  1. They will just start refusing customers who dont have many bags then. Idiotic idea that is purely a tit for tat Thainess loss of face because of the Japanese rant.
From now on all EXPATS from every country should start posting on social media to destroy the corrupt Taxi business in Thailand.
I would also say that EASY TAXI, GRAB TAXI and UBER TAXI which will never charge for bags are our first and foremost go to, the more people who use it the more Taxi there will be and it will help erase these rude and obnoxious scum from Bangkok streets.
    BOYCOTT

  2. Thiis man is a fine example of why reform is needed. This man made my day and allows me to dream for a bright future for the place I will one day retire in.

Just imagine….When this criminal and assault perpetrator Keng and his party offered 40% above market value for rice the local people without a doubt voted for him. They didn't care about his present or past because they are desperately poor and did anything for a better life for them and their children.

If a murderer and terrorist offered 41% above market value they would ignore Keng and vote for the murderer and terrorist. They would not care about his present or past because they are desperately poor and would do anything for a better life for them and their children.

Ensure the scheme is not sustainable and one can be guaranteed that in 4 years when the next election is knocking on the undemocratic doorstep of Thailand, the people, who were as poor as they were 4 years earlier will still vote for the murderer and terrorist who is billions of baht richer.

Offer people a sustainable life where they can support themselves without relying on anyone and they will then reflect a rational vote unchained from the desperate pathetic shadow of despair and hopelessness that forces them to vote with a clouded conscious.

This pathetic excuse of a man who optimizes the party that won the last election nearly 4 years ago is the pin up boy for why reform is needed and shows without a shadow of a doubt why the PTP are disappearing into obscurity.

    Nice :)

if only reform was possible in the land of reverse evolution.

  3. They should start their hunt at PANTIP PLAZA - Or perhaps at DON MUANG AIRPORT!
There are more Monks in Pantip buying 30,000 baht computers than i see in the temples!
And while we are at it - Why are monks suddenly flying everywhere when they are supposed to choose modest means of transport and dont have to rush around?
I see young monks flying everywhere with iphones!

    DISGRACEFUL!

  4. Please Lazada Thailand - do yourselves and the thousands of online foreign shoppers here a favour and make an english website. Even your Malaysian Website has an English version.
Its a fantastic website but such a BIG letdown that it doesnt have English.

  5. So any advice on the paperless system, i see this thread was started 4 years ago but still problems with importing things with Fedex, ups, dhl have not gone away in Thailand.

Any advice on how best to use these companies as a business in thailand?

  6. Imported 57 kg of products

Fedex was used by the supplier and they paid 430 shipping

when fedex received the items they made us wait 3 weeks while messing around with paperwork, we used them to clear customs as recommended here

Now they are trying to claim 47,000 baht in tax

the correct calculation is around 30,000 baht

the excuse they are giving me is because the tax is below 50,000 baht they already paid for us

FEDEX - BE WARNED - ive imported many times into Thailand and i know my paperwork

They are nothing but scammers in Thailand

    DO NOT EVER USE THEM!

  7. Have to agree based on personal experience - sometimes a heated argument between lovers needs to happen, whether in public or not, its just the way the cookie crumbles.
I think if i was bottled by my crazy estranged lover of 10 years, then some rescuer flies in and grabs her - i would probably do exactly the same. Purely to save the missus and get her away before the police intervene.
Maybe i have lived here too long... but sometimes meddling in other peoples affairs isn't the right thing to do...especially in Thailand as the Thai's also believe that.
Ofcourse if you see a bully picking on the weak and being a jerk, by all means floor the tw@t

But as docno says - yes if you can go in with smiles and Jai Yen and try and diffuse a situation, by all means be the hero... It can and often does calm a situation but case by case.

  8. Lets not forget the Thai sex industry that caters to the FARANGS is a mere fraction of perhaps 10% The real deal is Massive and kept for the Thais to enjoy, in the soapy and with white skinned northern Lasses being the most sought after. And yes the Vietnam war has nothing to do with the sex industry - The Chinese brought prostitution into Thailand hundreds of years ago, around the same time they invaded and took over the place making businesses, then making Visa laws to keep other nations out, and now they run the governments and Thai/Chinese controls everything because they are apex predators and money flows uphill to them. Its here to stay just like the Jetski mafia are...

