  1. Well understanding a bit of Thai logic myself, the schools will just tell the parents:

"Sorry we cannot employ Farangs no more to teach English" and mai pen rai

if all schools do this at the same time there will be no fuss from the parents

    --------------------

There is a Thai English teacher across the soi from my baan upcountry, his sole job is

to teach English, nothing else, well i try talking to this guy and he understands NOTHING!!

The closest thing he has got going for him is he will see me at night and wave and yell GOOD MORLNING!

His daughter graduated in College (6 years so far) at a major university is proud that she

speaks english and brags about it to other thais, I tried to talk to her and she knew

    NOTHING, maybe 5 words

You fool, she speak english fluently, as her father, but you are simply a farang and by so you do not understand :o (I am joking, but I got the same in 7/11 2 years ago, I asked for a brand of ciggy, the girl gived me the M.... and as I was trying to refuse it but get the brand I was looking for, she explained to others that obviously I was not spoken english ).

What about Chayaphum, were the head of the english department was Head ofenglish department (7 teachers from thailand) because he used to spend 3 month of vacation in New brunswick 30 years ago (no other credentials in the related field!).

Anyway, in Chayaphum, the notation is english are similar to those given in Thai classical Saber Dance (no kidding). And that is trully sad, because for other subjects such as robotic) the kids are smart ... but they will never speak english before to go to university...

  2. SCB is good, because you will get a DC, not a simple ATM.

I had a bad experience first with Kasikorn (I was/still be a clinet of the French farmers bank, and they first advice me to open an account with Kasikorn while I wasstill in france), you will get an simple ATM card. Kinda limitate.

So really hit for SCB, as a poor farang you will not get a CC,, but a DC will do it just fine (the electronic one, usable in the supermarkets, restaurants .... It limite the amount of cash you have to carry, and by the mistakes/deceptions).

  3. For me, there are 2 things that are in the top in Thailand :

    Post office and Bank.

I was the lucky winner of some K$ in 2002 in an internet lottery (a site from Lycos). I was paid by a check send by snake mail here. I got it in 2 weeks. So thai Post are okie.

Same apply with bank, at least for a small customer as I am. I opened early 2002 an account in SCB Tong Lohr, people are efficient, speak english, or when they do not they are clevert enought to find a way to uderstand me. I had a problem once with my CC charged twice by a coffe shop in MBK (when you come by the BTS , the first brand of coffe chop that is on the right hand, I forget the brand, but not the location). The bank was kind enought to act quickly and efficently.

On the other hand, the SCB where I do my daily operations (locatd in Huay Kwang) is not at the same level (that is why I never moved my account here). So all depend the branch you will select, mostly all depend on the manager.

  4. They're even friendlier in Paris!

LOL, I think you certainly did not visit carefully (thourghtly?) Paris ... I am pretty sure a move in XVIIIth, or on the other side of the social ladder , XVI th will fullfill your dream of rude, impolite , aggressive, or simply fully arrogant people :o

I have live in several countries (mostly africa and europe), and that behavior is alas a human behavior. Mostly people who are ugly will hate those who look good, people too lazy to learn a second language(or too stupid) will hate those fluent in several, or those trying to communicate (the famous joke of the taxyman who go to Dong Muand because you asked Sukkhumvit Soi Ha rather than Shukkumvit Soi Haa ...).

The difference is in Paris the XVIII th is not a touristic spot nor the XVI th. In all the country I lived, places where tourist used to go where proud to be friendly. But back in 2002, maybe some of us remenber what was on the TV at thais time : An farang driving a car was lost in the middle of nowhere in Thailand. He check the cart/map, and suddenly see a little boy on the road side. He open the window, and ask him the direction (in a volapuck supposedly similar to the thai spoken by farang). Then the kid to answer him in a perfect queen english ... It ended with the word (in thai) everybody speak english in Thailand.

The point is more you try to communicate, more you look that this poor guy lost on the road. The best is when a waitress explain to anyone else (in thai) she can not understand you because obviously you are not spoken english ....

