  1. My father started having dizzy/light headed spells resulting in a few falls and as a result had a pacemaker fitted, but that was when he was 88 or 89. He had always had a low resting heart rate and I'm in the same boat. According to my fitness watch, it sometimes drops to 44 and my resting rate is now 50. On top of that, I do take 5mg amlodopine for blood pressure and occasionally feel lightheaded if I bend over and quickly stand up straight again. Hence my interest in this thread. It must be quite stressful, but as you are actively doing something about your health issue, I'm sure things will work out for you.
  2. Thanks for the very detailed post. I know that my father has cut out a number of triggers. Tomatoes, coffee, tea, etc. It looks like I will have to do that too. I now have very low tolerance for spicy foods. Within half an hour after eating something spicy, I notice increased acid. Based on your post, I presume the reason I notice it is that the LES isn't working as well as it should.
  3. I take it you mean that lots of carbs will "increase" stomach acid, not reduce it. Hence, a low carb diet may help reduce stomach acid.
  4. Yep. White coat syndrome. Blood pressure always higher at hospital than at home. Seems I'm a bit like @Neeranam Slightly elevated blood pressure, but not serious and low resting heart rate (Just seen the latest post and it would seem that low blood presure is involved). According to my fitness tracker, which I recently invested in due to similar concerns, my average resting heart rate over the last 7 days 49 bpm. While low resting heart rates are not uncommon especially in fit people, it is quite unusual to have low resting heart rate and high blood pressure. In my case it would appear to be genetic as my father is the same. After a few blackouts when he was 88 or 89, he had a pacemaker installed.
  5. I bet there's a few members who would rejoice at something like that happening at their abodes.
  6. I actually do this, but not to save energy. Just to save time making a cup of tea. ????
  7. I'm with you on this. Biden is too old and Trump is a moron. There surely are some much better options on both sides.
  8. Certainly not in my area of Kalasin, if my wife's family are anything to go by. They pretty much think that PT sold its soul to the devil for the sake of Thaksin and as a result are definitley not cheering about his return.
  9. Come up here to Northern Kalasin. It is the hills that make it so much fun, but tiring too. Fantastic views, exhausting hill climbing and fantatstic freewheeling. Not taking anything away for your 200kms though. That is amazing. I've never been anywhere near that distance in a single ride. ????????????
  10. It is one of the double standards I do not understand. Quite a few men in long term relationships have posted on Thaivisa over the years about having one on the side or that they play around, but they would not tolerate their missus doing the same (as it's wrong!!!!!!). Hypocritical sods.
  11. Having worked in a law firm for 30 years, I know that having a law degree doesn't necessarily mean you are not a moron. On the other hand, I know many very intelligent people who don't have degrees. Having a degree nowadays means pretty much SFA, apart from having a debt that needs to be paid off.
  12. I think you'll find that quite a number of PT followers are now former followers since PT joined hands with Junta and other former government parties, despite promises not to. So perhaps the numbers are not as high as that because many are aware that Mr. T was definitely involved in this decision.
  13. With the very shallow Gulf of Thailand, I think they'd be better off with one of these:
  14. Just checked the Thaiwater.net website and seen that Kalasin seems to be one of the provinces doing well for rain. Many of the medium sized dams/water supply lakes/or whatever the eff they are called are above 100% and the large Lam Pao Dam is at 77% capacity. Mukdahan, Sakon Nakhon and Ubol also seem to be doing quite well. Syled it down this morning, resulting in a canal in front of the abode. Couldn't see the mountains in the background when I took the photo, so it must have still been raining quite a bit on the border with Sakon Nakhon.
  15. I totally misinterpretted the headline and assumed one of the Super Troupers had said something stupid.
  16. In this day and age of supposed climate change, why not buy a massive elastic band. It would save a lot of money and be good for the environment.
  17. I've lived and worked here for 40 years. I have no bank accounts in any other countries. In many years past, the interest rates on savings accounts here were quite good. Unfortunately, back then I wasn't earning enough to save much so did not really benefit. By the time I was able to start putting money away the interests rates had dropped considerably. Transferring money overseas was not reallly on my radar at that time.
  18. Four months is the norm for improvised heart disease, which coincidentally corresponds with when he will be able to walk out of the hospital as a free man.
  19. The rain definitely arrived late according to the in-laws (my first rainy season here), but it seems to have caught up, which is great as I hate watering the garden and I would have needed to do that often as we've had the Taipei grass planted and it will take about 3 to 4 months to fully cover the lawn area. Actually, I'm lying. My wife would have done the watering.
  20. Decent amounts of rain up here in North Kalasin. Sakorn Nakorn seems to have been getting loads too.
