Unless we agree that Thailand is absolutely the best place to be, we can exercise our choice and spend our time where it is better.

If somebody thinks that Thailand never changes must be living in a cave and doesn't go out in the real world.

The question is if changes are for better or worse.

The point is : I still enjoy it here, but come only one or two times each year (as opposite three to six times many years ago).

Lucky enough my situation allows me to choose and you are right. I have nothing to worry about so I don't.

    Point taken.

But we also must understand that the World is changing not just Thailand.

Change always happens everywhere, we must adapt to change or be left behind.

As I said pages back in an earlier post, the changes are being made to make us all safe

The people coming here have changed.

Some of the people coming here are not nice people.

Thailand is a beautiful place to be, but the present system makes it less and less comfortable and less and less friendly ????

Unfortunately peoples mindset is also changing - and not for better.

What a pity. It used to be my favorite place but now I don't feel welcomed in here the same way it was some years ago - so I spend more time elsewhere.

If you got nothing to hide you got nothing to worry about.

Best you keep your negative thoughts to yourself.

I feel sorry for you glass half empty, pessimistic people, god I'd hate to be you guys.

    Seriously suicidal candidates.

Nonsense, taxi drivers are not going to go to the expense of buying a new set of wheels and tyres and most taxis are owned by co-operatives, not the drivers, so they cannot be modified as "your friend" suggested.

Stranger things have happened here in the LOS

Sorry to correct you, but the so called SMART cars used by Immigration are not Series 5 BMWs..... Just been to my local Immigration office (Nakhon Pathom) for 90 day reporting and there parked outside the office was one of the three cars which are normally based there.  As you will see they are Series 330e models.

    20200129_125643-iv.jpg

FYI... Current list price of the 330e is 2,300,000 THB including taxes.

    Oooooh, you poor thing.

You live with the poor people. Nakhon Prathom get the budget priced BMW.

Chonburi immigration wouldn't belittle themselves to drive such a poor man's car.

Seriously though, what a horrible place this is becoming to live.

Encouraging people to call up and 'report' foreigners, cars creeping about surveilling foreigners, people that have foreigners living with them being investigated, fingerprints being taken on entry to the country, etc.

    Couldn’t agree more.

    I arrived here 2002.

The place has changed but there is no need to be so negative, they are putting in place measures to make the place safer.

I've noticed the quality of the foreigners (some) coming here are a different kind.

Nasty, horrible, mean, penny less etc. a horrible lot.

If you're one of them dont bother replying with your nasty hatred, hostile comments.

You need to fix your own problems.

Don't come to thailand with that attitude, go back to your own country and be miserable.

The Thais have had to find better ways of controlling these type of people.

I am ready for your nasty comments that I'm sure I will see.

    Lets see who they are....

This isn't Pattaya or even Phuket where the minimum fares are several hundred Baht.

I know what the fare is in the different places.

The reason I started this thread was to find out:

    How often does this happen?

Should I report it to save other innocent people?

It was a long journey as you can see by the fare, but what about other foreigners who may take a long trip?

Maybe they would just pay up ( 50 - 100% above the normal price).

    You should report it

But why does it have to be a BMW? Why not a basic Toyota with all the technology attached to it. Also, when these cars need maintenance and repairs, it costs a lot more compared to a locally made Toyota, etc.

This is a huge waste of tax payers' money.

They are patrol cars also, why would they want a basic Toyota for that purpose?  They are locally made and maybe BMW gave them a better deal than Toyota.

They are patrol cars - so

why would they want a basic Toyota for that purpose - because its practical and common sense

maybe BMW gave them a better deal than Toyota - NOPE

I suppose you're also going to assume that BMW will do a better price on servicing.

The fare is from 65 to 75 baht depending on the traffic

OMG, the taxi motorbikes here is PAttaya wouldn't start their motorbike for that little fare.

If they did you would probably get 100 metres.

I hate the metered taxis that dont turn on their meters ar tamper with them........but you got to feel sorry for them.

I reckon Thailand has the cheapest taxis in the world, I hate catching a taxi in Australia.

I'll be as clear as I can be: "Yep, a few years ago the government remove subsidies " not correct, the subsidy system is still in place.

    Did I say all subsidies?

Yes there is still a subsidy system in place.

Why are you complicating my comment.

I keep my comments brief and to the point.

A subsidy is a benefit given to an individual, business, or institution, usually by the government. ... The subsidy is typically given to remove some type of burden, and it is often considered to be in the overall interest of the public, given to promote a social good or an economic policy.Jun 25, 2019

The question was - has there been a change in policy regarding Diesel Fuel as it is now more expensive.

Why do you bother answering "at the moment" or why do people post figures for 2019 regarding my comment.

I'm talking 5 or more years ago when subsidies were removed.

    The price of Diesel increased.

No, that was njot the question.

TO be exact, so everyone can understand: the subsidy system has not changed. At the moment the subsidy on diesel is 0 Baht.

Mate, I dont understand what you are reading, are you trying to annoy me, you're doing a good job.

I replied to Post #55 (below), after i commented i got a reply from the hostility guy said NO (he posted irrelevant 2019 data), then you are replying with reports about today's diesel prices and today's lack of subsidy.

I never made mention of what is happening today with subsidies and diesel prices.

Has anyone noticed that Diesel prices are now about 1 Baht higher than Gasohol (91/95)? That's new to me here in Thailand, used to be the opposite with Diesel being about 1B cheaper. Has there been some shift in policy?

Yep, a few years ago the government remove subsidies

The subsidy system is still applicable, but due to the current pricing there is no subsidy applied at the moment. If diesel prices start rising the subsidy will be applied again, due to the system still being applicable.

Again, from an earlier post " As I mentioned, you are correct to a certain extend. But only to the extend that at this moment in time there is no subsidy since it is not necessary, if the prices go above the desired level if will be subsidised again. ".

    Lets keep it Simple.