  5. It seem you know more about me than I do

    refer to ladies as Fat

and precede to tell me of my thai skills are poor (not bad for someone I have never met)

At this stage I feel more sorry for you than my lady friend

At least I still have the manners that I brought up with, and I have never heard her say a bad word against any one

Please do not be mistaken by my user name. In fact I am English not Australian or Amrican

Sorry if this fact was not included in your description of me

I wish you the best, and hope you enjoy your day, as you seem to enjoy being right

Out of that part, I used myself to abuse or to be abuse, so here I do not care, allow me to advice you on that problem.

Igot the same some years ago, and it's how I did.

I went ALONE to the credit society (amrican express), with the money to pay the bills. The discussion was simple : I showed the cash, then did 2 parts of it (50% 50 %) and said in my broken english : one now ... one next month. After 2 hours of very bad english conversation I paid the half of the bills, andget a document as the rest have to be paidthe month after, untill that no more phone calls.

Alone, because I introduced me as a friend , stating my gf was in france for the next 6 month and she have ask me to handle that problem ... Bottom line was they accepted half now and half in a given date was trully better than nothign from someone abroad for a long time.

And it was not my money (well the second half was mine, but it was no used). So yes genuine people can run on those peoblem and yes it's possible to help without to be guarantor ...

About complaining thai, it is bad word to say Thai people are generaly not prepare to handle those situation?????????? Saying is not say bad about thai people, but simply state a fact , but it's trully complain against an 'educational/cultural' system that let people without capacity to simply understand ....

  6. Well the Khunyin is great advisor :

Should the price expressed in $ of the shrimp kilo from China and thailand stay equal, the export of shrimp will be not hurt. I am impress indeed by so much wise and science.

One problem stay still, does SEA is the only place in the world who export (or try to export) rice? For how much in the Thai economy account tourism and support money send by the in-law from US and UK? 10 years ago it was feast in La Camargue when rice producers signed their first export contract, maybe soon it will be a new one!

  7. I just gived 2000 to a crook policeman to have right to drive back home while being drunk and receiving a BJ from a girl obviously underaged.

Am I reading this correctly? :o

Here you can read it correctly :

I consider it's good advice to tell toclean the beaches rather than saying : sabai sabai here, I just gived 2000 to a crook policeman to have right to drive back home while being drunk and receiving a BJ from a girl obviously underaged.

I do advice you to do this (cleaning beach) rather than doing that (give money, and have sex with an underaged).

I do believe it's grammatically correct, as long you take the WHOLE sentence.

If yo utake only an extract, you will not only miss the point but be called Fool or Moron ... Got it mate :D

  8. If that small drop in the exchange rate hurts so much you're probably here on short money to start with.

IMO - if I had to work here or was on short money I'd probably have an extreme dislike for the place. But with plenty of spending money each month Thailand has no major negatives for me. Can't imagine living back in the US after being here 1 year.

Well, I am so, but really very much so, glad to learn you are the heir of the Rockfeller bounty (treasure?).

Sorry not my case, I am a migrant worker (to make things simple), doing outsourcing work for US based companies. So any drop (or any gain) have a direct effect on my earnings. So yes, as any repsonsible CEO (lol, because it's a micro company) I have huge concern on the financial safety of my company.

Ido not have extreme dislike for Thailand, if oyu read what I wrote I did not say something negative about Thailand, I simply give exemple on how things are somewhere else, in a small country like thailand, with a language that is not anglo saxons (well, I could argue the queen english is only a poor form of old french but it would be OP), and who passed throught several historycal cathastrope comparable to Ayuthaya destruction.

What give me the most extrem dislike is foreigner like you who consider this country as best as a huge disneyland, as worst as a huge brothel. My opinions are what they are, but IF really thailand want to be a hight spots for middle class familly I consider it's good advice to tell toclean the beaches rather than saying : sabai sabai here, I just gived 2000 to a crook policeman to have right to drive back home while being drunk and receiving a BJ from a girl obviously underaged.

