  1. OK, I park my bike outside a Familymart on walking street (plenty of room) I go into shop and buy a packet of ciggies, outside I decide to have a smoke before I move on so I light up, next thing 2 motorbike taxi drivers arive on their bikes and stop beside my bike, they then motion me quite rudly to move my bike about 6 feet down the street claiming that particular unmarked spot was theirs, it's a lot of hassle to move a big bike a few feet so I motion the 2 guys that I'm going once I finish my cig, probably about 1 minute or less, they are obviously quite angry at this and motion me to move now or they beat me up (2 onto 1) so I remain calm and gesture to my cig which is almost finnshed and I'm about to go, not acceptable so one of them approaches me and takes a swing I step back and avoid contact, the other one then moves towards me, I motion both of them to calm down and stub cig out on ground and proceed to put my helmet on. I get on m y bike and one of them hits me a thump in the back, I am a peacful sort of guy and to avoid getting into a fight with maybe 5+ Thais I ignore this and drive off, hearing something like farang go home muttered from the other one.

What are these guys on, are they just nasty by nature, I use MB taxi's all the time and have a few friends that ride MB taxi's, there where no markings on the street, there was no way to see that this was their spot, did they just want a fight, don't they realise that farang money feeds them, what would anyone else have done in this situation, would the police have acted if I reported an assault ?

  2. Are you tenting it or staying in hotels?

My band of merry men will probably just ride down on the 18th since we are only an hour away.

    Cheers for the info.

Looking forward to meeting you guys, if we can manage to find eachother, I ride a Black Honda Blackbird so keep an eye out and if spotted come say hello. Maybe we should all wear TVC teeshirts.

OK, how will we know eachother, i will hang around my bike for a while maybe someone will spot me. Blackbird - Black helmet, ugly irish phecker

  4. Going rate for a new book is about 70k for an improt

So it is not far off.

    50k for a transfer book.

So as long as it is a new book then you are paying 10k service fee

If its a transfer burn his ######ing shop down.

it was originally to be a new book 80k as Mr X advised me that was the best thing, I found out from a 3rd party during the process that he had requested a transfer book, i quized Mr X letting him know that i could tell the difference to he assured me it would be a new book, i left his shop and he was on the phone right away getting it changed to a new book, this guy is a crook and I don't like crooks, 55k is what the book is costing, 3rd party takes 5k and mr x gets 20k of my money for doing nothing except give my paperwork to 3rd party who I now know and I could have gone to hime directly for 60k

  5. Gazza you are spot on, there are two ways to get a book, a new book "legal" or a book from another bike made up to match your bike "illegal"

It is always best to get the legal book as mentioned you will have problems when selling or transfering ownership, the new registration system recently introduced is now on computer and makes it very simple for the authorities to check the authenticity of you bike and paperwork, the registration is a legal document.

I am currently going through this process after buying a bike without plate, the main thing is to make sure you have the correct import documents and invoices when you buy, then find a reputable person that will process this for your plate without ripping you off.

I went to a certain dealer in Pattaya who convinced me that he could do all this for me for 80k, he advised me about how straight he was and that a new book was always best especially if I ever wanted to sell the bike on, so I gave him my paperwork and let him go ahead. through the weeks that followed i discovered that he wasn't doing the work at all, he passed my paperwork to another person that I have met since, I could have gone to this other person myself, his price is 55k, on top of that he did not request a new book for me, he requested a 2nd hand book from another bike and as mentioned above should only have cost 25k, so this guy was trying to make 55k from me for doing nothing, I went to see him not letting on I had uncovered his rip off scam and asked him what sort of book he had requested for me assuring him I would know the difference when I got it, he assurred me it will be a new book, I left and 5 mins later he was on the phone telling the other chap to change the order to a new book.

I will not publish his name on here or his business but if you need a book done in the pattaya/chonburi area or need advice on a bike when buying PM me and I will put you in touch with the right person.

I still don't have my plate yet but it will be interesting when it comes because I won't be giving this dishonest assssshole 80,000baht

once this is played out I will publish his name and business

i already paid him 17k baht as a deposite, he wanted 20k, he passed 15k of that onto the guy that is doing it, so worst case senario is he gets to keep 2k and i pay the rest directly to the man which would be 45K

i am hoping the man will let me do this, i might offer him 50k, 5k as an extra bonus, as long as i don't have to deal with mr honest farang motorbike dealer. anyone that wants to know who it is....pm me.....everything i have said is true, so i don't really care

well the Thai guy won't deal with me as he has an arrangement with Mr X so I need to know what options I have.

    1. Pay him the full 80kbaht and say nothing

2.Tell him I know every detail about my registration application including the cost's and how you where going to charge me 80k for a 25k plate until I found out just in time and negotiate a fairer price.

    3. Wait until he has the said plate then do option "2" and tell him I will give him 65k for it and not 80k, if he doesn't agree then I am prepared to loose my 17k and walk away, this will leave me with my bike registered in my name but without doccuments or plate, it will also leave him owing money to the Thai guy (40k) for doing the real work, I may be able to get these if I just say I lost them. Only problem is if he can get the bike transfered to his name without me being involved, I understand in Thailand that if the my name is on the book then it cannot be changed without my consent. I really don't want all this hassle but 15,000 is a lot of money to give to someone that did nothing for it. I really don't mine giving Mr X maybe 5k for his donation which was nothing more than local knowledge but 15/20k is really taking the pisss, there is a principle here

any opinions advice would be very welcome.

    4. Never go back to him and get someone knowledable to process it all again.

  6. Augustus...............I can see the point you are making but you must take some additional factors into consideration

1.you are in a foregn country and tthis does place some restricions on what action you can and should take, if this happened in a pub back home I would certaintly act as you suggest.

