The other thing to factor in is quality of insurance, i reckon a small minority of expats have good insurance, others go for the cheap option, ignorance is bliss and all that, poor coverage, history of denying claims, premium increases, questionable financial backing

I'd do Pattaya, justifies a couple of trips a year. I guess be careful with the online 90 day report, ensure address agrees -

Maybe you're delusional, in my example further up one govt hospital kept a guy alive for 6 months while in a coma, with no proof of money from anyone, he reckons they have to take care, of course that won't mean expensive ops

Strange, guy i know went back and got treated straight away, very recently. Remember that YouTuber Kev in Thailand, had cancer, wasted 1m+ trying to get treated in Thailand, eventually went back to UK, died, maybe should have gone back sooner

where was 150k a night? Bangkok Pattaya was 50k a night ICU. I was chatting to a guy the other day who recently spent 6 months in a coma in govt hospital, paid 600k bill when he woke up

You realise having insurance is a gamble? will they pay the claim or find a pre-existing, will premiums become unaffordable when i could have been saving for all those years, both health insurance and self insuring are gambles

I self insure, 1m baht in the bank should be enough to get them treating you, in fact they have to treat you, keep you alive etc i also have personal accident insurance which covers 250k baht, again that gets you treated. You will need access to more money if need be, from abroad ok as long as can move it quickly

I'd say you were partly responsible, you were very slow to brake, should have seen him pull out, you should be looking ahead. Obviously he should have looked and not pulled out but you could have avoided it