When I was teasing about culture, I was thinking about one of characteristic of the thai culture : puppets. Thai puppets are traditional, but why the museum is located so remotly without any indications on any flyers you can get from TiT? Why shoud you have to hang out near Joe Louis Bar in Lumpini (by so have to enter in the Sam luan) to find it? Why not big direction bilboard to promote what is a true part of thai culture (and that is well know in the world), rather than promote Soi cowboy, pattaya by night ... Another exemple : I do suppose you have hear about Moulin Rouge. It's also culture, not the same but still culture. Freeman here was given in the past a pretty good show near midnight. It's was a show, not some kathoey showing flesh. but artisticcreation, not vulgar, very funny and the person leadign the show was trully smart, fluent in english, every time I have laught out of loud. Same apply, that kind ofspectacle correctly advertised would attact people looking for some excitement without vulgarity, without risk.

But the real pain is people who are pretendign to be rich, because they can spend 100 000 bht per month here (a fortune for many thai), but btw us, what kkind of like will you have with 2 500$ in LA, NYC, or Chicago? Middle class, with a BBW, lot of debts .... You are here because you love to pretend to your self (not to other I do agree) about your wealth. IF you were really wealthy you would not come here.

Anyway, I trully believe (and as the Pr Sauvy did before me) the only to help a country that you like is not to say : All will be good because I give money. In fact that attitude KILL the country. But you will help by searching and finiding what is not working to the best (road? transportation? traffic? und so weiter), and by offering solutions that are acceptable by the local economy because those solutions will not dry the economy (Ever hear about autosufficient economy?

To Mig 16, I will give an exemple about my country : my village was electrified in 1984! In france, until 1984, it was places where people had to rely on candle, petrol lamp, generator, small dam too (as in my village) to have electricity.Nothing is perfect, sometimes solution have to be adapted to the problems, the fact is there is the need to clearly define the problems (that we know how to do in france) and then search what solution have to used (I simply adopted this method in my first post, by showing how thailand could be, by opposing on how some people pretend Thaialnd is). My ex gf, thai, Hi So, educated, was proud to be thai, more than I am proud to be french. Saddly even before to met me she have always say the very same.

  9. The value of a money is more based on macro economic statistics than micro. It's also more based on the accounts of the considered nation than on those of the citizens.

In layman language it could give the following :

    1) Thailand have made the biggest deal ever seen with the session of Shin empire to Temasek. Keep in mind in that case the nationality of the 2 groups is not involved, but only the amount. The value before the deal and the value agrreed for the deal is also a key point. People acting on the currency market read thailand as a place where foreign currency will continue to flow in HUGE quantity and by so make the baht sronger, the result is they buy baht to be on the winning side and sell it later with a benefit.

    2) Another signal for those who trade on currency market is the new governement is not loooking to implement policy to restraint foreign capital to come in thailand (As long as the amount is consequent), but is looking to simply change the how this capital was used. They are simply suposing the future new rules will allow a broadest capacity to invest on interesting sectors (currently not avalaible to invest) and they are supposing it will generate a quick divident.

    3) that is the downfall, or a potential downfall, does that move to a hight value is reflecting the reality (stock market under evaluate, new policy morefriendly for big investment, new laws more lax with regardson the capacity to move eventual benefit ....) or does this move is hapening for speculative reasons? Here , that is my humble opinion, we are witnessing a monster (as stagflation was another monster for the countries in EU during the 80') because even if the bath value is hightly speculative, there is actually no concrete reasons to make it going on the other way. If Temasek/Shin deal is not cancelled, if a settlement in the ITV/governement is found, if there is not a MASSIVE exodus of foreigners (massive is a key point) with their assets to another country in the neighborought (if they move but simply go back home it will be irrelevant), the baht will stay an attractive money for the speculators/investors, because it allow to diversify your basket with actually a very fair risk. The very risk being the bath going so hight than it could slow down the economy , making goodsfrom thailand too expensive for the usual countries who buy them, and also making Thailand too much dependant on cheapest importation (by going throught the cycle of: no news fabrics, then fabrics moved abroad with only Main office in Thailand, then higher rate of jobless people and lost in the global buying power of the average thais).

Just thought, or just how I would have explain it while in university. So can be completly wrong, partially wrong, or quite accurate.

