  1. Behind "all this " is the plan to turn the natural world into a collection of assets. Forests, seas, oceans, beaches, grassland, desert etc will be turned into investment products and you won't be running the show. This is something that challenges the traditional rights of land ownership, tribal land, collective land and even national land (since the rights will be mostly owned by global "stakeholders" (corporations)). Just to have a glimpse of how this could go wrong, look at how impossible it is to tax/control companies like Amazon and groups like Black Rock. They , and those like them would be running the show. They could decimate the planet with no legal recourse; it would be for "your own good" and all in the name of profit. https://impactentrepreneur.com/natural-asset-companies-nacs/
  2. In order to try and understand the "bigger picture" I would recommend listening to someone like Whitney Webb who manages to describe the situation very succinctly and accurately (I have linked a podcast below). 15 minute cities are basically part of a push to create a new asset class which would see the natural world classed as assets and hence we will certainly have to pay for them. It is a way to keep populations and countries in a state of debt based on their carbon levels and maybe some other emissions. With the stakeholder capitalists in charge, the goalposts could move at any time and will be surely set to keep many countries and populations in a state of servitude. 3. Ironically most of my British friends are flying to Thailand to get dental treatment (can't find a dentist in UK); it takes slightly longer than 15 minutes. Charlie will be driving his car on the desolate roads instead of taking the helicopter, he will then tell us how environmentally friendly he has become. He will also be purchasing a lot more land in west Norfolk after having put all the other farmers out of business.
  4. Some of the intentions don't seem too bad (possibly) but it is a huge (one size fits all) policy. It's also full of slogans. If we look back in history , where have we seen these all encompassing policies (almost edicts) full of slogans? Well many of them were to be found in communist countries, so they should raise some red flags (pun intended). I began to do more research when I started to hear all these catch phrases, especially "Build Back Better". The 15 min. cities and other names they use are meant to be a corner stone of this policy. If we look back to the communist policies , for example if we look back to the "Four Pest Campaign" including "Smash the Sparrows", none of them ended well, in fact they were mostly complete disasters. If we are to have any success in improving the environment and our living standards it has to be done from the bottom up (and these policies are the complete opposite). Let's face it we can't do a worse job than those in power at the moment. There is nothing wrong with wanting to reduce congestion and improve the environment but you have to be doing it for the right reasons and have the local peoples' best interests at heart. The "one size fits all" policy is a dangerous one to follow. It's like mono-cropping on steroids.
  5. So it's basically to do with income generation rather than improving the environment . If you are going to be charged for crossing into the next zone, you will travel up to the ring road and enter the other zone from there. Therefore turning a half mile journey into one of five miles or more. It doesn't sound terribly environmentally friendly.
  6. "Motorists in Canterbury, Kent, will be penalised from one zone to another" https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-11310519/Traffic-scheme-splits-cathedral-city-FIVE-zones-fines-drivers-moving-them.html "Automatic number plate reading (ANPR) cameras will be in operation at entry and exit points, ensuring drivers are unable to sneak between neighbourhoods without facing a fine." https://www.kentlive.news/news/kent-news/canterbury-could-split-five-parts-8077244
  7. 15 minute neighbourhoods will restrict your movement in that you can only cross into other zones a certain number of times per year. Once you have reached your maximum you will then be penalized and receive fines. This system will of course be policed by a large number of cameras and license plate recognition. In other words a virtual fence; whilst it's not a physical barrier, crossing it without permission will lead to punishment.
  8. If you don't really know about the agenda, please listen to Sandi Adams talking to the Glastonbury Town Council, she really knows her stuff.
  9. Governments really have lost the plot. In the UK they have spent the past decade or so "smashing" local businesses, closing bank branches and post offices, moving many businesses to big industrial parks on the outer edge of towns. Then came Covid and the subsequent inflation which "smashed " the pubs, restaurants and cafes as well as the other remaining businesses. Now with pretty much nothing remaining they say we should remain in the neighbourhood. You couldn't make this stuff up!
