Am curious why the write uses the word allegedly when a Thai man is wrong and not when the blame is on a foreigner. Seems they have video and witness so there is nothing alleged about it. As for catching the Thai man. They most likely will simply because of the article written in the news. However I do not expect anything to result in it other than a payoff to the police and fake wais for the cameras to apologise to the foreigner.

He didn’t sidestep this question: when asked if he would become a dictator, Trump answered he will be a dictator on the first day. Dictators usually abuse their power, that’s why they are called dictators. So his supporters may want to be careful what they wish for. Trump is planning mass deportations, and locking millions of people up in ‘re-education’ camps, and/or in mental asylums. Who is to say who is going to be deported, or locked up?Seems you make up your own ideals on this topic. Trump showed last time he was in power to rid the government of illegals and choose more carefully what foreigners get visas to enter the country. Most likely he still plans this.

Not that Thaksin celebrates Christmas anyway but it looks like he'll be spending Christmas in jail (we'll see).
You presume alot. This guy just passed the buck to someone else. Who is to say this is not a ploy now to continue Thaksins hospital stay?

She saved 2,000 baht per month [on average] which she used to buy gold for ten years so she could afford to have a baby.
Do you really think this woman began saving for paying hospital bills to have a baby at the age of 16? How many young girls or even women think they will not have a man married to them to pay for having a baby, especially a Burmy? Also, think about the photo. Very odd the thief would take the time in her home to open all and remove the gold from their packaging. Then there is the normal thing almost all Burmy do with their money. Send it back home to their families. Especially at such a young age.

I think that when passengers have a fit that the reason for crazed behavior should be studied and catalogued. I have mild claustrophobia and have taken planes quite a few times without any issues. Who's to say that one day something like this won't happen to me or anyone of us?
Alcohol or drugs aside, there might be an underlying issue that could be treatable or diagnosed. Its easy to point a finger and blame people but sometimes there are real issues at cause but no one knows them cos no studies have been undertaken, yet
Perhaps you are correct in your hypothesis. But why would you think it in this case? Surely this is not the first time the couple have flown. So any underlying condition to set him off seems a bit ludicrous as a reason for his actions.

Haha, I have seen many times highway police being passed quickly by vehicles that were speeding and the only time I see them on the side of the road is when they stop a trucker.

Thais will never become proficient in their education simply because all schools make it so that the student never fails and is never responsible for doing work to learn. Then the child gets home and nothing is done by the parents to get school work done. There is no real penalties for poor work or no work. I have seen teachers get fired simply because the parent was unhappy their child came home saying they did not understand how to do their homework when in fact their teacher showed them how to do it but the child didn't bother to listen or ask questions to understand it. I have seen Thai teachers giving answers to the final tests for the kids to memorize so they would not fail and then seen those same kids studying just prior to that test. Mind you they did not study how to answer. Instead they studied the order of the places to tick. A,B,C or D haha.. I have seen kids fail even that and be told if they came to clean the classroom their grades would be changed. Many things I have seen that show schools don't care about learning. Their concern is collecting money and passing students... The director of the government school where my daughter went to actually told me his job was to ensure the kids pass. Learning was not relevant...

Am curious where her parents where for those 15 days and nights? Where is the responsibility for a child? How can a 15 year old even book and rent a hotel room without an adult? Seems more to thos story than just getting duped put of money.

20 hours ago, TroubleandGrumpy said:So that boat disaster that happened a few years ago killing all those Chinese tourists, and which resulted in the Thai authorities FINALLY trying to do something to regulate and control the dangerous cowboy boat businesses, will now be tagged as 'mis-information'??
Thailand is desperate - the economy is broken - they are desperately seeking more tourists. But shutting down negative media stories about Thailand's endemic corruption, murders, road deaths, boat sinkings, accidental deaths, rapes, bike hire accidents and deaths, bad infrastructure, terrible roads, non-exitant footpaths, electric wires everywhere, etc etc is not the answer. The answer is to harshly stamp down on those doing those things - send the next Thai who kills a tourist on the roads to jail for 30 years and repossess all his assets and farms and vehicles etc etc. That will stop it dead in its tracks - talking and wai-ing and speaking nicely and 10K Baht fines will not do it. The Thai Govt is cracking down now much more than in the past - but it is far too little far too late - everyone who has visited knows how bad Thailand is in regards to law, order, corruption and safety. They talk - others listen - decades of ignoring it all is finally kicking them in the butt - and they decide to ...... hide it. The Thais all went ape*** over Chinese Poilice being allowed in, and yet they do not see the irony in the fact that Thailand employs 'Tourist Police' - Why? To protect tourists !! Protect them from what ?? It is right there in front of them - they just have to open their eyes and listen.
While those who come here to party and have fun, are not at all concerned by all that - those that have families, or are reserved, or are truly eco concerned, are worried about the things they have seen in the media for many years now. What they need to see is massive crackdowns on those Thais who break the laws in the tourist destinations - social media will bypass any Govt 'suppression'.
Those of us that have been here a while know that tourism has not returned in Thailand anywhere near pre-Covid years - despite all the TAT lies and BS with the numbers they publish - especially the 3-4 million Malaysian tourists which are just people coming over the border for a few days. If TAT was in UK or Europe they would be counting every illegal migrant arriving as a tourist spending 50K each and 'growing the economy'. Very few countries are back to pre-covid numbers, but Thailand is way behind - the TAT numbers are lies, and if the Govt was serious they would immediately sack them and start it all again.
Meanwhile there are about 150-200K Expats right here and in front of them, all spending an average of about 800K to 1 Million every year, year after year, and the Thai Govt is considering how to get income taxes from them. They are driving out those that do spend money in Thailand, and they are not encouraging others from overseas to come. All their BS about high value retirees has been thrown out the window - they are now looking to hit them with income taxes.
Thailand is Amazing - utterly unbelievably amazing.
Just remember. Fake news is generally news that needs to be suppressed to make things look better than they are. Most fake news was not fake until someone saw it caused a detrimental effect on Thailand. They can write history as they want. Change what is taught to make Thailand look so good. But people remember the truth.