  10. what is 1 million baht in todays world

i mean people pay 2 million baht just to reserve a table of 4 at an exclusive club in st tropez for the night.

even in bkk today many people are paying 10k or 20k baht for a dinner or an evening out

staying at the many 5 star hotels and spas will set you back 8-10k a night just for the room.

lets not forget the new slogan of our new government

    quality not quantity

this means mostly those tourists with alot of cash

    Dear brazil,

stop to use cristal or crack, it make hole in the brain

There is no restaurant in St topez who offer table of 4 for 2 millions of bath (or about 50 000 euros).LOL Beleive me I come from here :o

The highest price for restauration in that region can be find in Cannes, during the Festical event or when his majesty the King of Arabia cone to spend some days, and even there , the price is not 50 000 euros for 4 (we wish it could be as the royal familly use to come in huge number, , btw 60 and 100 persons). I believe it must be somehow about 2K euros for 4 in the very rare case you decide to rent a part of the beach (it was the price at the Carlton in 2001).

For St Trop, let say a 'petit noir' is at 10 euros (Senequier, the MOST expensive restaurant in St Trop), as personnaly I do not like the place I can not give exact price, but I do believe price are in order, with the dinner at 1 000 euros MAX for one person (mabe 950, maybe 1200 ... sorry to not be up to date).Anyway I can still ask directly if you doubt.

So please, be a nice boy, and not speak about things that you obviously (at least for me who come from french riviera) are pure and simple non sense.

On the other hand I heard about an ex Miss world who illegaly worked durig one year in thailand, but that is OT and happilly for her she was not throw in jail but regularised recently.

  11. Man. i adore you effort to make a statement, the article is %$#%, but your try is impressive.

    get a grip

Unsure I would appreciate that comment if I was him.

I think Guesthouse hit some very sensible spots. With both my ex gf (rich, Hi So, coming form a rich familly) and the new one (daughter of a sargeant, and ex bar girl), I had the same kind of issues wth collaterals loan.

that is in fact mostly related to feelings : feelings to feel good person by 'helping the cousin at the 3rd degree of the aunt of the sister in law of the father', feelings to feel important (able to shop a car as I do shop bread in tesco), feelings to be hop (shopping the last cellphone in MBK every month). All in one it end with the calimero 'feeling : no one love me (pay the dbt for me).

  12. Well, I do not like stickman much, but he try since a long time to give the opinion of a certain category of long stayer.

This new one ... well I just read 2 articles, and they are sensless:

the one on the visa regulation, where he advice to OVERSTAY. For that and only for that I call it DANGEROUS.

The one on the virgin girls you can get in some beer bars in Pattaya.

Sorry, but noone of those articles where relevant, interresting , nor noone gived an accurate view of the situation of thais people or on the situation of western expats (or do we are all customers of fresh virgins gilrs in pattaya bars, and future over stayers?)

  13. After 5 years of work in Bkk, I can only agree with Pedro. Appart, well, in general people are nice, but yes, try to speak with a secretary in the BTS at 7 pm when come back home after work, she will react like a secreatary in USA or europe at the same moment ... Well as she is thai she will smile, but fact she will also think ...

The dream about the work online and earn money as proposed by girlx is a great , very great ... dream.

In work online yopu have the word work. To generate revenue by internet it need as for any work lot of energy, self dedication , entrpeneurial sense and the most of all, you have to be able to put yourself at your office (read in front of the puter) during the same amount of time as if you were in an office. Also, the rules on internet is : the only people who earn regualry money are the technies (mean people who run servers and host your site) or people like I who are developper maintener or installer. People like you need people like us and by so you have to pay us. But do not be so sure clients are waiting for you ... If yo uhave an idea, be assured at least 1 000 person got it BEFORE you. And if by miracle you can find a new niche , be also assured 10 000 others will run to fill that niche.

thailand is one of the best (maybe the best) places where people from west can go. But for the work, it have to be consdered as any other places (work is work, business is business) with the additional disadvantage (comparable in that to the French Riviera or Los Angeles or Gold Coast or any other hot spot) to attract more qualified people that is needed.

