  1. It is actually "difficult" and "expensive" to get a job working on a garbage truck

I have heard you need to take a 30k loan to secure the position but the reason they sort through the waste so carefully is because some of it is worth money and you will earn at least triple whatever a normal Thai job pays so there  is big demand for this job, no matter how filthy it looks

    No it does not

You should probably not drive without the mandatory road tax and insurance, they call it "por ror bor"

Check the glove box for old ones, you can  usually get a new one at the dlt if you have an old one for only a few hundred baht

That would help in the short term to drive it legally, but without the book you wouldn't be able to  eventually sell it to anyone else

Yes, I bought the car and was convinced that the Book and registration was forthcoming. At this point the seller I bought it from has stopped communicating. This is why I need a good lawyer to pursue this man and formally report it to the police

What kind of car is it and what year?

If it's an older model it's less likely to on bank finance etc but if it's less than 5 years

That's a possibility why he does not provide any book for you

Was kinda shocked, saw Erdinger Dunkel on sale for 150 I think, its excellent value for a very special beer.

plus you can just drink it warm as the quality is there.

You can find it for 132 in some supermarkets... I'm drinking one right now lol

Also worth watching out for is Franciskaner and weisensteipher and maiselweiss (spellings probably wrong)

They're starting to become popular in some bkk supermarkets

    Sorryyyyyyyyyy.

Yes, this thread is about Chang, not about beer.

I got carried away, I am Belgian.

Chang used to be a reasonable Carlsberg imitation, some years ago.....

Belgians make some of the best beer in the world

I was replying to the other idiot above you

Chimay is another great beer they now sell in Thai

Some people think its too strong but they should stick to drinking  spy coolers and bacardi breezers .....

In the really touristy towns down south. Not much outside of Touristville.

Maxvalue and villa  tops and even Tesco   all have good German and Belgian  beers in them now although it is often sold out because I usually buy the whole shelf...

They don't order in loads because it's probably more expensive than the locals will pay for it

I'd forgotten about that, not heard it mentioned for years now. Yes it's a very good German bottled beer.

They have started selling a lot more German wheat beers in Tesco's and maxvalue around bkk...... 130--150thb for 500ml but worth every penny if you don't want to drink cheap Thai chemical produced  piss

I was out and about in Bangkok yesterday and saw loads of these Aerox. At one point the whole front row at the lights were these models. Not a huge fan of scooters but these are by far the best looking of the bunch IMO. Also saw a few Qbix scooters and a lot of Nmax, seems Yamaha are going from strength to strength.

    Feels  like a turbocharged 125cc

Really good power for the low price

Some people say the suspension setup is a bit too rigid but I like it that way!

By Dec 2017 people probably already know a lot about the Yamaha 155cc Aerox. I have a rented one from Mr Mechanic in Chiang Mai now and it's very impressive. It's blazing fast, balance is excellent at crawling speed so it's easy to snake between cars. Sophisticated engineering for the money. A lot of people rent these Aerox scooters in Chiang Mai, they better be durable and reliable. They're user friendly, ez to ride, they start instantly with fuel injection. I'm not much of a brand guy but these are a notch above the other Jappy scooters for now, according to rental bike fleet outfits that I've talked to here in Chiang Mai. I rode a Suzuki 150 Hayate long term in the Phillipines, Negros, Cebu and all over Bohol and thought it would be hard to find another scooter that good. I rented from Paul Whiteway who owns Kawasakis, Yamahas and Hondas. His personal fave was the Hayate because it rode and handled best, I believe it's the steering math and huge wheels. But I have to say the Aerox is really something, has a quality, substantial feel, it's got a hot rod engine, good handling and brakes. Rules out motorcycles for around town in my view, great looking for a scooter but not exactly Ducati presence out front of a cafe and can't make deep rumbly basso profundo sounds. Cockpit is a little tight for me on long distance, certainly no V-Strom but these scooters are ridden from Chiang Mai to Pai all the time, no problem. Quite some machinery for 70k brand new.

Mine was only about 65 in bkk for the " R" model

The lowest one was 62 but I didn't like the colours

Good decision!, I was tossing up between the Aerox and the NMAX and wisely  chose the NMAX and I am very happy too.

I rented both and I left the nmax back early to go buy an aerox....

Only minor annoyance is a smaller fuel tank on the Aerox but the Aerox is smaller, faster, lighter and more agile, great price too

Either of them is way better than a Pcx tho

If you go to have it changed, you need to go to the Dept of Consular Affairs(MFA). It is up on the 3rd floor, desk 150 I think. The info desk on the 2nd floor may say you need to go to immigration but just say its upstairs.

The guy will ask a load of questions and want to keep your passport while they investigate, initially he told me 3 days. I got it done on the same day as I had been for an extension and been refused by immigration and had a very short window on the bank letter.

Its not a busy desk but closes 15.30.

Already did it, they changed it with a pen lol

Just scribbled over the ib and wrote O beside it and official stamp etc

Entire thing took 20 min and no charge, very impressive

(but yes, information on the second floor tried to tell me I was in the wrong building and suggested to go the immigration building)

Seems like the 2nd floor don't know what they do on the third floor....

Except for those with permanent residence (where the procedure is rather different) the process for getting a reentry permit is simple. The requirements are:

    • Completed TM8 form
    • One photopgraph
    • 1,000 baht for single reentry permit and 3,800 baht for a multiple
    • (At some immigration offices, but not at airports on departure) proof that a TM30 notification was made

The type of visa used to enter Thailand, and type of any extension, has no bearing on the requirements for the reentry permit to keep your permission of stay intact.

Do you need to show a work permit to extend this type of  IB visa ?

(because I don't have one and that would be enough reason to go and get it changed)

You wrote you got a one year visa and that would mean a multiple entry visa. Vientiane does not issue multiple entry visa so I assume you only have a single entry visa that is on valid for 3 months from the date of issue.

    Yes, it says single entry

But it also says the expiry date is in October 2018. :)

Its no problem to go and change it if necessary , I live close  to bkk immigration
