  1. You need to drink a lot when you take it.Cures constipation for me as I take for Kidney stone issues and coincidentally drink massive quantities of water when Im taking it
  2. I have read several times that on average women make better financial advisers than men because they are slightly more risk averse and on average will admit and correct a mistake quicker than male counterparts..If this is indeed true as I believe it probably is,not bad qualities in a pilot as well.
  3. I'm developing a theory that for people with attention deficit disorders the internet is a disaster....So many websites are perfectly designed to exploit that condition...and reek havoc on our lives. I wish some one with more knowledge than I have would look into this ...and develop some method of mitigating the effect...I m also not convinced that it can't enhance or awaken latent or dormant ADHD
  4. Having read the article and the comments...it hard to have a good opinion of the human race or be surprised by how they behave.
  5. I just had a colonoscopy and endoscopy at the Centre for medical excellence across from Sripat in Chiang Mai. Cost for everything was under.30,000 baht including biopsies for celiac. I think the endoscopy only would not be more than 500usd. Lots of English spoken
  6. A very very long time ago I stayed in a quite new guest house in Chiang Mai. The price was 80 baht a night. I fancied one of the receptionist so hung out in the lobby quite a bit. One time some Thai people came in and ask how much for the night. The person on the desk said 120 baht a night. After they were finished...I pitched up and ask .How come you charge them more. The reply "Oh Thai people would think room no good ,dirty for only 80 baht. Double pricing works both ways .
  7. Buddy and I were working on opposite sides of house up on ladders using hammers.Suddenly I hear this god awful shouting ,screaming and swearing from his side. I drop everything to race around to see how badly injured he is.What I see is John screaming at my dog and trying to kick him. I shout..John John what happened. He replies Hit my effing thumb with the hammer. So I understand where you coming from . But I felt worse for my dog .
  8. Doctors take the Hippocratic Oath not hospital administrators.
  9. I bought a 2009 115 cc Click 8 years ago for 15,000 baht with 50,000km on it Like the 4 other Honda bikes I've owned it has been bullet proof. I m not a mechanic but if you test drive it and it the engine runs fine and the steering seems ok. Chances are it will run forever and be grateful for regular oil change and maintenance. The bike has 62 k kliks now Aside from brakes ,tires tubes and oil changes and one new battery it's needed no repair. I'm 175 cm and 75 kg so it works for me. I let the repair shop near where I lived to keep an eye open for a good used bike in a certain price range and they found it for me. The paperwork is a more onerous if you don't have a dealership to help you along but it's not that bad. If you planning on using it a lot and driving long distances at speed and don't know anything about bikes, buy a car... Motorbikes are effing dangerous, especially in LOS.
  10. I have a property with 30 yr lease ,name on Chanote and other documents. I was nominated as the housemaster / owner for immigration TM 30. I sign for myself and non Thai wife as owner/housemaster. Be Hasn't been an issue for visa extension or 90 day report On a 30 year lease it's good to have something in place if the Thai person who " owns".the property should pass away.
  11. I spoke with Chiang Mai immigration about changing from normal savings account to fixed deposit for better interest . This would be at the same bank... Immigration said no issue as long as it's all done on the same day ...so there is no days your money is not accounted for. Bkk bank said no problem getting paperwork from old account as required.
  12. A major reason that other countries have successfully transitioned to legal recreational use if cannabis without issues is strong anti smoking laws brought in to curb tobacco use. People don't smoke in public much anymore. Weed or tobacco. Education about the health issues of smoking anything have more weed users in the west using edibles. In some provinces in Canada weed is sold by the government in the same govt stores as alcohol..With similar rules regarding merchandising/advertising restrictions. It's good thing not to criminalize cannabis use for whatever purpose but bad to promote and encourage it's use . Like tobacco, alcohol, and the fast food sold at 7/11....sorry the last item hasn't made it unto the list yet...but should
  13. I knew Alain for a few years when he first came to CM . Haven't seen him for years. Was a very creative ,talented and likeable guy. I think his mother tongue was French but spoke good English.Sad to hear this whatever the circumstance... A lot of us older expats are starting to hit the wall here.Health issues ,money issues ,emotional issues...I know it's out of place here to suggest but let's show a bit of compassion both for those passed and those in trouble... RIP Alain
  14. It's a very serious disease for young children can result in severe disability.
  15. Old Hippies and hairy hippies chicks Really ....Old Hippies were born before 1960 .We would love to have enough hair on top of our heads for a man bun. The majority of the people in Pai are a generation or two past the hippies. If hippies are unwashed now it's probably because their caregivers aren't bathing them regularly
  16. As for lazy bar girls ...might just be that they are saying no to old boomers . I Ve been here 40 years ...lazy bar girls don't seem interested in me ...like the old days when I was in my 30 s..
  17. Can you ever recall a new generation not being called lazy by the former generation. Goddam long haired hippies smoking pot all day.
  18. Sadly emerging democracies are struggling to find allies that will support and strengthen their commitment to democracy .
  19. Since this tax issue has already been brought upon this thread I'd like to add this query. My experience with tax agreement between countries is this. It does not exempt you from paying tax in both countries just reduces the percentage
  20. My wife and I had a similar experience many years ago...Turned out it was baby spiders...there were so small the first couple days you couldn't see them. .
  21. They made a fist of the legalized cannabis roll out... If they had come out with regulations similar to the sale of tobacco or alcohol it wouldn't have been such a mess. Regulations about advertising ,etc would have been good. I m in Canada now and seeing how it's been dealt with here is so different to Thailand and not so in your face.
  22. Most of the walls have been built or rebuilt in the last 40 years/ Thaphae gate and square wall was rebuilt less than 20 years ago and Chang puek area not too long before that, I don't remember when Suan dok was done but if not during the last 40 years not too loo long before.
  23. Yai mak ,yao mak
  24. Short term use for both pills and gel. But that's true of most Nsaid. Long-term use..can cause liver ,kidney and stomach issues It's absolutely the best for kidney stone pain in the injectable form. But often not prescribed for seniors because of kidney and liver side effects .Older folks often have compromised liver and kidney function as a result of aging.Way better than opiates.
  25. About 5 years ago I contacted a business in the BKK area selling shipping containers . Guy I dealt with was Canadian ...I found them online.. I had it trucked up to where I was building a house about 3 hours southwest of Chiang Mai (fairly remote). Truck had a Hi ab crane on it. We poured some short appox 40cm x 40 cm post a few days before the arrival. to set it on so it would be level in an area that was accessible by the truck. I ordered the cheapest one available. Too beat up to got to sea anymore. But weather proof and still able to be closed and locked. It cost me just about 56000 baht. They make excellent secure storage. There is no economic sense to build a dwelling out of them. Having said that the creative aspect of building with them might be fun. I ve owned three in various countries ... make sure your ready to receive it in its final resting place cuz they are hard to move once dropped of with out a crane. A digger can drag then around but unless you have a massive digger you wont lift them easily. Good luck Sorry I dont have the contact info but that was before covid so probably not relevant. I though it might be cheaper to buy locally but the guys locally who pretty much paid what I Paid to have them delivered are justifiable keen to make some money on top and you still need the hi ab truck for a couple hours .
