Ahhhh I recall Jacko well of course why wouldn't I? he played for the Dees a few years, was fairly good at kicking goals, in those days I use to go every week so I have a better perspective of the guy than you guys who may have seen him once or twice a year, of course he got a lot of bad press but I can assure you most of the time he was a reasonably dedicated player.
At times not to bright recall his stoush with Andrews at Windy Hill ( that paddock out in the west some where, where once a Dee player coming off the interchange bench twisted his ankle when slipping into a pot hole...yes on the ground........hey its not a league ground anymore)
He had a brief career and was as long as his attention span, was rather slow but then we got him while at his peek, we picked him up from Richmond were he had been staring in the under 19's, still in his early 20s when he moved on, I do think the Dees got the best of him, he really would have been a star if he was born 40 ys earlier and played in those dirty woods sides.
I met and briefly spoke to Jacko a couple of years back at a show put on by some Perth bikies at a private club.
He was one of three speakers on the night, the others were Chopper Read and Roger Rogerson, a couple of Australia's infamous characters who gave some great insights into their lives (and the people they killed!).
Jacko spoke well and was quite funny while telling anecdotes from his footy career. Didn't come across as slow, but gave the impression most of his antics were very deliberately staged.
I chatted to Chopper for a while until he told me he was a Collingwood supporter which made me lose interest!
I talked longest, and shared a couple of beers, with Roger Rogerson, He came across as a really nice guy despite his lurid past. He was tired from touring and just wanted to get home to see his grandkids.
Jacko was slow, played like a lumbering 1950's ruckman but had a lot of talent the small defenders run off him very easily even the quick full backs like Langford left him for dead, his strength was in a one on one marking duel, he was very strong and bulky and an excellent mark, except for the better full backs he was a handful, those stats didnt suprise me thats around 4 goals a game.
The game was in a transition when he came along was about to move into the mobile big man, guys like him and the Dempsey's Thompson's era was just about over, he could be used as a relief ruckman but seldom was maybe it was his lack of pace, as i said earlier i saw just about everyone of his games with the Dees i considered him a very good player but his lack of pace hurt us as we had nothing except for Gerad Healy (who kicked 70 odd goals feeding off Jackos spolis) up forward.
As for his antic's im sure many were staged again the league and clubs was moving into a professional stage and more emphasis was on holding high standards of conduct, jacko was from another era, and he would have known he had a limited life span with the lack of pace he had, so that tagg of disciplinary problems comes as no surprise, of course he was smarter then he seemed and looked, the guy featured on a number of TV programs once he retired and by the sound of it is still making a living off his short career.

No ernie wasnt bad at all, 2 champions ships in 6 seasons says a lot, 3 seasons after ernie VICTORY still nowhere without a future inexperienced coach and team of highly paid duds.
i recommend that the Board be shown the door,
-
The BIG question, will Muscat still have a job come next weekend?
Or is the BIG question, how ruthless is VICTORY?
gee ernie wasnt so bad was he?

Jackson lasted only 1/2 a season with the saints and after just 10 games he was sacked because of his discipline. He then went to Geelong where I think he played just as many or close to as many games as he did with Melbourne
Discipline problems? @ the Saints? you jest of course?

Prior to moving to Thailand I downloaded an mp3 ripper and ripped my entire CD collection, did the same with my DVD's all fitted nice and lightly on to a 2T hard drive, once in Thailand I bought a second HD and made a copy for sercurity. ( I carried my HD in my hand luggage while traveling)
I don't think there is much to gain buy bring cooking utensils, and as for clothes, well my western levis were to dam heavy to wear in Thai humidity and had an issue with footwear too, I ended up not wearing much of the 2 suite case I brought with me of clothes and pretty much re wardrobe.
Don't think you will need carpets unless you plan to never turn off your air con, and as for your antique Hi Fi ditch it, buy a new one when you move over or better still move with the times and get a surround sound to match your tv with an added cd/mp3 player, you can copy around 9 hrs of music to a cd disc and play pack on your new cd/mp3 player, or just record a cd from your mp3 collection.
No need for a container now.

