  1. After waiting ages, we were finally allowed to check in. Never figured out why they took issue with our son.

Anyway, he arrived in Sydney on his Thai passport and departed on his Aussie one. No one at immigration said anything.

I've read that Australians are supposed to enter and leave Australia using their Australian passports. However, I've also read that Australian citizens are automatically refused visas for Australia, so there may be some misinformation floating about.

Australia will refuse to issue visas to Australian citizens travelling on a foreign passport as doing so will place conditions of stay for that persons, and you cant so that for someone who has the unfettered right to enter.

Only in limited circumstances when it is impossible to get a replacement Australian passport will an endorsement be placed in the foreign passport of an Australian citizen to enter Australia. But it is rare.

Yes, but he wasn't Australian when he applied for and was granted his Aussie visa, and entered Australia...only when he departed.

  3. Chronologically the headline is correct. Technically, the climb wasn't too relevant. It might read better if they said he died from the fall.

Stupid headline, tragic story for him and his family.

Help.... The Teh grammar police haev invadd our forem'ss ...........................wub.png

The grammar is fine. He's from the Comprehension Police.

  4. Last year my Thai wife and I took our then 4 month old son from Phuket to Sydney for a 4 month holiday. My wife and son had separate Visitor Visas. We had planned to (and did) get his citizenship and Aussie passport in Sydney.

When we checked in, I showed the visa grant notices to the airline. No problem for my wife, but they seemed a bit stumped with our son's visa for some unknown reason. The boss came out and 3 staff were looking at the paper. They kept asking if he had an Aussie passport. I said he is not Australian, he has a visa to visit. If he was Australian, he could not get a visa.

  5. WORTH Every Satang

1 - keeps the traffic jams lighter

2 - adds to resale price

3 - status symbol that people can easily recognize

4 - the rest of us drive 2500 cc or less, so we are easy to pass

5 - Fastest way out of here

6 - still drive like you are on the old honda dream. No matter how rich you are.

7 - police would never pull you over. FEAR of promotions lost

Not enough time to list the benefits today

As for customs, every time I have to deal with them the extortion is blatant.

    ? ? ?

    8 - murder with impunity.

  6. Withaya said doctors had determined he had internal bleeding and thrombocytopenia. The bruises on his body might have been the result of thrombocytopenia.

Or vice versa, bruising could be a sign of being beaten, which could very well cause internal bleeding. Something not quite right here.

    you are not a doctor

bruises don't make thrombocytopenia but thrombocytopenia makes bruises

I certainly hope not. 'Doctor Ramrod' doesn't sound too appealing.

Also, try and read again what Ramrod said, but this time take your time and let the words sink in.

  7. Maybe they need to actual follow international standards of grass cutting to keep birdies away. I notice many Thai airports failing maybe bird scarers like they use on farms?as the grass grows so damn fast.

That reminds me of when I was waiting to catch a flight from Luang Prabang 18 years ago. When the plane appeared, ready to land, a guy came running out with a big stick and chased all the buffalos off the runway thumbsup.gif

  8. Bluespunk post # 4

precipitation on Wednesday reached 59 millimetres, many areas suffered from inundation on Wednesday because although the precipitation was not huge, the first 100mm in those areas it could not be drained away fast enough."

    Erm.........

Methinks the ''experts'' need some assistance in the mathematics field.

And while we are there- how about general education?

    How about Pol Maj-General education?

  9. CPR? Does anyone think there is even a remote possibility that these people have been trained in even basic care practices with children. Forget basic CPR and first aid, I doubt the thought of providing training as advanced as this has even crossed any mind. Are these centers even licensed and regulated? I doubt it? Common sense dictates that you don't have any equipment that could possibly harm or kill a child. But TIT where common sense is severely lacking.

Lets not forget the number of children who have simply been left to die in school buses. I doubt very much any training is given or even the term responsibility has a Thai translation. There would be no such thing as CPR and if you needed an ambulance well that could take hours to arrive as no body at all moves out of their way if they are rushing to a life threatening situation.

Try getting any sort of employment in Australia if you don't hold a current first Aid certificate.

Try getting a job in Australia without training of any kind. Almost everything requires some kind of certificate.

But we don't need a uni degree to work at 7Eleven in Australia.

  10. This has got to stop, absolutely ridiculous if it is 80 then its 80 baht. this guy wants sacking if it is his decision, there is ample rake off from the lottery takings to pay all a commission.

Potato crisps (LAY brand) marked on the packet at, example 30 baht. got 30 baht to give the shop keeper she said NO 40 baht because this is in the Udon Airport building---SO WHAT ?? Bali Hi pier Pattaya mini mart, 30 baht marked---sell at 40.

It should be illegal to do this whether it is lottery or goods.............another off topic but where the law is not applied when the police raid a place and grab 2 female prostitutes, as it is illegal in Thailand??. All these side winding things have to be seen to.

But they're stamped with a blue seal...what more do you want? thumbsup.gif

  11. At least they're finally making good use of today's technology. Of course, Google Earth has been around for a long time now for free, and for relatively small dosh offers enhanced real-time pix. This begs the question why, over the past several years, did they not have one clerk scanning Google Earth for encroachment, illegal logging, and illegal burning? So many problems could have been nipped in the bud.

Because she was stuck on Facebook.

  12. Get rid of the whole corrupt apology of a lottery!

the whole thing needs to be scrapped and modernised

There may have been infrastructure issues in the past but not now, Thailand is well served with a communication network that could now support an electronic distribution network

Time to move into the 21st century

Then the only thing in the 21st century would be the lottery coffee1.gif
