Wish they made the Aerox in 250cc all the bigger cc scooters get so large, the size of my aerox is acceptable.

The sell a few variator kits  and lighter roller weights to make the Aerox go faster, pretty cheap, im thinking about getting one when I have time to tinker

Not so worried about saving the fuel just the issue of running out in the middle nowhere.  I'm 35kms out of town and fuelling places are few and far between.

People are averaging At least 150km range on the Aerox forums before the gas warning starts flashing but if you to be cautious better get the pcx with the 8 litre tank

Doesn't really bother me, I'd never be 150km from a gas station on my scooter....

If I did that then I'd have to do the same with a Thai licence too.

It would have been a bit impolite too. Like, saying I don't trust you, put it in writing.

I did ask if there was a website with these details.  The foreigner officer said he wished and that the Thai's probably left it at the idea that it's in the Geneva Convention so checkable there and no need to advertise it.

If each person goes down and asks they will get there own idea of the rule and the trustworthiness of it.

Don't trust me. Go and check.

I don't need to trust you. I don't need to go check

I just went through the bullshit necessary to get Thai licences.....

I'm suggesting a way of getting a legal licence if one is denied and you feel as though you are hard done by. Don't avoid getting a Thai licence by any means. If you are forced not to have a Thai licence there is the IDP option.  Or , if you find out that the IDP just is easier and as legal, it may be a chosen better option for some.  I'm not forcing anyone's hand either way. I am even unsure myself.  Still need some facts.   I hope we together can clear up some possible misunderstandings regarding what an IDP is and some of the possible things it is not.  Sorry, in fear of retribution each one of us is entitled to silence.  Each one of us will have our own differing hardships.

You're looking for the answer you want at this stage rather than the truth/reality ....

Ask those police who told you to put it in writing and sign it with his  name and badge number

Yeah, cash withdrawal from BX costs money. I think I was deducted 40 Baht when I withdrew 10'000 Baht and 50 Baht when I withdrew 20'050 Baht.

It only gets worse when you start trading in tens of millions....

There is  exchange opened recently I expect a lot of users will move over

Can't remember the name of it but by 2020 there will probably be at least  a dozen exchanges to choose from so bx can enjoy their monopoly while it lasts

  6. Bx is good but the fees are a bit greedy sometimes for cash withdrawal but they have a practical monopoly at the moment which will evaporate when the market has now competitors

(if you sell a bitcoin they take fees for the sale like any exchange would , but when you want to withdraw the cash, they ALSO charge 10thb per 10,000thb)  and we are talking about a free kasikorn to kasikorn transfer before someone suggests it's the banks fault (it isn't)

This is not the case with other cryptocurrency exchanges and it may not bother people who trade small amounts but it gets excessive when you want to trade larger amounts or only profiting from the daily swings etc

"You got that straight Son!...hindsight is always crystal clear...like how's the old saying go...20-20? Just like your crystal ball, it seems. As for your example above...it's a bit disingenuous as anyone could cherry pick a chart recently (or anytime) to show a dramatic and "embarrassing" move down too. Even more sketchy is how you remarked that it was unfair, shortsighted and "ridiculous" of me to post a 1-month chart last month...then you go on to post a 12 day chart to prove your point. :1zgarz5: The ol' hindsight adage comes to mind...again. But I digress."

IT seems to me, you are the one cherry picking  dates,  But let's use real numbers.  I will pick an arbitrary date of January 1, 2013.  Thats 1879 days ago.  Bitcoin now (as I write this)  is $9837.00  So if you had bought bitcoin at any time between jan 1, 2013 to  about Nov 30, 2017,  and held you would be making money.   That's 1794 days out of 1879 days , or 95% of the days,    After Nov 30 some days you'd be losing a lot, other days you'd still be ahead,  so on better than 95% of the time a "cherry picked" day is a winner.

You could also count From 2009-2013 onwards so the number of positive days to buy it would actually be even higher than 95% and I predict in the next economic crisis  (coming soon apparently) more people will run into cryptos and maybe gold as a "safe haven" when the sky comes crashing down on stocks etc

It matters less what the outgoing  generation don't like than what the upcoming  generation DO like and 2/3 of millennials surveyed would rather invest in cryptocurrency than stocks and they distrust banks and financial institutions (deservedly so) after witnessing  2008

It sounds to me like thay're building a list of people. I should renew my 5 year license before this nonsense becomes active.

