Clarification on Retirement Visa
bwanajohn replied to Slinky1958's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
From what you indicate you might have enough dosh to qualify for a LTR visa. Worth speaking to a lawyer/agent to see if that's possible...It's a better deal if you do . -
Yeah I Ve never understood people who don't think and act just like me .

Immigration Thailand Digital Arrival Card. TDAC
bwanajohn replied to CharlieH's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
My wife is returning to Thailand May 5 from Greece...Once she realized she had to submit it within 3 days of her arrival ,not before,it all went smoothly and she has the QR. Code in her phone. Kudos -
I had an upper GI scope and a colonoscopy at the centre of excellence in Chiang Mai about a year ago approx 25 k I was sedated to the point I have no memory of the procedure .Unless you have a good reason not to,I would get both ends scoped . McCormick will probably be cheaper. Government hospitals cheaper than McCormick I would expect .

Root canal prices in Thailand (and comparisons)
bwanajohn replied to NorthernRyland's topic in Health and Medicine
It depends on the clinic..Our local hospital can do them for under 10k baht but one of the fancy clinics could be anywhere from 25 k to 50k or more. My wife ( farang) started to have it done locally ,as it turned out her molar had exceptionally long root and they couldn't complete the procedure because there equipment wasn't long enough and had to be finished in a clinic in CM about 30 k all in . Unrelated but somehow relevant I had my gall bladder removed a couple months ago .I shopped around and was quoted prices fro 70,000 to 200,000 baht at private hospitals. Was told it could be as cheap as 15,000 at government hospital.Surgery and care was excellent. Surgeon used a one incision technique.Cant even see a scar . -
I live at 1000 m above sea level in Chiang mai province. We grow bananas ,mulberry guava, mango, limes, kafir limes lemon, papaya, passionfruit, pomelo occassional pineapple, This is either from trees that were on the property or from what we planted starting 8years ago. ,That list is what has actually produced fruit. In the list of things we are waiting to fruit are Macademia, avocado, oranges, jack fruit, coconut palm, We planted several breadfruit a year ago ,but all but one died due to an extremely cold January all but three night were in the single digits this year. The survivor lost all its leaves but has sprouted new ones . Vegetables ;several types of beans for eating green and drying ,lettuce (several varieties ,no iceberg) pak choy swiss chard ,kale , pak canna ,tomatoes, several varieties of tomatiloes or husk tomatoes, sweet poatoes. Various types of chili peppers, herbs (italian basil struggles to survive the rainy season as do other mediteranean herbs probably do better under some rain protection,Thai basil ,lemon grass.rose mary parsley cilantro, cardoman, Its much more challenging to grow in the tropics than first imagined, more pests, long dry season, poor soil quality, and high heat and humidity.hope this helps

Immigration Thailand Digital Arrival Card. TDAC
bwanajohn replied to CharlieH's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
I was getting an online tourist visa for a country I won't name several years ago..It ask me about previous visits and visas ,When I attempted to enter the info it would not allow it.. ( the previous trips were for business trips with a business visa and that seemed to be the problem) I managed to phone some kind of customer service and was told to just lie . Seems common solution. -
Lots of people in jobs and situations where they are in close contact with lots of other people, masseuses, passengers on planes and mass transit etc .who want to reduce there risk of contracting an illness or in some cases spreading an illness wear masks...not unreasonable especially during flu season..Many people just can't afford to be sick and unable to work

Check out that tree in another year.. Arborists in the west charge the same as dentist...and the less they do the more often they have to come back. I have a tree in front of my house that I cut back more severely than the one shown...In three months it will look that one...in a two years it will be 20 feet high and more than that wide...Huge canopy blocking the view again .It's a tree that he leaves can be used as sand paper can't recall the name right now.But when desperate you can use the little green fruit as an ingredient in nam prik.

I think the problem is related to the fare you paid......or maybe to make it clearer...you get what you pay for. -
Non Immigrant Quota
bwanajohn replied to MangoKorat's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Consult a customs broker...and then use them if what they tell you they can do, and how much it will cost, satisfies you . They will advise on Docs needed and protocols to be followed. -