  10. 15 minute city implementation seems to have been handed over to C40 and NREP (a large real estate company based in Denmark). They seem to have the backing of the Scandinavian govts with pension funds being invested in the company. There seems to be substantial financial backing, with the Clinton Foundation heavily involved in C40. A number of the "big players" have a vested interest in this project being carried out. It's because of these big budgets you see the local councils going against their constituents wishes. It seems that you are the product.
  11. The whole concept of "15 minute cities" was invented by Carlos Moreno (French -Colombian urban planner). Even just a brief perusal of the information is enough to tell you that this is mostly not about improving the environment. Take a look at the UK - Cambridge plans to axe a whole load of trees just to build a "Green Bus" route. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-11887559/Cambridgeshire-council-plan-chop-orchard-500-mature-trees.html Plymouth has already axed over a hundred trees https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2023/mar/15/a-disgrace-more-than-100-trees-cut-down-in-plymouth-despite-local-opposition This is nothing other than "greenwashing" - there are big budgets involved for "sustainable" walkways, cycle routes and bus route. As always "follow the money".
  12. There might be some helpful tips in this old thread. ( If I were you I would approach a reputable / one of the more established agents.)
  13. Gosh what a shock, such a lovely lady. May she rest in peace. My deepest condolences to her husband.
  14. Covid can exacerbate some other conditions (as can the flu) but that doesn't mean it killed you; it just means you are in poor health. If someone has stage 4 cancer and dies with Covid, do we say they died from Covid? If someone dies from old age and they happen to have Covid, what did they die from?
  15. Revenge is a dish best served cold - so maybe the voodoo dolls are in the fridge on ice. I am sure she is a member of the WI and they cover just about everything in their talks.
  16. One has to hand it to Ms. Fulani, whilst suffering such abuse and being so traumatized she is still managing to do all these interviews and TV appearances. She might even revisit the site of the original trauma. What a trooper!
  17. They received 10,000 GBP https://www.hackneygazette.co.uk/news/23013480.domestic-abuse-charity-receives-10-000-black-lives-matter-uk/
  18. It seems that in the past year or so they had funding from BLM. However in previous years Fulani also had funding from the Prince's Trust. Seems she might go to the highest bidder.
  19. British sarcasm in this context - "I can absolutely see you are from the East end of London." Translated for non- Brits "I never would have guessed you were from the East end of London in a million years" "I absolutely adore your accent". Translated for non- Brits " every sound that exits your mouth sounds like fingernails going down a blackboard" "Your outfit is simply so unique and colourful" Translated " You seem to have had a power outage while you were choosing your clothes and you certainly don't own a mirror."
  20. " Your eyes look very green today" (context - it's St. Patrick's day----> I take offence because I think he's suggesting I'm an Irish nationalist) " You are looking a bit pale today" (context - I think she is using this as a traditional British understatement, therefore I take offence because she probably means I look like death warmed up!) "That colour suits you sooooo.... well " (context - I think she is being sarcastic (another great British trait) , so she really means I look terrible, somewhat resembling a Xmas tree-----> result = I take offence) So if I want to play the victim I guess it pretty much depends on me. Victimhood is starting to look like a profession !
  21. "Why do we take Offence? One of the most common reasons people take offense is insecurity. Insecurities are based on one's self-concept, ideas and feelings about self (Coon & Mitterer, 2009). When the self-concept is challenged, one will question perceptions of self and insecurities ensue." https://www.sagu.edu/thoughthub/the-psychology-of-offense/ So basically we have to pander to people's insecurities.
  22. So it comes down to a problem based on subjective opinions. The problem is that we can take offence to just about anything if we want to. For example if a Thai person calls me a "farang" and they didn't mean it in an offensive way, should I take offence? People have different ideas about what is racist, so whose definition should we use and why?
