  1. You've conveyed to me that the 30 year lease is not practical for our particular circumstances, I knew about the 2 year 364 day leases, because that's what I negotiated on our current condo but you have passed or inferred other info which has been helpful.

For that, I thank you kindly. wai.gif

let's get things straight Konini. i conveyed some facts concerning a 30y lease, the conclusion that these facts are not practical for your purposes was yours.

calling renting a condo or house leasing is (to me) more than unfamiliar. but then, English is my third language and i was trying to add to my education using an internet search function which confused me even more.

but whatever, i will stick to my definition and claim that one rents, not leases, a condo or a house, one leases, not rents, land and that there is a difference between renting and leasing a car. all afore-mentioned of course assuming your kind permission smile.png

    Third language?

Lease in U.S. means a contract for a (secured ) rental. Gives a tenant some rights in a housing situation.

Rent a car for a day, lease it for (3) years. Then turn it in for a new one.

Some land is leased in Hawaii, and the rest is fee simple, owned, except for taxes..

I gotta go back to sleep..

    Aloha

  2. I don't think that solar pump, back a few pages, is 750 watts..wouldn't it have to be bigger?

I appreciate the links for LiOn batteries , that's our new life right? Sharing this good news about power integrity.I've always been offered to sell solar, as my cousin started a big business in Hawaii 30 years ago with photovoltaics let's buy batteries and make solar energy! Tanks, again!

  3. Re: How much (in Hawaii where I live. A Hawaiian had a brand new Tacoma, (Toyota) and I asked, and he said $42,000. Cash , which is crazy, but Asians like to ask, as stated, but I'm glad to know how $€£¥ much

  4. So about the nsa style rights abatement , up north..' the other north american country '.

Trudeau must have got ' the talk', after being elected .. the same talk that American presidents receive after taking office. .therefore he let it stand. This device Im using, allows me being tracked, and what Im interested in.

A new study which can be googled is 'can most people come up with $400. Many can't, and the author is saying on his rounds of news shows, that the American dream costs $130,000. Kids in college, a couple cars in da garage..

I'll find the link if need.

    Makes Thailand more interesting, no?

    It's here, and it's good

    http://www.theatlantic.com/magazine/archive/2016/05/my-secret-shame/476415/

I read it. What this article tells me is that half of Thai Visa posters are lying about their wealth,

Strangely enough, I gave up work for profit in 2001 when I realized I wasn't getting any further ahead.

Moved out of London and downsized my living and housing expenses.

After my divorce, mainly moved out of the UK and further downsized my outgoings.

Now I'm fairly stable financially, no need to work.

Thailand/Spain/France, all good places to eak out your pension.

UK/Australia(/America?/Canada?) completely hopeless unless you're loaded or able to find well paid work.

The article doesn't say anything about ThaiVisa posters, as most of us are retired and/or accumulated our wealth before 2000.

You are right. It doesn't say anything about a Thai Visa poster, but it does say plenty about the psyche and mentality of a Westerner and please forgive me for being politically incorrect, the average American.

For example, I don't doubt there are well off pensioners or people who accumulated wealth, but in Thailand they may be losing it all to decisions they make. Gf, her family and keeping up with the village joneses.

    Yeah! Gotta be careful..

I still think the American dream costs less than 130k.

Something said, 'yeah, Indiana costs less then California '

There are many places to live, but Thailand has many attributes, and many things are less expensive. . Rentals are like middle America, the Midwest, come to think..

    Alohz

  6. Cheques?......that's so last-century!....we live in an age of push-button instant transfers,if that's too complicated then go for cash. How do you know this guy doesn't have a relative working at the bank and for 200bhat can issue a fake cheque...just for you. whistling.gif ...sounds ridiculous...TIT

Thanks for waking up a thread that has been in hibernate for a few months.

I can inform you that Cashier Checks are not last century when it comes to bigger amounts. It's the same as cash, but safer.. Its cash with your name on it. And millions in cash is just dumb. He could also come with a suitcase full of fake money. Same thing.

Internet banking doesn't support multi-million transfers either. Unfortunately.

As with all transactions of such sums... IF its a business transaction then your accounts are set up to deal with larger sums.