  9. What a pathetic post... You make it seem like the racket money is somehow a NEW thing?
Wake up sunshine, its being going on in ALL clubs in Bangkok, Pattaya, Phuket and anywhere else the BIB stroll..
This has been going on for decades and will continue to go on for Decades...

All you need to do is go for a walk along beach road, and still see all those jetski mafia scams happening every hour, despite the bad publicity, TV shows made,
There is only one law in Thailand - and that is Green...
Im suprised a businessman would be so stupid, unless ofcourse he is a puppet working with the government to take a piece of the pie because they are higher up the chain - NOW that would make sense!

  10. i think taking cars off the road that are spewing out black smoke and are a danger to everyone around them is a great idea!

But this is not really about this is it?

Its just a deflective move to announce that the new car policy was a success because the second hand car price has fallen through the floor, and there are too many new cars on the market they cant get rid of.

a 10 year old Honda has plenty of life left in it - so whatever the 10 year plan is it sounds like garbage. 20 years okay!

  11. The Japanese are generally a lot more worldly, they have been travelling a lot more, usually more educated and from what i have seen - quite polite in comparison to the loud, pushing in front of you in lines and travelling in herds and following a stick with a flag on it Chinese. But hey!

A trip to kanchanaburi a few years back made me change my tune about the Japanese, as a walked over the Death Railway respectful and remorseful at how many humans had lost their lives there, and had to endure a pack of Japanese with cameras, laughing, posing, shouting and blocking my way as they were - Very Proud! of the history that they were a part of making.... Meh!

  12. Its very interesting - i would not put it down to purely a racial or genetical advantage however, probably more of an exposure to much more - and a soaking up of what is a rich and lets face it, 2 very diverse cultures!

Thais - as much as we like to bash them, they can be very sharp, they see things that we dont, have certain traits and attention to details that we don't. There are good qualities, patience, politeness, manipulation (ahem)
Merge them with a Western brain and im sure combined you can have quite a balanced and East + West attitude to life, and yes learning 2 languages which are both fundamentally very different before you are 7 years old can only increase once ability and outlook of the world.

However, with every positive comes a negative! Don't get too excited just yet... The ego may be the downfall for such and such, and you haven't even reached teenage years yet!

  13. I love animal's i really do - and i hate any cruelty towards animal's especially when its for financial gain.

But my moo Baan used to be a peaceful and lovely area, nowdays however it has dogs that bite you and bark at you should you venture out at night and walk from your car,

What's worse however, is that everyone has bought big guard dogs and they must never feed them, they bark all night, they set each other off, its horrible!

I have to say i myself have thought the same, if these dogs cannot be looked after or trained to fit in with society and our well being - as much as i love them, they are better off put down.

If its for a guard - Buy a bloody house alarm and CCTV Camera! dont train dogs to be aggressive - its the 21st century <deleted>!

Furthermore, very few are ever neutered, so what you see today will only be tenfold next year. Keep them on a leash and feed them and stop them barking just because i want to walk to my car!

  14. 2 years together is not long my friend... it does not guarantee you know her very well, and like many have said above, you marry and you will risk losing 50% or more of everything you are working towards, at least if you marry in the Uk you will.
Also all the loop holes they make you jump through, its not easy and well... here you are...

I went through all the same dilemmas as you many years ago, then i watched my father's pension get trashed from him and he has to work an extra 6 years until retirement, then the recession back in the UK.
I am glad i stayed in Bangkok, 100k a month if you are careful still means you can save 1000 pounds a month - i dont see many folk doing that who live in the UK these days, its not mega money no, but how much do you spend in london compared to here? how much can you actually save in London after expenses?

If you set up some compound interest on 1000 pounds a month, its not a bad pension alternative and you have more freedom, more time to spend with your GF, more time to enjoy Thailand while you are still relatively young.
Lets say you retire at 60, you will have saved about 250,000 pounds (not including pay rise and interest rates so ofcourse much more) Add some compound interest rates to that and you will have a lot more, Retire in Thailand and you should be okay.
Also, think about this... When i came to thailand it was 75 baht to the pound...
Now when i buy Pounds with my Baht, I'm laughing! The UK may fall even more and the baht stronger, the money you make in Thailand is not so weak anymore.
Who knows where the pound will end up in 20 years, all i know is Asia is rising and the West falling,.