Are pen guns now legal in Thailand? That is my question.
Not legal at all... It is a gun the same as any. Uses bullets 22c I think...
What amazes me is that not a single reply to this OP addressed the fact that these are kids in school albeit happened while driving. 14 years old carrying the weapon. Is Thai society really that bad whereas a child.. barely a teenager, feels the need to carry a weapon around with them that can kill someone. Where in the report does it say charges for the weapon and discharging it come into play? Parents need to be held responsible for this.. Yet eve the article leaves me to think noone cared or thinks about the possibilities of what this kid would do with that penguin.

Why do you think so many participated. Now they all know when and where to be careful in their subversive activities. Only those that failed to attend will have a chance of being caught now. Slim chance be as it may.

Yes, it takes alot of brains to follow a tip given to them by a snitch and then wear costumes on Halloween while looking for the man where he was reported to be going to. Hmm..

Why would they care about Thai mafia? Most of those would be in positions that control the immigration and the city. Besides, it is not an immigration police problem.

You need to learn how to read.. This Op is about a Thai woman selling herself in Taiwan.. So Thailand's reputation is still safe in knowing there is no prostitution in Thailand.

I have been fortunate all my life with beautiful women. Since I was 10 I have had such luck as to have the prettiest women in their prime of beauty. Although personally I never thought of myself as handsome. 3 marriages and all too women so pretty. Eden now I am fortunate to have a very beautiful wife in Thailand that is not with me for money. I think if you thought yourself handsome or beautiful in your history then you were arrogant at that time.

When I was headmaster of a school in Luang Prabang some 11 years ago, I used to check the classrooms after the students had left for home. For some reason, one of those rooms would have a young and pretty Lao teacher (female) sitting in the room all alone who would simply smile at me and say 'Good afternoon Headmaster'.
I found out later that various female staff members had heard that I was a bachelor (after 3 marriages) and that getting hooked up with the foreign Headmaster was nothing to lose....
Alas, my previous 3 marriages had put me off marriage for good (no shacking up with a Lao lady if unmarried!), and my sex life has been relegated to investment in the Kleenex company and Marigold rubber gloves!
You missed your chance to tap that Lao woman haha.. They get horny just like any other woman and if you are a foreigner she surely would have bed you and wanted more.

Easy if she has a job and assets here in Thailand that she would have to return for. Otherwise not that easy. She would have to be interviewed in order to grant the visa.
She needs to show she has alot of money in the bank. . Something in Thailand that would make her want to return to Thailand. Business, children etc... Interviews with the US Embassy. Plus many other requirements. But the main thing is her interviews. She needs to convince the US she is not going to get to the US and hide there or begin working there and become an illegal immigrant.

what does it mean to get skidded ? was she wearing a helmet at the time ?
Apparently not since someone who drove past her kicked her in the head causing the trauma hence the coma. What I do not understand is why there is no mention in the OP about the driver of the bike who kicked her in the head while she was laying on the ground after she slid on the bike. Surely that would be a criminal act in itself.

You do raise a possible issue...if the bank withholds income tax on all foreign deposits. It shouldn't regardless of the wire source, foreign bank-to-Thai bank, Government-to-Thai bank. Money is fungible meaning it has no character other than being currency.
I'm going to contact my bank in particular as my foreign sourced funds are tax-exempt by the terns of my visa.
How can a bank withhold tax when money is transferred into their bank? It is not their job to do this. More important is that no longer can be withheld for tax if they do not have a tax number to apply it to. Without your tax number it would be stealing. So with this in mind. If they tried to take out tax from deposits made and they do not have a tax number to apply it to. Then they would have to contact the tax office and provide your banking information and let the tax office determine if they need to find you and make you pay the tax.. This is my thinking anyway. Perhaps I could be mistaken though.

The original article in The Daily News says 20 minutes (20 นาที) not 20 seconds (20 วินาที) which is still a stretch but much more believable.
Not really considering they are only adding 150 officials to 119 entry points.. not even 2 more per entry point. Could not make a difference when allied.

I think the problem is at the China end. No matter how easy and attractive a trip to Thailand is, if the Chinese government puts up barriers to international travel because they want to keep the tourist money in their own country, the numbers will not go up.
I agree. My Chinese friend is a teacher there and he said the government confiscated all travel from workers in education industry as well as others to prevent their leaving and a COVID breakout occuring again..
Besides,. If you can afford a plane ticket to fly to another country . Then Thailand's futile effort removing entrance fees for tourists will have no affect on actual tourism. A few extra bucks saved is not an enticement to go somewhere. As for their other news saying only 20 minute waiting in immigration lines.. I find it difficult to believe. They could not do it before so what makes them think they can do it now. I recall news showing 4 hour waiting cue to immigration previously
