  1. If someone at the party had been properly trained and armed, there might have been only two deaths...not 14.

    Wow.

In the UK, there's usually a designated driver for a party. Or hire a mini bus and driver.

What a fun place America is when you have a designated driver who doesn't drink AND a designated trained shooter who doesn't drink. Or maybe he/she volunteers for both duties.

Perhaps a whole new business opportunity. Have your party at our secure facility with heavily armed guards.

  2. Another update.

As per zimba's post, anything (male and female, chickens and ducks) that will stay still long enough for them to mount, they'll shag.

    Hatch rate is very high.

The daughters are great layers with roughly a 50% split of broody and non-broody. The non-broody, so far, are laying every day.

From being a little p*ssed off about all males, I'm now quite pleased they came along.

  3. Action Plan:

Kill snake, apply tourniquet to bitten limb, get in car, drive very fast to nearest large hospital taking dead snake also, attempt to keep heartbeat as slow as possible, drink lots of beer after being assured it was only a harmless tree snake, visit temple to apologise for killing snake, sell house with nice garden and buy upper floor condo in city.

    WRONG !

WHAT you suggest is plain lunacy .............

The subject of snake bites is quite serious and I understand the op's concerns and desire to be proactive about the situation.

The injection of a little harmless humour imo, adds to the thread.

  4. What nonsense. The GOP would be quite pleased to let thousands of Christian refugees in. No radical Islamic terrorist sleeper cells to worry about.

Because christians never do such things. Here is a small list and also the facts from the FBI website.

Wisconsin Sikh Temple massacre, Aug. 5, 2012

Wade Michael Page used a semiautomatic weapon to murder six people during an attack on a Sikh temple in Oak Creek, Wisconsin.

Tennessee Valley Unitarian Universalist Church shooting, July 27, 2008.

Christian Right sympathizer Jim David Adkisson walked into the Tennessee Valley Unitarian Universalist Church in Knoxville, Tennessee during a childrens play and began shooting people at random. Two were killed, while seven others were injured but survived.

The Centennial Olympic Park bombing, July 27, 1996.

Paul Jennings Hill is hardly the only Christian terrorist who has been praised by the Army of God; that organization has also praised Eric Rudolph, who is serving life without parole for a long list of terrorist attacks committed in the name of Christianity. Rudolph is best known for carrying out the Olympic Park bombing in Atlanta during the 1996 Summer Olympicsa blast that killed spectator Alice Hawthorne and wounded 111 others

Suicide attack on IRS building in Austin, Texas, Feb. 18, 2010. When Joseph Stack flew a plane into the Echelon office complex (where an IRS office was located), Fox News coverage of the incident was calm and matter-of-fact. Republican Rep. Steve King of Iowa seemed to find the attack amusing and joked that it could have been avoided if the federal government had followed his advice and abolished the IRS. Nonetheless, there were two fatalities: Stack and IRS employee Vernon Hunter

Planned Parenthood bombing, Brookline, Massachusetts, 1994.

Seldom has the term Christian terrorist been used in connection with John C. Salvi on AM talk radio or at Fox News, but its a term that easily applies to him. In 1994, the radical anti-abortionist and Army of God member attacked a Planned Parenthood clinic in Brookline, Massachusetts, shooting and killing receptionists Shannon Lowney and Lee Ann Nichols and wounding several others. Salvi was found dead in his prison cell in 1996, and his death was ruled a suicide. The Army of God has exalted Salvi as a Christian martyr and described Lowney and Nichols not as victims of domestic terrorism, but as infidels who got what they deserved.

On the FBIs official website, there exists a chronological list of all terrorist attacks committed on U.S. From 1980 to 2005. According to this data islamic terrorist attacks in US are 6% of total attacks whereas Jewish acts of terrorism in the US is at 7%.

These radical Jews committed acts of terrorism in the name of their religion. These were not terrorists who happened to be Jews; rather, they were extremist Jews who committed acts of terrorism based on their religious passions.

