  1. The government needs to put 100% tax on foreign weed like they did coffee beans . Then they can have another domestic industry that never evolves to compete internationally. I find most of the bud here is old and stale probably due to poor handling.
  2. Probably best to assume govt and banks closed May 1 ,4,5, I was in CM immigration last week and they said they would be open on the 5 th but closed on the 4 th .but then he asked his colleague and the impression I got was that no one was quite sure... So the from April 29 to May 8 th there are only two days you can be sure banks and govt etc are open.May 2nd and 3 rd
  3. I'm not sure that doing that for revenge will really make the world a better place
  4. There are brick yards along the main road going to hangdong...and along the road that goes between the hangdong road and the canal road . Either the road to Samoeng or the night safari. Good luck and seal the visible surfaces before mortaring... otherwise really hard to clean and point.
  5. A very long time ago I worked in an artisanal leather shop..we are talking fifty years ago..we made sandals ,bags ,belts , biker vests and literally thousands of holders for Bic lighters that you could wear around your neck. Shipped them from Stockholm to Paris I think 1972. You can use wood stain ...much cheaper then actual leather dyes.Because of the solvent based it will dry the leather out so you need to apply some kind of leather care water proofing product like "Dubbin " or Sno seal.Practise on something that doesn't matter to get the color so it's consistent with out streaks
  6. That of course depends on the citizenship you now hold.. If you were from Haiti or ???
  7. I bought my first condo in Thailand in 1989...just a couple years before everyone said the Thai housing market was about to collapse spectacularly. 1997 everything turned to custard briefly.(unless you were sitting on loads of foreign cash)The collapse of the Thai property market has been just around the corner for 30 years or longer. Some condo complex allow daily rentals thru Airbnb some only monthlly Some 3 month is the minimum rental period. Being a landlord takes a certain type of person not to be driven mad by tenants who don't give a damn about your concerns. If you think people are animals who will treat you and your property very badly that's probably what will happen..
  8. After reading the bulk of the replies... I have only one thing to add... Find a good honest lawyer. They do exist here and have them explain all the INS and outs for occupying and controlling a property here..
  9. That happened to a friend of mine ...only he was driving ...wife asleep in the back seat at night dark...stopped at a service station ...he went in the shop ...she got out ...he came back ...drove off...pre cell phones...he was an hour or two down the road...not sure they are still married.
  10. The blankets with the big letter H on them for 1499.00 on the lazada site are probably real wool.. none of the others are priced high enough to be anything other than acrylic. My wife buys the Chinese recycled cotton ones ..and sews two together. Very comfortable and natural fabric
  11. I'm just back from 7 months in Canada, first time since cannabis was made legal for recreational use. I was quite impressed with the roll out there. We drove from west to east coast and saw how each province handles it. I wouldn't want to be the person tasked to figure out how it should be regulated. Thailand seems to have made it very easy and inexpensive for anyone to get the permits to sell it. I applaud the fairness and equality of this but it has lead to hotels offering free weed with a room and tiny kiosks in questionable appropriate places selling weed. Having it legally available for purchase is a good thing but high pressure sales promotions probably not. I hope they can find the middle path with the roll out here before they give up and make it illegal again.
  12. I live at a little over 3000 ft above sea level. The long rainy season has been fabulous...if you're not a rice farmer. It's only gets above 30 when we have a day with several hours of sun usually with cloud cover between 25 and 27and the nights are around 17 Yeah the towels could dry quicker...but the garden has been fantastic and we save about 400 baht not a month not having to water. Although when In Chiang Mai the humidity with the heat is a bit much.
  13. The wat opposite suan dok hospital in CM had pre COVID some English language activities to introduce foreigners to Buddhism. Various Wats have meditation courses but they usually involve multi day stays in the wat. As for christian like church services nothing I m not aware of anything similar in English or Thai.
  14. If you're doing the renewal with 800k in the bank you need to get on to getting 12 month statement from bank ..takes minimum of 5 working days
