Why would you write that, you are just compounding negativity.
They just want you to be contributing to the economy, it’s not a lot of money.

Does the British embassy do anything useful any more ? Seems to me to be a waste of time and money. Might as well close it down.
They have chosen to go down this path for legal reasons. They are protecting themselves, too many British expats are doing the wrong thing, signing false documents etc.
Don't blame the embassy.

The logic is not there, it it?
They'll issue me a work permit and extend a non-B every year as a teacher on 37,000 per month.
But now that I'm retired. I've gotta have 65,000 per month. With all my free time, I'm going to drink 1000 baht a day?
This is the logic
It is a clever move by the Thai authority, I have notice over the years the 800,000 baht is quickly spent over the next few months after the extension is issued, the funds being in a Thai bank account are easily accessible, I often spend on unnecessary items as others will do also.

So you want only the elite here !
Lots of good , honest persons on low income also supporting the Thai economy!
Yes get rid of the bad guys and trouble makers. But the ones who always show up on time at immigration , who never overstays , and followed the rules. now they will also get in trouble.
If you want an elite society , this is it.
the legitimate ones will have to sell some of their assets back home to fund their retirement in Thailand.

Think about all the empty condos , and lost business .
The old retired pensioner has to move out , he can afford a life here but not 800k in the bank. I would think there must be at least 100 000 people who will get in trouble.
So it will affect the Thai people and the economy , if you live on a small pension , lets say 50k per month , you can still live a decent life in Thailand.
It’s about bloody time, it should filter out all the dead wood (all the lousy miserable B@st@rds) and the legitimate ones will have to sell some of their assets back home to fund their retirement in Thailand.

I heard on the radio (local station here in Pattaya 103fm) this morning the presenter referred to it (800,000 baht) as DEAD money - What stupid reference.

Her first report of staying longer than 90 days in the country will be due 90 days from the date she applies for her first extension.
A report in person can be done up to 15 days before the report date or 7 days after including the report date in the country. Online reporting is possible within a window of 15 to 7 days before the report date.
Link for online reporting site. https://extranet.immigration.go.th/fn90online/online/tm47/TM47Action.do
Or are you asking about her applying for extensions every 90 days to match your 90 day extension since you are attending a language school. After she gets her first extension you wife's extensions will be due at the same time yours are due. Her first extension will only be done to the date yours ends when she applies for it. It will be the same paperwork for every extension after the first one.
I arrived in Thailand on the 7th July and had my retirement extension renewed on the 15th of July.
Is my 90 day calculated from my arrival or extension renewal?

There's your answer. Ring them up and tell them you have the flu. Ten days later return for your thumb scan.
Nope, that's not an answer, 10 days.
I assume he was hoping for the 12 weeks (3 months) leave that the students get every year.

I will attempt to find out.
You should know what's in the contract, you were a signature.
Your leave would have been documented.
From what you've reported you have no idea, which means you're probably have no leave.
Next time you sign a contract it's good practice to read what you're signing.

But what is the Exchange rate when Thai banks convert the money? I bet it is a crap rate.
It's similar to the rates offered by TT and other exchanges. Not that much different.
Always do the exchange here.

Saw a new Mustang last week in the parking lot at Grand Prix Golf Club in Bo Phloi. Didn't check the engine size, but it's a fine looking ride.
Yes, it is a grey import, Mustangs have always been here, not imported in by Ford.
As Retfed50 mentioned, Ford Thailand are coming on board here.

All the above are good tips, but watch out for the exchange rates, aussie banks are notorious for giving bad exchange rates when converting for AUD to any other currencies, shop around for good rates as a few satangs or cents can mean a big difference in the outcome...

Send Aussie dollars to Thailand, why on earth would you send anything else.
All the Thai banks convert to Thai Baht.

I am reading it's going down to 19 in the near future.

That used to be the law where if you spent over so many thousand baht you could buy alcohol outside the official hours, however the government put a stop to that 3 or 4 years ago and no alcohol can be bought outside the official hours. I have tried to buy, and told politely, no.
Yes, same here.
