Then why do so many Thais not stop and help when they see an accident? We've all seen videos of them driving around or past someone sprawled in the road. I can only assume they lack the basic decency and humanity to refer to.

They do not want to get implicated, injured people tend to want to blame others for their stupidity.

The injured party could easily blame you for the accident.

This is why the Thai's mind their own business.

I just saw a photo of someone sitting on their bed with a sheet or towel over their head, and two policemen in their dwelling, and it brings up a question:  a2.jpg.7eb2f4166425285ecb99050cd346387b.

    • Why do you let the police into your dwelling unless they have a warrant?
    • Why do you allow press or a photographer to enter your dwelling?

The police cannot just search your home without a warrant, not even in Thailand.

You don't have to speak with them.

You can meet with them on your own terms and certainly not in your dwelling.

You can refuse to allow press into your home.

    Do people not know this?

Undercover cop, bar fined the girl, took her short time room.

The undercover cop opens the door and lets the BIB in.

My advise is go and see "Assist Thai Visa", they know the laws, the requirements for your needs, and they do it for you. Yes, you pay them a fee and its done! Much rather do it that way then relying on other peoples opinion.

They do all my visa and immigration work, very excellent and can highly recommend.

    Best wishes.

You're giving advise and in the same breath youre saying dont rely on others opinion. LOL

BTW, not sure if the Forum rules allow you to promote companies.

  4. My last battery died without warning. couldn't start the car to get a new battery.

I rode my PCX to the battery shop on Sukhumvit where I usually buy my car batteries and bought s new battery.

The technician jumped on the back of my bike with a new battery and jumper leeds.

He connected the cars battery terminals to the new battery with the jumper leeds.

This allows the computer to maintain power once the old battery is removed.

Just a heads up for you guys, could save a lot of pain reconfiguring your car's computer after a power loss.

Yes, it is a very different place these days.

It's because of the idiots that come here now, child like people who have never grown up, thinking its a playground. You always had the occasional bad guy here but now they seem to be so many more.

I arrived here in 2002, back then the police would shut shop at midnight, yep you wouldn't see a cop till daylight.

I had a friend that fell off his motorbike because he was so drunk.... he was stopped at a traffic light. A policeman pulled up and helped him back on his bike and away he rode.

I think these checkpoints are a good thing, yes sometimes they do target the foreigners, but Thailand needs to cull, get rid of the bad guys, the idiots, the trouble makers so the we good foreigners can enjoy our stay in this beautiful country.

Just keep legal, it's not difficult, get the correct documents, it costs a little bit of money and some time.

how long you have lived here and haven't figured out what the stops are really about?

I'm right on target, the stops are getting rid of the bad guys.

Repeat offenders are getting deported, Immigration are getting involved.

What are your thoughts on "what the stops are really about", do tell.

You get two visa exempt entries per calendar yr. You can extend each by 30 days. You can obtain setv anywhere outside los.

Many ways to stay for some time. Perhaps 6 to 12 month. Eventually it gets more difficult. Where do you live in los. Just related to good border entry and setv that suits.

So, if you arrive on a 30 day tourist visa from Cambodia you can go to Jomtien immigration and get a 30 day extension?

Many people seem to overlook that we use agents due to convenience not poverty. Im tired of judgemental posts tinged with sanctimony . My monthly and yearly income exceeds the requirements but the income stream does not meet the unimaginative definition of pension by the IO. This kind of beneficial corruption exists when and where laws are not for purpose. It is functional not dysfunctional. Regarding those critics including the OP. Its not your business.

Why did you bother posting, he's not referring to your situation.

    Chill dude,keep your hat on.

  9. I would like to spend a few days travelling from Pattaya to Sihanoukville.

I thought of riding a motorbike.

I will probably leave the motorbike at the border.

Has anyone have details of a places to park, leave it long term parking?

Any thoughts, what hotels, places to visit along the way?

It's always a good idea not to let anyone drive your vehicle.

get a local company/driver to drive you to the airport in their vehicle, not alot of money.

    Often called a taxi

In the west, yes a taxi.

ask for a taxi in Thailand you may end up with a tractor and cart to the airport