I met my Thai GF 10 years ago - I still have NOT married her - I make it very clear that until the THAI GOV gives me the same rights as she gets in my country, i refuse to marry any Thai. Also i dont agree with marriage that much, afterall its got nothing to do with LOVE and its just a legal mess. no benefits that i can see - the only time i will ever consider marriage is when Children are involved, then it may have its vices. I dont expect 90% of people reading this to agree with me, but im happy in my choices and have watched so many divorcees lose everything, so hey...

By advise: dont follow societies burdons, you need to get married! you need a pension! you need to do this and do that etc.
Use your brain, most of the above have no benefits to us but benefit others or a system.
Save your money and learn about compound interest and investments, and avoid potential problems with Thai's

  15. Avoid Promises! They were created by the same cretins than invented Marriage!

i would not say its a lesson in Thainess to be honest mate.

I don't make promises i cannot keep in any country, if i know i may not be able to keep a promise i use the words MAYBE! not Definitely or i promise...

Infact i find making promises a rather irresponsible act and one that i will avoid at all costs... they are also used by Thai girls to win arguments and blackmail us...

  16. When i came to Thailand i was in perfect shape, after having a few Thai GF's i am now about 20 kilos over weight - they order and order and order, and i am left eating it all.

Last night for example, i was given 2 plates of food in stead of one. And that was at 12 midnight.

I swear i am being knocked off by kindness, ill die of a heart attack at this rate.

Actually getting back to the OP's Post

I think Thais (all of them) are very excessive in their behaviours... Its not just food is it?

They fly off the handle at the smallest of things, and won't react at all at the more important matters.
They get very excited at food, and have to order everything to feed their over zealous appetites. (like kids in a candy shop)
They spend money (when they have it) like its going out of fashion then complain they have none
And lets not forget, They will WAI and KAA and Krap all day long, but as soon as they are behind a steering wheel is <deleted> to everyone else, pedestrians included.

And my favourite of all... When you check their profile's or Work resumes, they put down "SLEEPING" as one of their hobbies...

i give up bashing them, these days i just laugh at them.

  17. You should count yourself lucky mate
I know a landlord here who has 10 condos, and when people pay late he sends some very convincing people around
As far as he is concerned if you pay late - He has Shark Loaned you the money for one month and 4 days already

    And you owe him interest.

Be thankful he was nice enough to give you almost 5 weeks grace, stop messing him about and go and live somewhere you can afford - or pay the consequences,

Oh and dont even think that the Deposit is for paying late - the deposit is to prevent you from smashing the place up in a strop because you didn't pay on time. Like some idiot above mentioned.

  18. Unbelievable! so knowing they cant pay they just dump it onto the guarantor and walk away as if nothing happened!

    What planet is this again?

Now due to your wife being the guarantor you have another vehicle at your disposal and another outlet for your money. Te action you describe is exactly the Thai way of doing things.

Surely you've been here long enough to realise that?

We have three motorcycles courtesy of my wife's brothers and their inability or willingness topay the monthly installments, luckily we could pick up the tab and our boys got cheap motorcycles and the household got a runabout motorcycle which the wife and I use for those ods and sods shopping bits one needs every now and again as opposed to the car.

Every cloud has a silver lining. laugh.png

Suprise suprise today is the day the next instalment needs to be paid!

Apparently this new scheme says the rebate for 100,000 baht means the car must be kept for a minimum of 5 years, that means it has to stay in the sisters name.

Now i have a sneaky suspician the 160,000 cars that suddenly people cannot afford to pay for, have popped up after they got the 100k rebate, so they paid 12 months got their money back then ditched the car.

We haven't done this as the car still has 3 months before the rebate is due, but i am curious.

If we stop paying now and let them Repossess the car, then would there be any problems for the Guarantor?

I have no desire for another car, we already have 3 which we are trying to sell and its a nightmare given the current second hand car market value is down 30% or more.

  19. Just had the wifes sisters boyfriend appear on my door step - he handed me the keys and left a Honda City parked on the street, and a few documents and a lease card from kasikorn.
I told him what is this for? and he just smiled and walked off...
I just called the missus now and asked <deleted> is goin on and why have we been left with a car
She told me she was the Guarantor for the new car and now they can't afford to pay for it anymore.

Unbelievable! so knowing they cant pay they just dump it onto the guarantor and walk away as if nothing happened!
    What planet is this again?