The test we have to pass in the UK/Europe would leave many Thais unable to drive for all of their lives.

I don't know if they will let you renew your licence until its within 90 days of expiry date

That's what they told me anyway in bkk

  9. If you stayed clear of bubbles, you would have to avoid investing in stocks, bonds, gold and the currently overpriced property market...... Not. Only. Cryptocurrencys....

There are no certaintys and no investment  instruments  worth doing with 0.0% risk,  in my view the risk/ reward ratio in crypto is higher than anything else and therfore worth  the risk but as always, stay well diversified in a broad group of asset classes

I had quite a farcical experience myself while trying for the 2 year.  Sorry, those details I keep to myself. Not only me, but the room was full of unsatisfied polite and humble people.  That day I was actually proud of humanity at the site of all the foreigners keeping their cool in the event of diversity.

Many years ago when I was working with a work permit, I was on a 5 year licence. No major hassles then. But my current view has changed.

The IDP was literally done within 5 minutes online.

Can you please tell me more about the 90 day rule? Have you been told it by police officers, Have you seen it online?

I'd like to include it here for everyone to be certain of it.

My thought is that the 90 day rule has  been made up and used by some officers to gain benefit and it's stuck.  By calmly explaining to officers that the international licence is backed by the Geneva Convention and embassy approved and you would  like to confirm with them first then it may knock down the attempted misinformation.

But I don't want to think too much. Hopefully we can find the source of the rule

Try explaining the Geneva convention to an angry Thai cop if you get in some accident or type of trouble..... Good luck

Nice comparison and useful info.  I'm on my 3rd PCX and considering an Aerox as a next change but the fuel consumption and tank capacity really puts me off.  The PCX consistently gives me around 39/40 km/L and with the much larger tank I only need to fill up every 250 or so kms. Your indicated 33.6km/L and a tank size of around 4 litres means only half the range and living out in the sticks that could get a little tedious.

    You're right in that regard

There is 25 Litres of underseat storage and I would be much happier with a 10 Litre tank or even larger and sacrifice some of that storage space but yamaha don't consult me before they make a bike for some reason

Would be a good DIY project if anyone knew how to connect  an additional aftermarket tank in the 25litre storage area to the primary tank? .....

I use mine in the city anyway so it's not too bad to stop for a bottle of water and check phone messages sometimes

BTW You can get 45km/pl if you ride  like grandma going to market..... But if we going to worry about saving fuel you could buy a wave 110i and get 70km/pl....

It's all about the price, Click gives good bang for the buck.

Honda is still very popular here but okay the young Thais looks more for design now, that little bike 150cc M-Slach (or whatever its called) is very popular among young Thai men.

I wish my bike needs are as easy to satisfy as Moonlover's:smile:

Aerox is too small for me, my knees are hitting the fairing, Nmax perhaps when my 5-6 years old PCX will be changed.

You could reshape the seat very cheaply and remove the bump and get it covered so you could sit further back

I thought it would be too small for me but I rented one anyway but I'm only 6'

Naw.  Just quite a few trips from Korat to Nong Khai, my favorite "stomping" ground. A few trips from Korat to Pattaya.  1 trip from Korat to Chang Rai.  Fair amount of "local travel".

    How old is the bike?

I thought I was bad clocking up 100km a day just whizzing around town lol

In my neck of the woods it goes something like this:

    Click 50%
    Wave 30%
    PCX. 10%

The remaining 10% made up of Scoopi, Fino, Cub and the rest minus Aerox !!

For the last 2 days ( when I started paying attention ) have not seen 1 Aerox !!

Strange as it seems like a good machine !

It's relatively new compared to the wave and click and pcx that have been available for yonks.... I see loads of them in bkk daily  (new without plates yet) and they seem to be outselling the new pcx

What has come to my mind right away :

*How come the authorities (or the public in general) haven't made a fuss, in that polygamy is not legal in Thailand ?!

*Would it have made it (and if yes, in what manner) to the media/social media in  a major way, if the case had involved a woman and 2 husbands ?!

It's fairly normal in  wealthy Thai society to have one big wife (Mia Luang)  and one little wife (Mia Noi)  who is usually about a decade younger

I have a Thai friend in this situation but his wives don't like each other

This case is only different because they all live in 1 House in harmony