On the other hand, it's almost 5 years I went here with almost nothing, I found a job 2 days after I landed, I quitted, decided to work as freelance and I am still still here. you just have to be strong, bold, to not fall in your own weakness (thailand is great to show us our weaknesses), and you can be okie.

And your line of business is?

Line of business? Does it mean what is my work?

I told it in my post, I freelance coder, working exclusively with abroad companies. The local market is full of genius of CSS, wizard of HTML, evendually gods of photoshop, so I prefer export my very limitate skills in php, perl, javasript, java or eventually C/C++/C#, at least I do not get client claiming I am moron because I am not fluent in us/english or australian/english, but who pay for coding.

I precise I was first working for RS as sound ingenior in 2002, and then decided to return to programmation.

    Does it make sense?

Precesion, freelance in my case mean lot of hours, the need to be highly competitive in both price and quality (say excellence is the minimum acceptable, but mostly perfection is needed by the clients before they pay), lot of stress (easily visible in my posts), let say also you have to be ready to get huge slap, because people will not necessary accept your 'I am sorry' in case of problems. So it's not easy, and smilling faces is something that I do not know in that business (well I smile when I get my bucks, but the rest of the time ...)

  14. I am giving a lot of thought to the Philippines. Since I am married to a Filippina, visa stays are minimal problem and I am entitled to work simply by registering with the Department of Labor.

Phillipines has great beaches, but is a more frustrating and more dangerous place to live.

I've lived in the Philippines for 5 years, and now 1 year in Thailand. I live with my Filipino girlfriend.

What can be more frustrating than a solid language and religious barrier. Thais have zero concept of anything that is not Thai. I've never been more frustrated in my life than trying to communicate with these people that just don't like us and have no interest in anything but the money. hours.

There's only a religious barrier to those who don't have a basic understanding of Buddhism and only a language barrier to those who aren't willing to learn Thai. It's a bit rich living in a country that, by and large, is Roman Catholic and speaks Tagalog complaining about a Buddhist country that speaks Thai.

You're a moderator, so I thought at least you could read.

I stated that I now live, and have lived in Thailand for 1 year.

Excuse me if I don't share your love of Thailand, the language and the religion. We all come to Thailand for different reasons. Maybe you might like to live here permanently so of course you need to learn the language (and religion)...I don't, as I'm only a tourist.

I have no interest in learning the language and I'm not interested in Buddhism. I came to Thailand to live in Pattaya, which I'm sure you'll agree is not representative of Thailand (or even close). My attitude (which I'm sure you won't like) is to attempt to communicate in English (with the added sign language), and if I can't, I move on and spend my money elsewhere. I'm in a tourist resort that services millions of tourists and if they can't speak English...it's their problem. It's sometimes an advantage when street hustlers (sellers) can't communicate well...it's easy to ignore them.

I expected to be here for a year or so and then continue my exploration of the world....I'm here on this forum to learn about new visa regulations.

I'd like to clear up a misconception you have. Most Filipinos speak English, Filipino (the national language is not Tagalog, but based on it) and their provincial language if they are not from a Tagalog speaking region...therefore the majority of Filipinos speak 3 languages. Did you know that parliament is held in English?

Allegro man non Troppo !!!! lol

But I globally agree with you.

    @Endure, here some questions :

Is it necessary to belongs to one religion or another to feel confortable in a country?Well, the answer is personnal I guess, and certainly there is reasons why Khomeny choose Neufles le Chateay rather than the Vatican city as exile place, but personaly I feel confortable to go and pray in budhist temples (thought I am roman catholic) as they are basically holly place.

Learning thai .... well done mat. Thailand, and people like you, are claiming since years (maybe decade) to be a hot spot for tourism. Let's compare with french riviera (another hot spot for HiSo tourism). I do have hard time to imagine any member of the Saoudi royal familly having to learn Franch, or nicois as they usually spend more time in Nice than in Cannes).I will let Endure guess in wich language they address the local shop keepers. Maybe that is the reason why they still come in frogland, and not in LOS.