The manipulation of statistics. A tactic employed by most dishonest journalists and politicians to manipulate the truth.

Jewish terrorist attacks are 1% higher than Muslim terrorist attacks in the USA? This may be true, but in one attack Muslim terrorists killed 2,972 and injured an estimated 12,000.

The Jewish defence League, Jewish Defenders and Jewish Direct Action, combined, have killed 3 and injured 33.

So, 3 deaths against 2,972; I don't see a 1% difference in the true figures.

I don't know the names of all Jewish associated terrorist groups, but they're doesn't appear to have been a Jewish terrorist attack in the USA since 1986.

OK, so the number of casualties DOES matter when it comes to Jew kills Muslim or Muslim kills Jew, is that what you're saying?

It is not "untrue" figures to cite the actual number of attacks.

Regarding "OK, so the number of casualties DOES matter when it comes to Jew kills Muslim or Muslim kills Jew, is that what you're saying?", I'm not quite sure how you arrived at that conclusion, but the purpose of my first post was to highlight the manipulation of the truth (regarding the use of percentages) and to make forum members aware of the dates. Extremist nut jobs, regardless of their label, religion or motivation, are extremist nut jobs. When extremist nut jobs kill innocent people, I don't consider religion, colour, nationality, etc, I'm aware only of extremist nut jobs killing innocent people.

At first glance the 7%, 6% comparison seems to infer that the radical/extremist Jews are more active, and potentially a bigger problem, than the radical/extremist muslims.

The world today has changed dramatically since the 1980s. Hence my reference to 1986.

If the dates were more current eg from 2000 to 2015, I doubt very much the muslim attacks would be 6%. And the Jewish attacks would be 0%

I have little knowledge of Jewish terrorist actions and have neither the time or inclination to research their motivation. Perhaps they were only interested in damaging property to make a point and get attention directed to their cause. Perhaps they were crap terrorists. Muslim terrorists on the other hand, seem to be massively motivated to maim, kill and destroy.

And you are correct that the figures are not "untrue". However, the presentation of accurate, informative information is appropriate in any debate. Manipulation of statistics is spin and imo, spin and manipulation are not the truth.

  6. 40,000 a month, a frugal life style and the executive position of admin assistant makes her middle class? Wow, standards are low over here.

What figure does 'rich' start at? 75,000? 100,000?

My ex in the UK makes as much as your wife - per week. And she's definitely working class.

I was going to point out that you forgot to say in your op 'she's university educated. Never been a bar girl. Incredibly light skinned. And Thai-Chinese.'

But you managed to get some of those in your later posts.

Whatever you needed to get off your chest, I hope starting this thread helped.

  7. My Dad once told me "buy cheap, you'll buy twice", never a more true word was spoken.

I would almost say we are related, that is what my dad told me too.

Only problem in Thailand is that a higher price does not always mean better quality. Its easy in some cases as a good brand-name does usually indicate better quality but among the no name stuff higher price does not always mean better quality as prices vary a lot.

When it is something that i feel is important i take my time to research it a bit and with tools i never buy the no name crap. Still a shop has some responsibility when selling crap.

In the UK when a shop sells you something, it must be fit for purpose, otherwise you can demand a full refund,

and the shop cannot refer you to the manufacturer.

I'll be sure to quote you next time I'm in Global House.

Yes OK, who is Global House? what I have said is true though, anyone from the UK want to back me up on this?

I'll back you up on that.

Most warranties are for 1 year. The retailer is responsible for the first 6 months. After that, they can refer you to the manufacturer.

Been out of the retail game for a couple of years, but would be surprised if that's changed.

I prefer living here compared to the UK, but somethings I do miss. Like proper warranties.

  8. Although Samphand appears highly suspect, I would lay odds that the police will conclude that the Japanese man died from complications of disease and taking medicine, and not a stabbing. After all, a Thai wouldn't commit murder.

