I know this is a very old thread but if there's anyone still reading, can you tell me if there are any taxes on household goods being exported from Thailand (in this case, to the UK)?
Many thanks

Moan, moan, moan!
Please let's not lose sight of the fact that we're able to complain about this while watching the palm trees grow under a tropical sky.
It is relevant that we're not posting as harrassed commuters on the M25.
If you really want to have something to complain about, consider living in your home country. Otherwise, please enjoy Thailand and its ways.

Yup, I'll be checking that in some detail before I go ahead.

I think the canceling-after-a-month thing is the way to go for me.
I certainly don't want to pay for a year so that my friends have peace of mind for one month!
Thank you very much.

OK.....
Sounds like I'll have to talk to a broker to make sure, thanks.
-
Right, I'll bear that in mind, thanks.

Mmmm....OK, thank you very much.
That makes things a bit easier. I'll just get my car tax up to date (which will include the basic government insurance) and then get a month's comprehensive cover to take care of the time my friends will be using the car.

I'm having some friends to house-sit for us and use our car for a month.
Can I get comprehensive insurance for them?
Do they need an International Driving Permit?

So much more relaxing than throwing yourself off the roof of a condo!

+1
Same here.

Would any historians care to speculate as to where this might have come from?
Yes, obviously a submarine!
But in what conflict, if any?

I was at Phuket immigration last week and the officer said that I could apply now, for a renewal on 30th November.
Clearly it varies sometimes, according to who you're dealing with.

I saw various shapes of magnet on sale in Bangkok Tools (Yaowarat Road) only last week.
They weren't cheap but maybe worth a look.

Ah, for a table of 12 you bring your own atmosphere with you!
I'm glad you've found somewhere nice!

They do have an email address, and you can go and see their work.
I think it was a helpful suggestion.

I'm sure you can get a hearty, traditional Christmas meal at many pubs in Phuket.
Christmas meals might not be worth paying a lot for. It's not like there'll be foie gras with your turkey.
We're going to Edinburgh for Christmas and there were some Christmas dinners for 200 GBP per person, but in the end, it was only a traditional Christmas meal, with a little extra pizazz. We ended up going for a friendly gastropub which will probably have a better atmosphere as well.
Just my 2¢.

Thank you all for the speedy replies.
Who says the Phuket forum is quietening down!!
The roofspace is accessible along the eves so he can get in anywhere. I can't close it off because the eves are directly over the pool. I'd either have to levitate or put a ladder in the pool. Anyway, now he doesn't seem to come down from the roofspace. We haven't spotted him in the garden since April.
Impressive cage! Did you build it yourself?
I'll try the phone numbers and post again with my results.

Following on from my thread in April this year, I now need to get rid of our resident monitor lizard as he's probably going to crash through the plasterboard ceiling of my workshop sooner or later.
Also, I think he may have damaged some wiring as two of my ceiling lights have stopped working.
The electrician won't want to meet the lizard and I think the time has come for him to go.
Who does this sort of dangerous animal removal?
I think I read about a free service for snake removal. Do they do lizards as well?
Many thanks for any advice.

I've not experienced a headache but I had a Dr Pepper after two weeks of keto and I couldn't believe how sweet it was. I couldn't finish it!

Your regime was quite low in carbs, and it's a sensible low-calorie eating plan which will lose 10lbs quickly, as it obviously did. You're clearly not the type of person who really needs a 'diet' because you understand portion control and calories.
If someone had a lot more weight to lose it would be worth being more strict on the carbs and going into the keto zone, where fat is metabolised in preference to carbs and more weight would normally be lost.
Fruit and veg aren't banned in keto but it's important to know which ones contain a lot of carbs.
-
I agree with everything you said, except I think it will take only three months (90 days) before Turgid (post 57) knows if keto is for him or not.
If he sticks to it religiously for 90 days there will be significant weight loss and his body will have accommodated to the diet change, so I'm sure he'd know.

We have this one from Zodiac.
The initial cost is frightening but it has saved me hours and hours of pool care.We have a salt water pool and no maintenance visits from anyone. The robot takes care of cleaning and the salt water chlorinator is pretty much trouble-free, as you know.
Over the last three years I've had it, I'm very glad I bought the cleaning robot.