I do speak thai (not fluently alas), but I do live here. Why a tourist should take a course before to come here? It's hassle.

  15. The spanish embassy in Bangkok have some really weird and all I can say is jealous people in that office. Basically I don't think they want any one going to their country.

They will give you hel_l about your marriage and delay the visa. HOWEVER, you can always apply for the family permit. Basically they can not deny the right to have your family at your side. It is not a visa, but will allow your spouse to be with you in Spain, and I think it costs nothing.

It is in one of the posts that you can only read and not add a reply to.

Or you can try and get an entry visa from the UK

Jealous of what? Jealous of you? Jealous you have a beautiful wife? Jealous you will work in some remote places located in La Mancha, or in the astusrias?

Can you offer us some substances (substantiate????) your saying about jaleousy?

  16. I am moving to spain for work, being British there is no problem to do so. As far as I can see my Thai wife has every right to come with me. We seem to have hit a snag though. Because we were married in Thailand, the Spanish embassy say they require the marriage to be legalised in my country. We tried that in Engalnd, but according to the Births, Marriages and Deaths registrar it doesn't rquire legalising and therefore they don't do it.

Has anyone else experienced this problem? We are following the directives on the Spanish embassy site and have had the official translation of the certificate legalised by the Thai ministry and we are going to pick up a letter at the British embassy certifying that they acknowledge this. But the embassy here do not show that the wedding is legal in England either.

A Thai man at the Spanish embassy pointed out to my wife that this was going to be a problem for us and it might be better to apply for a 90 day shengen visa and then apply for residency in Spain. Not sure about that though, because in England when we tried that she was told to go back to Thailand and apply for the 2 year spouse visa, she could not apply whilst on a tourist visa( she did that and was given the spouse visa no problem). Anyway any thoughts from anyone?

As I just stated, laws in continental europe differ with laws in UK.

Yes, you wife must have a 3 month visa, then apply for residence WHEN in Spain (usually a trip to the Guardia civil will do it very well).

  17. still legal in LOS, heck Canada is 14. (this is a joke people)

Still they are better than Tata, but I will take my fiancee over all 3.

I get crap all the time though, cause my western friends think she is 16-18, yet is she 28... 3.5 years older than me. You can never trust age in LOS.

Here it's not how old she look, but how old she is.

The girl on the right is btw 16 and 17 y old (do notremenber the birth date exactly). Quite young, but also quite an artist since 2002. Same age as Ploy, or PodLuang (same music school, same singing teacher).

If as I suppose it's May, it would be better to show pics of the mother :o

  18. I can be wrong, but from my experience :

Legally marrie in 1997 with a non EU lady, my wife got only a tourist visa to go back with me. The visa whatever is usual for ENTER, and then somehow became irrelevant as then it's all about the PERMISSION to STAY.

In my case, under french law (maybe or maybe irrelevant in the case of Spain as I believe laws in both country arevery similar), my wife andI had to report we wished life together as couple (obvious but this general declaration allow the authorities to handle whithout much problem the case of husband with several wifes (mostly muslims)). At that point the choice given to my wife was or apply for a 10 years visa allowing her to stay and work on her own, or to renew the 3 month visa untill her application to became french was accepted. We choose the second option because she was de fact entitled to claim and have after some legal work the french citizenship (her father was a french civil servant, as her mother was, she was married and living in france). It took almost 2 years, but it was a very smooth and simple process (we went 3 times to the secretary of the tribunal).

On the other hand, a civil union even is considered as the most important proof of a real and natural need for 2 people to be together (homo or hetero couple) do not grant automatically a long stay visa. Mostly people applying with a civil union will get ( as my legal wife) a 3 month they will have to renew while being IN the country (in case of france the renewal is quasi automatic, but still the Police will ask your neiborought about your whereabout, your wife acting and so on ... And the renewal can be refused if the neiborought give negative feedback (such as the wife is receiving a lot of men ...).

In the EU, the main bottleneck is ENTER, when you are inside, things are far easy than in Thailand, mostly the hasle is to go to the police station or the cityhall to fill some papers, or if you do not handle well the language, a visit to a social worker will just do it. A visit to a social worker is that kind of case is always a necessity.