2, There are a lot of guns and gangs around pattaya and taking actions against any Thai person could end up very sadly for you, very risky.

3.how well do you know the girl in question

4.sometimes it is best to let the authorities deal with criminal activity

    5. you could end up with a criminal charge against you and be deported or imprisoned

  7. go into phase 1, knock on a door and ask the owner if they have received the title deed!!

If the answer is no, then knocking of 80% off the price is pointless.

Thanks Lemel.I found out that the developer lives in phase 1 ,he was very helpful, and showed me some original chanoots and copies of the others in phase 1.Now it's time to negotiate!

Rip Off...............plain and simple, theses developers are stealing your money

  8. The biggest worry is the prevalence of these incidents now....seems there is at least one a week.

Theres a lot of good Brits there....these w***ers are giving good Brits a bad name.

I reckon they should fine them and leave them enough dosh for a taxi to Don Muang and their departure tax.....maybe then they will learn how to behave then.

seems to be English every time too, no wonder they get a bad name everywhere they go, when asked I always take great pleasure in stating that I'm Irish not English, it's a shame as it tarnishes the good English folk too.

Also this behavior has nothing to do with football, the badness is there no matter what the excuse, they are just louts and hooligans looking to cause trouble when their night ain't going so well. I'm sure the older guy was just trying to enjoy the sport then these loud foul mouther phurkers arive on the scene spoiling it for everyone, see it before many times.

  9. Hi All,

I am very interested in buying a villa in this development,it would be in phase 4,i have been told by the very charming sales staff that everyone in phase 1 has recieved their chanoots, and that the other phases are being processed.I have noted many comments on this forum,i just wonder if anyone has any recent information.

    Thanks in advance,

    K.Higgens

what ever they ask for ...... offer 40% less and you'd be about right

  10. open water course in pattaya....well i would go with mermaids, they are the only people i have dived with here though....am right now in the middle of doing my idc/ie(instructor exams) with them right now!they have some really great teachers there!!!

peter was one of the original instructors with Mermaids, I believe he also trained some of them as instructors.

  11. [

...it is not fair to build a property for 700,000baht and try to sell it for 7 million but that is the kind off thing that is going on.

    Not fair?

Somebody go get mummy to sort this out! :o

If it cost 700K and is asking 7 million so what? Nobody is obliged to pay it.

If someone does pay it, its because he thinks 7 million is a fair price for it.

Its not fair for Starbucks to make coffee for 9 cents and sell it for $2 either.

    thanks you've made my point.

quote .....Nobody is obliged to pay it.....correct but some idiot will

quote .....because he thinks 7 million is a fair price for it.....yes he is being conned by crooks and you know it. I hope they all read this thread before handing money over.

a coffee at starbucks is not someones life savings

  12. Im interested to take a scuba course , Budget around 7-8000 Bht

do you have any place in Pattaya for recommend?

    Thanks alot

    Bambi :o

PS. i found one place in BKK , Ekkamai "The Livingsea" 8500 bht .. this course , study in Bkk and have to practise at Patter

Give Peter a ring on 0671357891, they are a great bunch of guys and are some of the very first instructors to work in this area, they are master divers and instructors, tell em you know me Geoff

  13. Are the farangs in and around Pattaya and Jomtien very rich?....Just curious

We just got back from the area after spent 3 weeks there looking for the future retirement properties. Looked at some of the development...like Siam Royal View...Paradise villa...Bhu tara...View Talay Marina...and even Baan Talay in Bang Saray.

Just couldn't believe the price they were asking for! Let's see the mininum average land price is about 22000 baths per sq. wah - no sea view..unbelievable! I thought View Talay Marina is so expensive, but Baan Talay land price is out of wack!(50-150 mil baths per sq wah - just for the land only)

Is this real current market price?...Or am I just dreaming?

Here I thought my budget of 11 mil baths for land and house is reasonable...but I guess now is just a pasting dream of mine to live in the area with some sea view after all!

Just a question. Are these high end / luxury developments have any buyers at all?...Who're these buyers?.... Most of them seem to be sitting empty with only a few buildings up and the rest is just the empty bare lands.

    Any thoughts?

They are ripping people off, these jacked up prices are a typical western style con mentality, if you get one company or a consortium of co=op companies they will do price setting, these properties are beeing priced way beyond any resonable margin, it is western greed, but you get the idiots that don't know any better buying because they don't realise they are being ripped off, they will realise in a couple of years when the prices are driven down by saturation and low demand, it is not fair to build a property for 700,000baht and try to sell it for 7 million but that is the kind off thing that is going on. These crooks are playing on the fact that most people don't realise how cheap it is to build here. My figure may not be exactly right but you get the idea. Price fixing is common in many industries, people look around see all the prices in the same bracket and assume that must be the going rate and pay. Unfortunately these companies are getting rich quick and can buy up land holding a monopoly on the market, this will end when buyers realise they are being ripped off and the buying will stop forcing prices down, the loosers are those that have already bought.

People in the realestate business don't bother replying to me please.

  15. boy has it ground to a halt within the last 30 minutes, i upgraded from 256 to 512 yesterday and this today is very very bad indeed, there must be technical problems somewhere, i tried to call TT&T tech line and it is constantly engaged, i tried a speed test and it timed out lol

  16. No, that's not how it works. Each ping value is the latency from your PC to the IP address noted.

202.47.253.217 is CAT's router in the US, the latency of ~250ms is the tip over the Pacific.

CAT doesn't have a router in the USA, the node you describe above is in Thailand, my trace software also has a geographical map display, it also shows location data. I also understand about latency but most people know what ping is so i use that term. I worked for Nortel Networks for 27 years
