  1. What is the attraction of living on an island ? I don't get it... Sure, if it was unspoilt with beautiful beaches and crystal clear water, it might be nice for a holiday but to live on Samui smile.png

    Each to their own though...

One of the upsides to living on Samui is that Thailand's troubles don't seem to affect life there much. Other than maybe the exchange rate.

No gov't coups, massive protests, occupying of buildings or the airport like in the BKK.

No fighting the Muslims like in the south.

No border skirmishes like in the north.

No tsunami threat like on the west coast.

Pretty good..I still have the 1 foot Tsunami's to deal with..

(I live at 4,000 ft on an island, but 1 foot Tsunami broke the Seawall) we have vog in Hawaii,

    so Samui sounds really good..

    Aloha

  2. Anyway.. SS benefits can be direct deposited into the Direct Express debit card from Comerica bank in Omaha. Its a US federal debit card, in which one cannot make deposits, only withdrawals.

It has a chip now, so should be good in Asia..

I saw the salt lantern vid.

If You google it..salt water lantern, it comes up to buy? I think..I dont have sun in my cloud forest , so it would really help at night around here.

    Thanks again..

    Aloha

ps. Wonder how @ naam is doing with ice trays..

  4. If we (you).. come up with a useful light or power that would be easy to use , or cheap and not so easy, the university of Hawaii at Hilo has an incubator for new ideas, and "can cut a check for $3,000,000.00" after proof of concept or prototype or something like this.. podcast is available.. to listen to their show about funding new products..

Keep up the good work !

  5. For three bucks you cannot go far wrong.

    Is it worth asking:-

How long to charge fully from solar?

How long does the built-in light run from a full charge?

    Wattage of built-in light?

What technology are the built-in rechargeable batteries, capacity?

LED flashlights with 2aa batteries last weeks with intermittent use Sort of like the more you turn off, or let it rest, the longer it lasts.

I leave it on 4,5,8 hours per nite for my Cats.. Still going!

Seriously, in a storm, a normal flashlight would last 20 min. If you drop it, goodby. L.E.D's will save your life!

    Aloha
