There are many cases involving this type of scamming sounding very genuine and offering high returns coupled with romantic promises, involving initially thousands then even millions of baht.

Let's hope this permission is genuine and all embracing!

I am ashamed of Mark Kent's role in this! Obviously he is under orders from HMG back home, but why do I get the feeling that he is expressing his own views as well? If so, this whole episode is degenerating into a pathetic saga which will come to bit the LOS in the tail.

Don't start me off on Bangkok Airway's monopoly on routes to Samui. They broke even 11 years ago, but are still screwing visitors with their monopoly! Otherwise totally conflicting figures! By excluding the islands, figures are meaningless anyway, as Samui is the crown in Thailand's tourism effort!

Sounds a bit drastic to me!

I am concerned about official suggestions that the two accused could be susceptible to a possible suicide attempt.

Surely even in Thai prisons, they know how to conduct suicide watch and take proper precautions? If these two were to die now with so much doubt about the case awash throughout the world, it would be a very dark day indeed for Justice in Thailand.

How is it that the whole world is so unconvinced that there are currently 280,000 signatures and millions of baht being raised to provide a fighting fund for these two lads. Why? If justice has been done, this would be superfluous and pointless as well as insulting to the parents of the two victims!

Come up with some real facts!

As a lawyer and Medic, I am utterly appalled at the outcome of this case. So many posters already predicted that Burmese migrant workers would be accused in the end, but even I doubted if the Police could be that unwary and unwitting to produce an outcome such as this, when the world's spotlight is directly on them.

Everything I hear and read flies in the face of evidence and the truth. What on earth are they thinking of? Are there no psychologists available to point them to the likely reaction of the rest of the world's opinion?

Where are the DNA test results and why are they not independently verified?

Excellent summary and blog about life in Afghanistan. My son has recently returned from two tours of duty there. Religion is used as an excuse, any excuse, by

the minority extremists to justify any action they choose!

In fact there is some excellent and advanced medical research going on in Thailand right now. I too hope that this announcement is not premature, but there have to be some double-blind trials before it will be accepted by the medical community. Let's wait until Thursday then decide?

No more postal applications to Consulates in the U.K.

Why must the Thai Visa system be made so complicated?

I think the most important thing is the same level of education and social status. I only know and mix with anyone who has the same level of income as me, or more ! That way, gold digging doesn't apply! It is a stereotype, I agree, but it is still rife in Isaan!
