This is a type of bar that is notorious for trying to cheat their customers and add extra stuff on your bill.

Think about it.

1 Beer
4 Whiskey for normal customer. I say normal because this girl might try to claim lady drinks even though she doesn't work for the bar.

Some type of Isan food that I never even got

Does that equal 2300 baht?

I'm more than willing try pay my bill but when people are padding and trying cheat me I have no problem walking away.

The "normal" girl is saying the bar owner wants to take me to the police. If that's the case I'll go to Tourist Police and accuse them of adding more to the bill than I ordered.

This shit happens all the time. I'll open a tab and they'll just start putting things on regardless if I really ordered it. I've seen my friends get 3000 baht tabs with no clue why it's so high. I bet I'm not the first customer to take issue with this.

I'll tell them they were padding my bill.

The other day I was eating pizza at this restaurant by where I live.  It's strictly a restaurant with alcohol.  Sometimes they show sports.

A family was having a congratulations dinner for one of the members.  I'm on the other side of the room minding my own business and eating my pizza.  This drunk woman from the party starts talking to me.  We exchange numbers and I don't think anymore of it.

Five days pass.  She's joined WhatsApp and LINE to talk to me.  She wants me to meet at a bar in a seedy area.  I think it's weird but I guess it's okay because this woman has a normal job and a car.

I go to this bar.  I "buy" her a couple of drinks.  Plus I give a few to the girls there.  She's friends with the bar owner.  I think we had a couple rounds of whiskey, I had a beer, and the other girls had three or four drinks total.

I get the bill back and it's 1,810.  I figure these people are padding the bill and trying to put a fast one on me.  The girl who invited me is actually saying it's 2,300 because I ordered food across the street even though it hasn't come yet.  I tell them I need to visit the ATM.  They actually have a guy escort me with an umbrella.  I'm walking up the street and the guy is telling me to use the ATM to the right.  I point ahead saying I'll use the one out there.  Finally he heads back without me.

Instead of going to the ATM I hail a cab in the pouring rain.  I lay down in the back and I tell the driver where I want to go.  He says 100 baht when normally it should really be half that.  But I'm skipping out so I don't care.  I just tell him "Go, go, go!"

He takes me home and I pay him.  This "normal girl" that I met is ringing my LINE, WhatsApp, and my phone number.  I just tell her "Hey, you guys are trying to pull a fast one on me.  I don't need people who just treat me like an ATM."  Then I block her.

It feels good.  This has happened so many times in the past and I've just paid.  But this time I didn't. <deleted> them.  Seriously.  I feel quite a rush.

So are ALL Thai women total gold diggers?  Even the ones who dress professionally and have normal jobs? <removed>

I remember back in the glory days where an ED Visa was for one year and you could just get another when after it's finished.

Man, this country is changing for the worse.

The only Thais that care about learning English are the women who realize they can be bigger gold diggers if they find an old white guy to communicate with.

Thais are happy being really stupid.

I've learned this from teaching in the Thai system.

No one from this country is launching a rocket or curing cancer.

this is madness, how many people are going to die because of this nonsense, it's bad enough everywhere you look people sitting with their faces buried in a smartphone - the social evolution of the 21st century has now become an extremely antisocial scurge and disease,  now more people are going to die because of it and I say "more" because many deaths are already caused on the roads in Thailand because of people using their smartphone while driving.

 

What's going to happen when contact lenses become screens for devices - people will be sitting staring in front of them life mindless zombies.........and that technology is not too far away

I don't know where you're from but Thailand is dirt cheap compared to most other places.

If things regress with this military government to where Thailand more resembles Cambodia or Vietnam I would want to leave.  As for right now, personally I could spend the rest of my life here.

I've seen people say on here that if you accept less than 35k you are really selling yourself short.

At another all girls school I was paid 35k. The kids were great, staff rarely bugged me, and it was very nice and comfortable.

At the other school I was expected to take attitude from some woman in the office. The kids were flat out idiots. All this for 32k. It just didn't seem worth it. I don't have a wife and kid so I bailed.

I love Thailand but working with Thai organizations is just retarded.

Walking home in Phrom Phong I was watching a tourist and a driver getting into an argument about the fare for a ride. He wanted 300 baht. She was saying that he didn't communicate with her and she wouldn't give it to him. Then he said 250 and she still wouldn't go for it.

He walked around all frustrating trying to appeal to in the alley. He tried to get some sympathy from me but I just looked away. I think these guys along with the cabbies are scum of the earth.

I didn't get involved but I stuck around because I hate the tuk tuk drivers. The customers were two women.

Why does he try to appeal to people in the alley to give a &lt;deleted&gt;. Like some Thai people want to associate themselves with him. Then he looks at me like I should say something. &lt;deleted&gt; scumbag, I hope these guys get cancer and die.

I'm using Skyscanner trying to get a deal going from Bangkok, TH to Hilo Hawaii. I notice that pretty much all the carriers are saying their tickets are non refundable?

Is this usually the case? So if I miss my flight for some reason I can not use what I paid as credit for another booking?

I want to keep my options open just in case I find a job or something down here. I need some advice because I'm not privy to really booking expensive flights.