IF its a personal transaction (i.e. payment for a car) - then the Cashiers Cheque is the tried and tested method - its slow, its long winded, there are issues with crossing provinces, there is a delay in getting the cashiers cheque authorised, there is confusion as to what to do first... Pay in the Cashiers cheque before going to the DLT for transfer, or transfer first and they pay in the Cashiers cheque... whatever you choose, its going to take at least half a day !

Ultimately a transaction such as this requires a little trust and a little patience in each other. Additionally the issuing bank can be called upon to verify the cashiers cheque

Gotta check, because it can be stopped with a phone call, making it worthless (in US)

  7. My ex American wife made/makes much more than USD$100K per year as a hospital executive. Find that in Thailand. Why are we scraping the bottom of the barrel when choosing a wife? Why support a poor girl and her family? Just for me, Thailand is a place to be single. I'm certainly not dragging some Isaan gal back to the States so I can support her AND send money to her family.

I'm single in a modest sized town in the US. (Salem, Oregon.) I own my home and my cars free and clear. I have no debts. I have savings. I have Medicare F which will cover anything/everything with no deductibles or co-pays.

I "could live" on 45K baht per month but I don't want to. I don't have to. I lived in Thailand for just one year on a retirement extension and that was enough. Compared to where I live all of Thailand is a shit hole of litter, garbage, rats, dirty water, dangerous highways, dangerous electricity, dodgy medical care, and bad enough manners to play loud music any time of the day or crowd in front of me in a queue. I used to think that sidewalks were for walking on, silly me.

This is my idea of what a town should look like. Nothing fancy, just organized and clean. Note garbage cans and even that ashtray lower right. This is called "civic pride" where everyone cares about litter and blocking sidewalks, etc. It's cultural.

    Cheers.

    attachicon.gif!!! ! 11.jpg

how many people have been shot dead by the police in the last month in your "civic pride" place?
    In Oregon.. none!

    isn't that off topic?

Hey guys, if beer is your mark of a place to live, remember, beer is sweet like sugar, yeah?

Especially crap beer, and they means your immune system takes a nap for a few hours when encountering sugar..according to bbc...so drinking water is better. .

    Right?

    Aloha, anyway

  8. my experience: lead acid 12v, 2x120ah each 3,300 Baht in series 24v powering two waterpumps lasted 3½ years in ambient environment. same bank in airconditioned environment powering big screen TVs, PCs, lights and ceiling fans lasted 4 years and 9 months.

fumes inhouse banks a breeze exhausted with 8" 12v PC fans (200 Baht). monthly water check mandatory as inverter integrated chargers trickle charge even when no demand on banks.

deep cycle batteries costing a multiple? no thank you.

pure sine wave inverters? my family name is neither al-Saud nor H@rmony. in China produced inverters imported brought from India INR 7,200 = 3,800 Baht a piece.

    smile.png

I found a lot of pure sine wave inverters on da web...using google

  9. Thanks for your reply @muhendis.

    You wrote:

If the battery is FLA (That's the one with screw caps to allow topping up of the acid with distilled water and to allow readings of the SG to be made) then you can keep an eye on the acid level and apply a desulfation cycle ever so often.

If i manage to store the FLA battery outside there is no healty risk. If i understood well a fla battery can have a longer life if you regularely service the battery.

If i plan to buy later the following only for using the electric wok:

1x100wp panel, gives me on a normal day min. 450watt

    1x125ah fla deep cycle battery

    1xinverter 2000watt

So after using the wok 450watt the battery will be full again.

Is it possible then than the battery last at least 5 years??

Look how handy such a wok is. Cooking where ever you want, even on the dining table or at your terrace.

I live in an offgrid subdivision.. My neighbors run their generator along with solar panels when running an applience like the elec. wok.

    jus' saying.

    Aloha

  10. Interesting @crossy.

I find this one for 1300usd. What i dont undrstand r the specs. Does this battery have a build in charge controller???

    $1,300 for measly 108 amp hours? w00t.gifsick.gifbah.gif

    what am i missing? huh.png

10 KW is what I meant.

A reconfigured block of em weighed 140 pounds..

    Tessa's is 3,000$.

I'M sure we're on right track.

A 200 mile electric car will powers a house with 4 kw.

For as long as it takes to go 200 miles..

    Sounds like a lousy inve$tment..
