. Very much do-able. "are there any other benefits to using an HV (389-400V) ESS?" Yes. High voltage = low current so the copper cables are much smaller therefore less expensive.
  10. Hmmm. A contactless contractor. I guess he left his contact details in the event of any rework required............
  11. As far as I know, any government can take away a persons passport as long as that person is not made stateless by such action.
  12. I can help you with that. After many fruitful years, my ESS is now accelerating in an unreasonable direction and causing me to start using PEA although bills are not too big. Although batteries are expensive, I am about 35k Baht better off than I would have been without solar and batteries. The big plus for me is my contribution to climate change which, as far as electricity is concerned, has been zero for years. I will be constructing my new storage soon and will start a new thread on it's progress.
  13. Add to this downtown discussion that we say things like, Question "Where are you going?" Answer "Down the road shopping" Up and Down are often used.
  14. The last page is simply contact information and has no need for any legal status. The existence of this information is deemed to be a request from the passport owner for the listed person to be contacted in case of (undefined) emergency. It has to be presumed that the contact name and address was entered by the owner of the passport. If that page is not filled in then the embassy will need to contact the appropriate agency to locate next of kin. The main task for the embassy is to contact various government agencies like tax and national insurance etc. who need to know if a customer is no longer entitled to anything or to claim off the estate even. This has absolutely nothing to do with what happens to the passport owners posesions after they are dead.
  15. I read that article too and was quite please about the progress being made. How does this all affect us end users? In a nutshell, less roof space for the same amount of energy or more energy from the same roof space. I would imagine the price would increase along with the extra buzz word "perc". Our cells include the perc effect which makes them better performers and so we have to charge more........
  16. I agree entirely about the necessity to write a will. but the will is, in my opinion, second tier. First tier is to contact the deceased's next of kin and/or nominated person and the relevant embassy. Information for both of these should be found in the passport. Hopefully the person died with his passport on or near them. If the embassy is contacted first then they would use the information on the last page of the passport to contact the OP's nominated partner. The wording in the passport is:- "The holder should insert below particulars of two relatives or friends who may be contacted in the event of accident."
  17. On the last page of your passport you should have written the name and address of the person to be contacted. That should be enough.
  18. I have seen some plug in ones on Lazada for about 250 Baht, They seem to be a plug in version of the permanent ones in CU's They have a test button which gives some measure of confidence. Don't know how good they are but probably ok,
  19. Way too much damned new fangled technology going on here. No wonder we're getting a bit over weight. Come in Hal (2001 space oddity) all is forgiven.
  20. The name really says it all. PSI = Pounds from Stupid Idiots
  21. I agree with all the above. That thing gets filed under the category of "How to make a fast Baht out of the technologically challenged populace."
  22. Shame indeed. Some time ago, when an illegal sugar cane fire was reported to the police, the Thai complainant was told not to worry about it because it would be finished after a few minutes. As long as that attitude persists there will be never be an end to pollution. Government responses are fine but what is needed is active policing of the problem and a means to discourage corruption.
  23. They've done that where I am also but using lake water instead. We have very few bored locals here.