" After all, a Thai wouldn't commit murder."

You ever get of trotting that one out?...Rhetorical question

    Simple amusement for simple thinkers

    I believe it's called balance.

While all the simple thinkers in authority here keep trotting out the BS that a Thai wouldn't do (insert crime here) to another Thai, it seems only fair for someone to take the p*ss.

I (and some others) will continue clicking the 'like' button for such p*ss taking until this country evolves - and also because simple things amuse me :)

  9. my wife "I want a toytoy"

    me "excuse me?"

    "a toytoy......toyyyyyyy toyyyyyyyy na"

    she drew a picture....

    me "ohhhh a tortoise"

    reversed...

me to my mum in law in thai "ded ook leaw" (meaning the suns come out)

my Thai is still at basic and I can only write a little but after much confusion, frowns and then hilarity, it turns out i cant pronounce the difference between "ด" and "ต"

so "เดด" became "เตต" which isnt sunshine at all. I basically told my Mum in Law that her clitoris was out. I even went so far to say how beautiful it was. Now Im banned from ever saying sunshine in Thai. facepalm.gif

That has to be the funniest language faux pas I've ever read.

    Thanks for sharing.

  10. I was actually there when this happened.while the end result didnt look good, there where abt 7 of these foriegn guys being total <deleted>wits(a few steroided up),what occured prior to this wasnt very nice either

and im not sticking up for the thai guys

Unless there is somebody off camera, your objectivity as an eye witness is questionable if you think these guys are 'steroided up'? 'Jacked up' - maybe.

There is nobody in the video that is taking steroids, Thai or farang.

35 years training (trained with a Mr Britain and at the same gym as a Mr Universe) and 12 years bouncing gives me the insight to make that statement.

Whether the farangs were being a-holes is another matter. Maybe they deserved a slap (I'm all for a bit of natural justice/instant karma), but kicking drunken, defenceless people in the head? The action of weak minded a-holes who, imo, definitely deserve some instant karma

  11. Are you Thai? NO

    Are you Buddhist? NO

Do you pay Sin Sod? NO

Are you a bell end if you pay it? YES

Not sure how serious (or tongue in cheek) you meant this to be, but I took it at its juvenile face value.

Gave me a chuckle, even if others thought it necessary to rebuke you.

  12. "On Saturday, two elderly men walked among the overwhelmingly Muslim migrants handing out copies of the Bible in Arabic."

No toilet facilities, nowhere to wash and clean, sleeping on the streets, etc, and a couple of pricks walking around handing out bibles. Just what they need.

There's no need to throw garbage into the sea, but I hope that's where the bibles end up.

I presume there is a shortage of bog roll, so not a good move.

Given their circumstances, bog roll is a much better idea.

Thanks for putting a smile on my face.

  14. Kind of reminds me of a something that happened a few years ago at Christmas time. 4 Marines were outside of a Walmart, using a small bell to collect donations for needy children. Some idiot decides to pull a knife and rob a Walmart cashier. He runs out the door where the Marines were, and then stabs one of the Marines (not seriously). By the time the cops got there, this guy was screaming for the cops to arrest him and get him away from the Marines, who had broken his jaw, both his arms, one of his legs, and something like 6 ribs. The best part of the whole story was when the Chief of Police said - and with a straight face! - the guy suffered injuries when he tripped and fell off the curb.

Thanks for sharing the info about the 4 marines. Two feel goods in one thread!

Quick Google and I found this:

"The subject was also transported to the local hospital with two broken arms, a broken ankle, a broken leg, several missing teeth, possible broken ribs, multiple contusions, assorted lacerations, a broken nose and a broken jaw ..... injuries he sustained when he slipped and fell off the curb after stabbing the Marine," according to a police report.

    http://freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2800536/posts

I love a story (or a news bulletin) with a happy ending!