Everything starts and ends with GREED a human defect, looking around at political models we the masses shake our heads in disbelief that we are were we are now.
All political systems can work well but for greed.

Ahhhhh chooka I don't think you can call AFL tough anymore, fairly pansy now compared to 20 ys ago its all run run run now days pretty much like Gallic football which is what out game came from think the black fellas and some of there Irish friends started it way back in penal days of old Melbourne town hehehe.
Ho and im allowed to bring soccer into an afl thread because I started this thread when I moved to BKK late 2011, yes that's right...im jinjinswing, after a while I got bored with TV and my social like took off so i stoped posting by the time I got back to it I forgot my password. if you don't belive me I still have a yahoo and Skype id as jinjinswing, hmmmmm I should try there password, but I did change it.

Thanks but im back in aussie now for a few years, hope it stays that way.

Don't like socKer. How about some real football?
Its Soccer.........................and your allowed to dislike it, I happen to love it and its soccer season right now.
If chooker finds soccer hmmm dull what do you think of gridiron?
I happen to love that too, there arnt to many sports in the world where you have just one play, yes one play, 5 or so seconds to make a mark...no running into form there my boy, you make that catch or you run and get those yards full stop no second chances.
Sav Roccer isn't play with the Phillie Eagles I saw a game recently think its the Redskins now...still can boot a ball.
As for soccer some of the less enlightened folk here wouldn't know of course but some of the modern tactic's like chipping the ball around especially on the last line of defence (very common now days) and Jean's hawks ( who started it) passing/handballing backwards to a running player facing goal wards ( also very common these days are all soccer tactics my dear friends.

Jolly's tongue will be the death of him, Buckley's The Age interview all class, Jolly really should grow up, in the end his KARMA has come back to bite him, of course he lives in a delusional world as if a guy he's age can can play at 100% in this modern age.
Idea........he should apply for a position as sports journalist for the Bangkok Post that's a good level for him........

Oh and trying to turn our game international....nope, dreams, waste of time and money, NFL does pretty well its popular all over the world sure has second rate comp in Europe few players there actually make the grade to NFL, I don't see a need to export it, we should do what Premier league and American football do and that is package it as a TV spectacle in the end a TV audience is what will make the game.
AFL is already fairly ensconced in many countries around the world:
http://www.aflcommunityclub.com.au/index.php?id=435oh yeah...when did the last recruit from Tonga make it in the big time? or NZ or China or USA a few Irish made it but more tried and went home....Aussies play American football here, soccer and baseball too, mate get real your clutching at straws, soccer and NFL play to TV so should we.

Not sure that Michael Voss would be the worst thing that could happen.
Harvey would seem to be a better choice based on his link with the club and his experience from that recent article you posted
I agree. I also wouldn't rate or call Vossy a cheese dick. If there's one thing Vossy would have, it's
respect. As has been mentioned, he did his training when he was in the main job which wasn't
the smartest move. I guess we still don't know if he can coach, but I reckon he'd be mad to go
to the St's.
Appointing Harvey would at least buy him some time, being a legend of the club, he would be given
more time than an outsider. Especially an unproven one.
Also AlexRRR, just because Melbourne weren't convicted doesn't mean they didn't do it.
Blind Freddie could see they did and it was orchestrated by that tool Connolly which you guys
continued to employ.
ONLY THE AFL penalizes without conviction, Connolly was sacked long ago, just about every team that finishes around last has helped there position so lets get REAL, we might bag the NFL system of conferences free agency and drafting but mate it works well, this current AFL admin has changed the game so much its barely recognizable from 20 ys ago, the real defensive game has gone were almost a fully blown galic run at all costs game.
Voss wouldn't be a bad fit but to be honest anyone taking the job down there would be nuts its obvious from looking around at the recent goings on at Deeland and Brisbane that the board at Saintland is pretty much in disarray and unlikely to get there act together without a change starting from the top.

