  1. Thailand Pass - How Long? About six inches I think. Sorry. I seem to be in a flippant mood today
  2. Yeah. You're quite right. This was a specific example of a price increase. This comment was meant to have been more general. I hadn't intended that it be connected with what my son reported. My bad. The Pandemic has cut into the retail trade quite disastrously for many traders. Many people have had to get by on reduced income which is reflected in their reduced spending. Now that things are returning, albeit slowly, to a form of normality, the commercial sector has generally hiked prices to replace lost income due to the pandemic. Why? Because they can.
  3. Insignificant correction. It took my wife 45 minutes and she had to pay 1 whole Baht. Reason for the high price was..........Covid. ????
  4. Yeah. It surprised me too. Maybe it will change again before next year.
  5. This is not confined to Thailand. My son in the UK tells me electricity prices there have risen by 50%. It's all to do with recouping losses caused by the Covid pandemic. These are losses which we all have to live with but retailers will not accept this and bump up their prices wherever they can.
  6. Yesterday I went to the new Buriram immigration office for my extension based on marriage. I had booked an on-line appointment which, as it happened, wasn't really necessary. The lady at the information desk in the new office took all the paperwork and checked to make sure everything was in order and had me sign a few things also. I went and sat to wait for the immigration officer to deal with the only other customer who was there. My wife went through the document signing she had to do at the information desk before she joined me. My wife was also informed that Kor Ror 2 is now no longer required. After 10 minutes or so it was my turn to go before the immigration officer who simply rearranged the documents, checked and stamped them and asked me to sign a few more. I paid the money and got my passport back and we were out of the office about 20 minutes all told. Well done them. Not an unpleasant experience at all. Apparently this office only deals with Farang. The i-Stadium office is dedicated for other Asian immigration business. I don't know if the old office in the main government complex is still in use but the new one is very modern and well designed with it's own parking spaces close by.
  7. The UK government is in dereliction of it's promises to green up and help the environment A few years ago they helped people to install solar power in their homes. Now the only people who can benefit from solar are the larger scale producers. If you are a UK citizen, please can you help to reinstate this environmentally friendly scheme by signing the petition. https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/609063

  8. My scary idea was with reference to the output of the inverter "house supply is properly connected only to the house" should have read "house supply from the inverter, is properly connected only to the house". My mind is currently full of visa extension thoughts today so some of the information got missed out.
  9. One scary idea has occurred to me. Are you certain that your house supply is properly connected only to the house and not to the utility supply?
  10. The most obvious way would be to disconnect the utility supply at the incoming isolator and see if you are sending anything out from the inverter. With no utility supply present there should be nothing on the utility supply output from the inverter. Your house supply should be unaffected.
  11. I'm very happy that this "back door" hack has been actioned on this occasion however it also highlights the potential for manipulating warranty periods. The product stops working about five minutes after warranty has expired and the repair bill is significantly more than the cost of resetting the date on an internal processor. I have a feeling this happens a lot.
  12. Firstly: The size of single core is not too difficult to check. 2.5mm² = 1.8mm dia. 4.0mm² = 2.25mm dia. Secondly: If you can get your hands on a crimping tool, make the joint with in-line crimp terminals. Your local electrical shop should have them. https://shopee.co.th/Tool-House.ay-SO-8209-14-Cold-Pressed-Terminal-Crimp-Pliers-5.5-8209-14mm²-17-8209-6-AWG-Crimper-for-Bare-Terminals-i.441559148.6293909588?sp_atk=6032389a-518e-4164-8958-c3538ff5e339 https://shopee.co.th/✨PTPTRATE✨50pcs-Insulated-Straight-Butt-Connectors-Electrical-Crimp-Terminals-Assorted-Kit-i.105906226.1678686016?sp_atk=2a3ae28e-89ba-4572-ba40-5c4cbde59855
  13. Word of caution. Those Choc-Block connectors are not as sturdy as they used to be. Tighten the screws too much and the bottom of the receptacle will split leaving a weak connection.
  14. Please can anyone point me in the right direction for a supplier of polycarbonate or acrylic sheet 180cm x 90cm x 6mm thick in the Isaan part of the country.