  15. anyone with a modicum of common sense will know how unreliable video is as evidence.........you simply don't know what you are looking at....everyone was determined to make an interpretation form the CCTV that implicates to 2 guys standing in front of the guy with the rucksack.....now we know that was rubbish......we also know that the "rucksack" guy wasn't the Australian model.....it would be nice if someone......just someone did some serious investigation or deduction rather than this hysterical gossip factory that has everyone running round like headless chickens....

Meanwhile the BBC are finding shrapnel from the bomb that has been ignored or left undiscovered by the police, apparently in their haste to clean up the site and do what they do best"get everything back as it was"

Don't they rea;ise that their actions will do more to damage tourism than the bomb itself.

Having read this, did a quick search and found a video clip http://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-34006372

Watch it to the end (it's just over a minute long).

Perhaps it was a language barrier problem?

  16. "Davis' lawyers compare her to other religious objectors, such as a nurse being forced to perform an abortion, a non-combatant ordered to fire on an enemy soldier, or a state official forced to participate in a convicted prisoner's execution."

All of the above involve taking a human life. Davis is required to issue a document. Where's the comparison?

  17. The little of the thai culture I have seen in my few years here does not make me an all knowing expert about what is acceptable and what is too forward or as some of you have so nicely put it..pervy way. I had already been out to coffee and even a dinner with her. So it was not coming from out of the blue and we were completely alone when I expressed my feelings towards her. In any case I did finally get a reply and it was just a lets be friends reply from her. While I know some of you are barflies and just riding the easy train...some of you actually are in normal(or as normal as relationship with thai women get.) relationships/married to non-bargirls. so just asking about thai behavior is not an odd thing to ask on this forum even for a first time post. I have read thai visa for awhile so its not a sudden discovery and a need to share or something. Just asking for genuine advice about something that struck me as odd and beyond my knowledge of thai culture. I have already seen pots about car insurance..tabs..ect so why would I post about that? I didn't see a post similar to this one on the boards so I went ahead and created a new one. That being said thanks to those who gave a real reply, to the rest of you negative nancies, jog on as you English are so fond of saying.

brewsterbudgen >Bargirls are a far safer bet.

If I wanted to throw my money away sure, if I wanted to have a clingy disease infested dog, I would simply pickup the nearest soi dog for free and bring it home. besides they have sticky fingers as a few of you on here know.

Add to this, the comment about bargirls being "...diseased dogs of the largest order of stupid possible." and it looks like someone had a bad experience (or several) with a bargirl.

Your posts seem quite well composed, and genuine, until you start spitting bile about bargirls.

Perhaps that's why the pretty girl did a runner when your true feelings for her were revealed?

  18. Did a bit of research before I ordered, just in case.

    Take a look at http://www.salon.com/2000/03/15/coffee_3/ and http://coffeefaq.com/site/node/13

They both refer to northern Thailand, and to be specific, 6 provinces. I did find another article that listed the 6 provinces, but currently can't find it. Will keep looking and if I find it, will post here.

Udon Thani was definitely not in the 6.

I was happy with my research re the legalities of caffeine in Thailand. Importing was an area with no definitive answer.

  19. Arrived today.

Cost £7.75 inclusive of international shipping

Bought 240 tabs. They're 200mg, which would have me bouncing off the walls and twitching like a lunatic. 25mg is enough, so some experimentation chopping them up is next.

Picture is of one packet containing 120 tabs. And a 10 baht coin for size reference.

Given that you have just received a shipment of a drug that's not available in Thailand (possibly because it's illegal, I don't know), you may want to go to the temple and donate a few baht.

Next time, you may end up in one of those photos where everyone is pointing at you.

"A drug that's not available in Thailand." I wonder what they put in Pepsi, coca cola and red bull? Perhaps Thailand has special caffeine free versions of these drinks.

As for going to the temple, I'm not sure that's enough. Maybe I should buy an amulet for protection. Can you recommend one which would protect me from the caffeine police?