Buddhism is not a religion it is a philosophy , right speech right thoughts right actions and the middle ground is there way.
Humans have a way of defining, labelling, I always was amazed how TGF's can do the incense and prayers every time we walk past the shrine at centre world or a temple yet have no real idea of Buddhism and what its meant to be.
I was bought up a catholic and long ago gave it away, Buddhism is the reason I first visited Thailand, to see it first hand in action, sure they seem to practice it but of course in reality its just like anywhere else, appearance is everything and that includes Islamic and Christian nations.
From Thai friends they have a limited knowledge of real Buddhism to study it they need to go to temple and do courses it seems, not sure but think there is little religious instruction given at school.
Religions always do well in underprivileged nations as Thailand emerges from 3rd world will be interesting to see in several generations just how many of your TGF's will take you along to the temple.

heyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy chooooooooooooooooooooka, we were never convicted of tanking thank you very much, don't ask me what the fine was for bit like the Essendon saga, no conviction yet penalized.
Mate its not about how good Watters was or wasn't, its about the dicks that run the Saints, how in hell did they let it get to this late stage, if you look around at other clubs and the Dees being one of them they do the chop well before end of season seems to me the directors and office staff don't involve them selves with coaches and playing staff.....don't know whats going on, one hand doesn't know what t he other is doing, who reports to who down there?
As with the Dees and any other club that is misfiring you start at the top to find the cancer then you cut it out, I think you need more than a new coach mate.
Voss...don't be so hard on him, he did take over when the Lions were going down, aging list etc, and sure was a dumb move to hire with no coaching experience, he has it now but why would you put yourself at a club like the Saints who wont be going anywhere for a few years.
And AND I don't see what the problem is with hiring an ex coach, did you know that Allen Jeans who took the Saints to there only flag was heavily critzied as having a fantastic team yet only managed one flag? Well what did he do at Hawthorn?
Malthouse was pretty good at the Dogs but didn't get a fag until he moved to the Eagles and later magpies, lots of stories like that, Norm smith was most unpopular at Fitzroy in the 40s when he left the Dees to take up the playing coach role there ( think it was playing coach) players didn't like him so he was ousted and guess what? back at the dees for 6 flags in 10 years....8 grand finals...
No no accept the dicks at the top have no idea, I was saying that the last 5 ys at Deeland eventually I was proven right.

And Harvey or anybody else will not make a scrap of difference, GWS will Finnish higher than that lot.
-
The regular season ended about 8 weeks ago, we're had the trade period and yesterday the Saints sacked the coach.
They didn't know how to keep Ross Lyon, they didn't know when to sack there coach, they are a joke, Brereton says there pathetic, Wilson in the Age says there in turmoil, I recon every team in the comp can pencil in a win against the Saints next season.
Doesn't matter what Watters is was etc nobody but nobody does this, shows amertuarish behaviour by a badly run club.
Of course the excuses are running hot now, 2pages in the paper today on the sacking, even the hapless Dees sacked there last 3 coaches before the end of the season.

Yes I've been there, just a posh market, good choice of restaurant options. Being on the river gives it fresh appeal, well laid out and style worthy of checking out.

See chooka wasn't all doom and gloom down there, got to have some faith my boy....faith in the powers that are.
Award to worst drivers in Thailand goes to...

Try Indian or Sri Lankan drivers if you want to get your heart rate up.
A Thai in a car is the ultimate expression of power, the Car is KING, your not even safe on the footpath, ive experienced 2 near hits walking in an outer suburb were i lived and thats not counting dodging the motorcycles and flying hot oil from street vendors when walking single file up a footpath nose to the ground trying to avoid the pot holes.
There is a reason why Thai's walk slowly think about it.
