  1. There is no absolute prohibition on withdrawing the money immediately after application, but it is inadvisable to do so until Division headquarters has approved the extension. It is possible for them to do their own checks, and there would be complications if the money was not there if they did.
  2. It is true that skeletons in your Immigration history closet are not ideal. However, you appear to have moved on. As long as your current visa (or extension) are above board, it is not likely that you will have any trouble. I think replacing your passport would be a mistake.
  3. You can apply for an extension of your permission to stay based on marriage up to 30 days before expiry of your current permission to stay (45 days at some offices). Although not recommended, it is allowed to apply right up until the last day of your permission to stay.
  4. Recognise that VFS is not doing the extension, only document checks. You must still visit Immigration to get the extension stamp in your passport. Given that you can make an appointment to do an extension in Bangkok, most will not feel the VFS service is worthwhile. However, if you are concerned about a wasted visit to Immigration because your documentation is insufficient in some way, maybe you might use them.
  5. If you are a citizen of the country where you are applying, just your passport data page (again)
  6. My understanding of his initial post is that (i) his embassy does not do income letters; (ii) he has proof of income from transferring 65,000 baht per month into his Thai bank account; and (iii) he does not have 800,000 baht in his account. Most officials felt this qualified him for the extension, but the boss disagreed. There is one aspect of his story that I do not find credible: that the senior official's subordinates were arguing with his decision. Thai officials do not do that. The rest could be true.
  7. Probably, the consulate will allow this. However, most people would do a border bounce around December 19, and delay the application for a further visa until March. Is there any particular reason why you do not want to do that?
  8. The right way of doing it is just to apply for the new extension based on marriage. The most common problem when not cancelling, especially if this is a formal course, is that Immigration at a land border may not let you leave. When applying for a new extension, the official might request a termination letter from the school, but this is only likely if terminating a permission to stay based on study at a formal school like a university. In that case, they may want to confirm that you have really been studying (a requirement for the previous permission to stay).
  9. It should be accepted. Picky officials might have questions about the source of income, but are usually satisfied after a short discussion.
  10. Almost certainly, this is Phatum Thani. However, it really would be best when posting if people do not use abbreviations that are not universally recognised.
  11. What exactly are you looking for? Do you want a language school that can provide a visa for a Non Thai adult learning Japanese? If so Google "Japanese language course for adults in Bangkok". There are some hits.
  12. Based on prior experience, entering with a visa via Chiang Mai airport should be safe. Inappropriate denial of entry has not been observed there.
  13. That does not appear to be a qualifying account. Under all normal circumstances, your application will proceed exactly as if that account did not exist.
  14. They are all supposed to. However, especially if the applicant's home is a long way from the immigration office, some offices find it too much of a hassle. They seem able to get away with telling you they will not do it.
  15. I am unsure if I am understanding your question correctly. You need the money in a qualifying account: one where you can always withdraw the money on demand with only loss of interest. Money in a bank account that does not qualify is not considered.
  16. You will need to be in Vientiane for at least two nights to get the visa. Also, if you must leave Thailand by September 18, you are going to be longer in Laos because you need an appointment that is not available at short notice. There is no requirement by border immigration to be out of Thailand for any specific length of time. Make sure you meet all of their documented requirements, and you should be fine applying for a tourist visa in Vientiane. The use of tourist visas for long term stay in Thailand is not really feasible any more, but Vientiane and the Friendship Bridge allow a longer stay than other options. Do not be tempted to apply in Savannakhet instead. They have been forced by weight of numbers to become strict in issuing tourist visas.
  17. If entering at Suvarnabhumi, you are likely to be questioned. Denied entry is unlikely but possible. Onward flight requirements depend on your airline. Often, they are happy if you have a flight booked with them, even if not within 30 days, but they are less likely to accept a flight more than 30 days out on another airline. They may allow you to sign an indemnity form in lieu of an onward flight. Be ready to make a quick flight reservation at the airport if they will not check you in without.
  18. It might be possible to arrange medical extensions if entering with a tourist visa. If entering with a visa on arrival, extensions are only provided under the most exceptional circumstances (basically in the hospital, completely unable to travel).
  19. Some major land crossings and seaports also have visa on arrival desks. I do not know how amenable they generally are to those doing same day visa runs. A full list of the checkpoints with visa on arrival facilities is available at https://sydney.thaiembassy.org/en/publicservice/visa-on-arrival. (This is from an embassy website, so be aware that any information is unreliable and should be checked.)
  20. I am not optimistic about your chances. Years ago, UK citizens were able to get Thai tourist visas in Istanbul, but I am not sure the honorary consulate there processes visas at all now (I suspect you may need to apply in Ankara) and I think there is an assumption that UK citizens will use the e-visa system, meaning they will probably not help you even if they are still allowed to issue visas. I suggest you email them to ask. I think the email address is still [email protected]
  21. That is true. The most you can do is dispute the charge with your credit card provider on the basis that the services for which you were charged were not provided.
  22. It has often been claimed (and I have tended to accept this) that consulates and immigration try to prevent you having two concurrently active visas. Perhaps, policies on this have recently changed.
  23. No extension of a visa on arrival is allowed. If you apply for an extension, you are instead given seven days to leave the country (and really must comply).