If noone of the proposed solutions fit the OP, then I invite him to contact his european deputy and ask him for help, maybe the fact to enter in spain with his common wife can be obtained directly by EU, and not by Spain.

But a 3 month should be okie, even in case of work. In Spain ,as in any continental countries of the EU, as long as you are LEGALLY enter , you are entitled to search a job and it's your boss duty (not yours) to do the paper work. In layman language, it mean the poster wife will be able to search, find a work and the nwork, as long as the boss report her as alien worker.

  19. There is another solution :

Write to Bruxelles, your european deputy, and explain him you are considering the actual sotuation of you and your partner as a deny of the european rights.

Then you will get the true answer.

I also advice you the European Union is able to deliver passports (rare), so if you can proove the actual situation (refusal of visa on specious ground) you could bypass the national authority (Spain in that case) and directly get the Schengen Visa by the EU.

Technically it's possible. Pratically, well ... Cervantes described so well the fight of a man against windmill long time ago in La Mancha province.

Why I do not understand is :

Assuming your union is acceptable in UK, why not go to UK with a schengen visa for your partner, and then move to Spain with that visa? IS that possible?

And also, what is the big deal with the 3 month tourist visa? My wife was under a 3 month visa during 2 years (untill she got the french nationality), the only hasle being to go to the police station to have a renewal (made in less than 30 mn). So what the conditions to renew a tourist visa in Spain. Certainly comparable I suppose assuming the immigration policy of EU is directed against the NEW MIGRANTS, not those already here.

Anyway there is also those ways to try

  20. I don't know how it works in Thailand. But there are some jurisdictions, including religious ones, where an official officer can use his power even if he is corrupt, and the deed is effective. In other words, if the headman or govt. official had the power to make them citizens, they are.

    Martin Luther King : 'I had a dream .....'

Without any bad ideas behind my words, I think the nationality problem is/was/will be a very hot subject in Thailand. The hill tribe one proof, the way young isaans define themself (I am thai isaan) is another, the southern people of muslim religion is another one (wonder why they are define as thai malay?).

Rather than saying advantages come with the thai nationality (they are but comparable to those coming with an UK nationality while leaving in UK), I think it have to be considered on what is refused when a person does NOT have this nationality while living in Thailand, and by so it can help to understand the true reasons behind this action (the investigation of those alleged corrupt civils servants). Also, who were the people who paid 5 000 bht to became thais national? Hi So westerners trying to hide in thailand (Karr for exemple) or is it people who usually and traditionaly live in the north of the country, inside the forest and since several generation? Just asking, not affirming anything.

another question, is it possible all of that is made only with the purpose to show one political party (and by so a part of the administration) was simply selling not only the economy of the country but also was already itself sold to the foreigner with local nominees following forieigners orders against some little money?

On the other hand, if really people did that (get money against a citisenship) they receive the harshest pusnishment. They simply sold what made a country, they simply sold what all of us cherish the most (whatever the country we come from) they sold the honor the claim proudly : I am (US, Britt, French,Spaniard, Korean, Chinese ...........).

  21. Duly atteated ..........

The 'dully attested' thing differ from on country to another.

Once in France, one of my long term customer asked me to sign as witness a power of attorney (or something like that), the kind of semi private document stating something and supposed to be verified by 2 witnesses (I suppose anglo saxons readers get it, and maybe give us the right name).

In France, we do have those kind of semi private documents, called 'sous seing prive', who have legal value only when there is no other legal document and they are NEVER EVER considered as proofs of something, but as the start of a proof (commencement de preuve in french).

By so, there is no legal obligation for a french consulate to issue an familly visa for my gf IF one member of the staff have legitimate suspicions on the reality and the durability of the socalled 'free union' btw I and my gf. It sucks, I do agree, but that is.

Go legal, do a civil union that give de facto the same rights (and duties, maybe it is what is bothering you) as a marriage. Or apply for UK, then using Shengen move with your gf in Spain. But untill Spain and the rest of the estern continental europe adopt the anglo saxons laws, I do not think you can win that battle.
